At&t gn2 hard bricked?? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I upgraded to 4.3 stock. Then rooted, then upgraded to 4.4.2 custom.
Then decide to get back to 4.3. By a mistake i restored in ODIN to 4.1.1 (stupid me)
After restore, phone won't boot. Actually I cannot do anything......except for going into download mode, where I got "knox warranty void:1". And that is it! Nothing else can be done........i cannot even boot into recovery............
Any help??? Or should i toss it against the wall??

TY!! I did that already..........and STILL cannot boot into recovery AFTER this.... any idea???

Your profile says Verizon. This stuff is for at&t.
But you can reinstall TWRP if you can get in download mode.

VERIZON?? Oops!! That was years ago.....forgot to change it. Sorry.
And yes, i did install recovery via odin. But i cannot boot into recovery.....

Home+volume up and hold in power until you see first screen, then let go of power but contine to hold in home+volume up until you see TWRP screen.
Otherwise, use "adb reboot recovery" command.

Yup.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Wont show up in adb and wont boot in recovery, but can get in download, flashed twrp through odin and still cant get into recovery

There is some procedure that forces recovery that involves taking out the battery at a certain point during bootup, but I don't know it. Maybe start a new question thread about that?

Try flashing the 4.1.1 firmware from sammobile. it is the older of the 2 from att and it does not show a version number on the Sammobile site. Then flash root/cwm all through odin. Then do the battery pull trick to recovery. You may need the root and custom recovery to get the rest to work right.

Done that, NO luck.

When you pull the battery does it boot automatically into download mode? Or do you have to power the device up yourself?
Also have you tried to odin a root injected 4.1.1 fw yet? You may have to dig through the dev section but I know they are there.
Have you tried flashing the leak 4.3 yet? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496292

After battery pull out, I have power it back on. (power-home-vol/up - Galaxy Note II screen, and sits there. power-home-vol/down - download screen)
Tried 4.1.1 in odin, tried 4.1.2 as well, and rooted it in odin right away, all went OK, passed, but after battery pull out, still didn't go beyond Galaxy Note II screen.
Tried 4.3 in odin, but at the end, got "failed" result.
Damn.............for some reason, i know this has something to do with bootloader. I am not "android" guy, but rather PC computer freak... ......if i only know how to completely reformat entire storage space, and start from the scratch.....but unfortunately, this is not a hard drive....

Just for me try this: flash 4.1.1 and as soon as the device reboots pull the battery. Dont let it get a chance to do anything. Then boot it into download mode and flash the chainfire superuser with Stock recovery built in. That can be found a in the stickey how to revery to stock thread in this exact forum. Then on reboot after flash pull the battery and let it sit for 5 min, no less. Then try to boot into recovery. If you can get into stock recovery there is hope.
I know you may have tried this already but please try it one last time for me. Keep in mind you should pull the phone Off the usb as soon as the odin flashs are done. Pulling the battery while it is still plugged in wont cut the power the way you need it to in order to reboot properly. Also if you have an external sd card in pull that sucker out as well. Sd cards can hang things up sometimes.
Like I said spitballing here. If all else fails maybe you can talk a dev into wrapping a rom into an odinable .tar file and try to force a rom on it.

Help with bricked Note 2

Hello.. So today I attempted to flash a new version of TWRP for installing cleanrom and it bricked my phone. I can get into download mode though
So using ODIN i've been trying to install custom recoveries. Everytime it says pass, but I cannot get a recovery to show up. If I hold up, power and home buttons, the Galaxy note 2 will flash (as if its about to load a recovery) but then just goes back to galaxy note 2 screen. I can still make it to download mode, but cannot seem to get anywhere else.
Also, currently there is no rom on my phone.
Please help!
Thanks,
AC

I think it is separate. The last thing I had was beanstalk with neak kernel. Then I wiped everything (not sure if that affect kernel or not) to prepare for cleanrom.
How do I use odin to start fresh?
Thanks!

Install a factory image (probably with root and custom recovery) then proceed to flash whatever from there.

Oh sorry, I wasn't sure what the term bricked actually encompassed. I guess I was stuck in bootloop then.
Well, good and bad news. I got out of the bootloop, and finally got twrp installed on my phone. I did a recovery of beanstalk and also a fresh install of cleanrom. While they boot, they both have been going extremely slowly. Also just loading into recovery is taking super long. I don't know why. I am also not getting any signal, I can however connect to wifi. Anyone have any ideas or any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks again!

