I'm using a stock non rooted Tmobile Note 3. Before using PIA VPN app, with the native hotspot all data went over the secure VPN connection. Recently I just noticed that all phone data goes over the vpn, but tethered data does not. When checking the ip address from my tethered tablet it comes up as a t mobile ip address. Phone browser show a completely different ip address.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticedor has this problem as well? Maybe something just got corrupted on my phone?

While tethering now I'm getting the tmobile up sell page. Using a VPN, or agent switcher used to work fine for me in the past, but not anymore. Are there any not root tethering methods, are still available that work? That will by pass the up sell page, or not count against your mobile hotspot?

I have the apk, still doesn't work. Is there anyway I can make the app think this phone is in the states?
btw if it matters I'm Canadian.
Use a VPN. Maybe Market enabler might work aswell.
I've never used it so I don't know though
That wouldn't work. Pandora itself checks to make sure you are in the right place, so I don't think market enabler would work.
Also, asking someone to thank you is douchey.

A VPN or some other kind of proxy to the United States would be the only way.
I'm in Canada and can confirm you that Pandora will work if you connect via VPN or proxy... Same thing for Netflix, hulu, mog etc

I use a PPTP VPN service from http://www.strongvpn.com when I am out of the US. It's stable and I can stream Pandora for hours but on occasion I need to reset the connection.

I'm also using strong VPN! Yes the connection is real stable, what I did is I bought their router... now when I connect to the strong vpn router I'm virtually in the us, if I use my regular router I'm here in Canada like I suppose too.

Hey big samm,
I didn't buy their router but actually configured their OpenVPN Lite service on my dd-wrt flashed router. I use the PPTP service on my mobile devices. Don't want to sound like an advert but once you sign up for OpenVPN you can get the PPTP service for just $2 per month. PPTP is flawed with insecurities but serves my temporary needs when on the road...

VPN only need at app start
Also, once you open up Pandora and wait for a couple of seconds you can disconnect from VPN - it only checks for country when it first loads and when you use the the thumbs up and down or try to tweak your stations. Skip works however. I have been trying to find a PPTP app (VPNRoot doesn't work for me: MS-CHAP authentication request denied error) that I can automate to connect to VPN prior to Pandora that works on ICS+. Apparently TOR does this, I just don't want something running all the time using up battery.
transport iturfad
Sorry if this is a stupid assumption or question, if you can get the apk file for pandora is it not possible to edit/modify the apk not to send ip information? Rather than having to install another app to block the ip like VPN?
I am still on a grandfathered plan and would like to keep it.
When I connect to my work network, it routes all traffic... Vpn and random Internet traffic through the vpn tunnel..
If i tether while I'm connected to my vpn, can att detect it? I would think not since it's encrypted?? Or is there something I'm missing?
I'm worried that tethering would force it to use atts gateway/ip instead of the vpn.
Does anybody know?
Thank you!

guess i'll find out...
couldn't get wifi tethering working.. anytime i enabled it 'settings' would FC (maybe because i froze tethering provision apk?
so i tried foxfi - and that wifi tether would turn on - but it would change the routing tables of my vpn.. and use normal 4g/att internet
but i have bluetooth on my laptop!
connected to vpn on phone, enabled bluetooth DUN on foxfi - and on my pc when i check my ip on third party websites (i.e nwtools.com) , it shows the IP of my VPN....
so far so good, i hope they can't see this traffic.
please search before posting new threads. there's multiple threads about this topic.
I recently installed Orbot and tried USB tethering with it on my Mac. It worked great, but now when I turned it off to tether without connecting to the TOR network using Orbot, web pages are stuck forver loading and my network monitor is measuring the speed in a few bits. Almost like it is stuck or there's a chokepoint somewhere. Wifi works fine on the handset. How can I fix this? Orbot seems to have fried my tethering. I tried rebooting my phone and plugging the usb back in and out and turning tethering on and off but no luck. It works fine when I use TOR.

I have no experience with orbot but typically to use tor you redirect uour traffic to it voa a proxy setting. It sounds like youre stuck using tor proxy settings when you want direct connect.
See if orbot has any proxy setting options you use to revert back.. or see if there are apps available to check or mod uour peoxy settings (there must be)..

I want to first of all apologise if the subject I wish to ask for help on violates any part of XDA's rules and regulations, as it isn't my intention to do so.
I want to ask for help on how I could tether a vpn connection on OnePlus 3 over the phone's mobile hotspot. I'm running Freedom OS 1.5 firmware version, and l've tried using some apps from play store like TetherVPN, TetherNet, ISWAT Tether Unlocker and PdaNet+, but none of them worked.
When I use the above mentioned apps, the connecting device keeps trying to obtain an ip address without success. Also I have tried running some routing scripts on terminal emulator, which I came across from forum searches, but that also was ineffective.
I would really appreciate it if someone could assist me with this. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I've done this in the past without using an app. Settings > More...
Setup connection to your vpn and connect. Setup hotspot and turn on.

The vpn connection I wish to tether isn't that of the native vpn client which is built in, it's that of a vpn app e.g. openvpn connect.

HTTP Injector can only tether vpn connection created by the app itself, not that of other apps. Besides it's used for modifying http requests, which I'm not familiar with.

This has worked for me on MM, but is failing miserably on N. There's a few other similar apps but none of those work either for N.
Can anyone advice on getting the Razer Phone to successfully set up tethering using the Wi-fi hotspot facility. I have tried doing this using all the security options (WPA2 PSK, WPA PSK & None), changing AP band and different channels, but it times out on any device that I try to connect to the Razer. Is there something else that I need to do to get it to work. I have tried apps from the app store as well but the devices still time out. I have a tethering allowance on my phone contract as well.
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.
It should just work like any other android phone.
I did change my passkey to eight 8s for ease of use but it worked.
Is your network blocking hotspot? Also try using a different machine to see if that connects, if it does then you might need to delete some of your old wireless connections from your pc/laptop as it could be causing an issue.