Just tried it out and it had the same problem. installed with ODIN no problem, but I still have no signal and it is still running very choppy.
When I go to mobile networks in settings it tells me "Insert SIM card to access network services" I have a sim and have tried reinserting it multiple times. I don't know whats going on. Also, it seems I do not have any internal storage. It says 200mb in storage that are fully used. When I have cleared everything but the rom.
I may attempt to return the phone tomorrow.

nope a lot of people have that problem you have to remove your sim card and sd card and flash again then reboot i have seen people do this 3 times to clear all the bad flashes stuck on there phones make sure to factory reset too after by being off then hold down home power and volume up when you see the words pop up let go of all but volume up get into the system setting there factory all and restart then once you give it about 10 min put you sim card and sd card back and before wipe the sd card it has been know to cause some problems if that all doesn't work then ya maybe there is something else
good luck

Thanks for the recommendation but I've previously tried the method, but my phone always failed to download (even when it wasnt rooted) would u have any other way of solving it without having to use odin. . . my phone is currently stuck in recovery mode so any help trying to get out of it would be helpful. .thank you for your time helping me solve my issue
Put the correct ROM on your external sd card with a PC adaptor. Install the card, boot into recovery, wipe system and data, then install the correct ROM. Boot, let rhe phone settle in for a few minutes, connect to wifi, or check if the correct ROM has the at&t APN settings.

Ranger is correct, try doing what he suggested.
But not really understanding what you have tried from your post.....
Which method, and what does fail to download?
Do you mean fail to get into download mode, and you only can get into recovery?
Are you doing this to get to download mode?
Put your Note 2 in Download Mode
-First you will need to turn off your device.
-Once it’s off, you need to press this button combination: volume down, power button and home button.
-Keep them pressed until the download mode shows up.
-Once you’re there, you will be required to press volume up to enter the download mode or volume down to cancel and reboot the device.
Obviously you want to press the volume up. Now you are ready to ODIN flash.

i would have tried ODIN for this situation but everytime i do. It says "FAILED" how would you suggest i fix this so that my phone can use ODIN. I was going from cyanogenMod to a custom ROM, but i assume i didnt flash the old ROM and now i kinda stuck in a bootloop like it'll show the samsung intro then show the customROM emblem stays there. I've left it in that state for a whole night and it didnt change (still showing the custom ROM emblem) the only thing i can do is enter TWRP v2.6.3.1 and access my external SD.

Not a problem. Just giving back from all the help I've received over the years,

[Q] Trying to revert back to stock, ended up soft bricking my phone

I searched but seems like everyone else has a slightly different situation than I do and I don't want to screw my phone up any more.
I picked up a Galaxy S5 and wanted to give my Galaxy S3 to my mom.
(This next process happened almost a month ago, so I forgot many of the useful details, I'm really sorry about that)
I don't remember which ROM I was running, I'm fairly certain it was CM10 that hasn't been updated in almost a year. I ended up rebooting and flashing a stock rom that I had backed up on my computer. I flashed it and I got a weird message. The phone wouldn't boot to the ROM and kept going to the home screen. I tried a different stock ROM that I got online, got the same issue, so I tried another source's stock ROM. I got a weird error, phone shut down, and wouldn't power back up.
It would vibrate once when I held the power button, but it didn't do ANYTHING else. I tried doing the power+volume down trick, vibrated twice, did nothing more than that. I got fed up, took the battery out and the memory card, and let it sit in a drawer.
At this moment the only thing the phone does is a short vibration when I do either the power button or power button + volume down.
Today I decided to try to recover it and saw something about a USB Jig I can buy on eBay that may help.
Is this something that may work or is my phone permanently bricked? If the Jig does work, where should I get the stock ROM for this phone, and if it matters, how do I know which stock ROM to install?
It's an AT&T Galaxy S3 16gb model.
here is a thread for stock ROMs.
do you know your bootloader and baseband version?

I don't know any of that.
Also what's the difference between MJ2, LK3, LG1, and LEM?
Sounds like you flashed an incorrect ROM and/or bootloader onto your phone.
The bootloader is important because if you have the mjb and newer bootloader, flashing an older bootloader will brick the phone.

I can see me flashing the wrong rom, but is the bootloader attached to the rom package?
If the bootloader is ****ed, will the jig work for me or am I out of luck?
Where did you get the last ROM you flashed? Provide a link if you can.
Have a look at the debrick thread as it may be helpful if your phone can't get into download mode. The jig may or may not help but it's good to have one for Samsung phones.

I honestly have no clue, the only rom I could find in my downloads folder on my computer that I can't identify as a custom rom is "pac_d2lte", and I remember the d2lte part throwing me off even though thats what a few sites said to download.
The Jig worked, btw, I'm at the download screen with the phone plugged into my pc, should my PC be showing it as an external device? Cause it doesn't show it in "My Computer".
Can I just take an SGH-I747 rom off this page and flash it with ODIN?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33570269#post33570269
I would not flash any stock rom until you know the bootloader version on your phone.
Since you can get into download mode, flash philz touch recovery for the d2lte and flash a custom rom such as cm11 onto your phone to at least get it booted so you can confirm the bootloader and baseband.

I actually just did just that. It seemed to restore my phone to working condition. It seemed a little buggy during set up, but I don't know if it's because I was running it without a sim card or not. So far it looks like it's running just fine.
In other words, this is what I did (in case someone has the same problem and stumbles across this thread):
Purchased a Samsung Galaxy Jig from Amazon
Downloaded one of the LK3 ROMs from this thread
Downloaded Odin 307
Connected the Jig to my phone to allow it to boot to download mode
Once in download mode I unplugged the Jig and plugged the phone into my PC
I launched Odin and it found my phone right off the bat.
With the settings "Auto Reboot", "F. Reset Time", and "PDA" checked, I clicked on PDA and selected the ROM I just downloaded.
I clicked start, Odin did its magic, and my phone rebooted to the setup screen

I didn't see your post before I flashed. I took a gamble and it seems to have worked.

Question about tmobile G95TUVU3DOI1

Hi, I'm kinda new to rooting android phone.I just got a galaxy s6 edge from tmobile and I would lIke to root the phone. Searching around the forum but still doesn't ubderstand how's it work. So I got a galaxy s6 edge, baseband version G95TUVU3DOI1, come with 5.1.1 SMG 925T. Question is if I'm root the phone will i able to restore back to stock firmware, will tmobile able to find out if I rooted or not? Because I'm in Jump! Program and plan to switch new phone next year. And its there any easy step by step guide to root the phone. I don't really care about Samsung pay, would like to have fingerprint sensor if possible. Thank you
Before you do anything, understand that you WILL TRIP KNOX AND BREAK SAMSUNG PAY. Also, it is your choice to modify your device and this process seems to work differently for differnt people, so if anything happens, it's on you. However, there are several threads here that can help you if anything goes wrong
Okay, make a backup of all your stuff on SmartSwitch
You're going to want to download ODIN 3.10.7 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
Then you're going to want to download UniKernel v8 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...d-development/kernel-stockmod-kernel-t3100395
Open ODIN on your computer and don't touch anything yet
Then you're going to put your phone into download mode by turning it off, then holding POWER+VOL DOWN+HOME until a blue screen appears.
Press VOL UP to enter download mode and connect your phone to your computer with the cable that came with your phone
Wait for the little box at the top left to turn blue
On ODIN, click the AP button and locate the UniKernel v8 file that you downloaded before
Once you've found it, double click it to fill in the AP field with the file
Click START and do not touch anything until it's done.
Your phone will restart and once it comes back up, you'll be rooted. It can take several minutes for it to fully boot, so give it time.
Now, this is optional, but if you want a custom recovery to flash custom ROMS, download TWRP onto your computer from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...recovery-twrp2-8-6-0-g925t-5-1-1-of6-t3143002
Flash that file through ODIN using the same process as you used to flash UniKernel.
This recovery will let flash custom ROMs. I recommend XstreStoLite as it is very good on battery life, but you will not be able to use WiFi calling or VOLTE. You can download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...xtrestolite-deodexed-mod-edition-1-3-t3119968
Let me know how it goes.

Yes. You'll just have to download the latest firmware from here or Sammobile.com and flash it using ODIN
Thank you. One last question, any chance using Odin will brick the device?

Yes. There is a small chance, but the method I described is the exact same method I used on my device and I've had no issues. Even if you do, there is almost a 0% chance of a hard brick unless you touch something you're not supposed to touch, and if you do soft brick, there are a few threads here that should be able to help. More than likely flashing stock firmware will fix any problems you have.
thanks akw for the run through, I've been away from android for 4 months and ran back to it. just got this phone and wanna quickly root it.

i need help too. i am trying to use smart switch as my last resort but its not working(ish). after installing the factory firmware it says the device will restart, unplug and plug it again. on the phone it reset itself and then with the green android logo saying installing system then 1/3 of the loading bar it just says erasing then blacked out then back on bootloop. i can still boot to recovery mode and download mode.

Where are you getting the firmware from? What version of ODIN are you using? What port are you using in ODIN to flash the firmware?
There is a Mega download of the DOI1 firmware somewhere around here. I recommend downloading that and flashing using the AP port in ODIN 3.10.7, using the cable that came with your phone. This is the exact method I used to return to stock with no issues.

help please

Hello,
I havent been here since my s7 edge, but im in need of some help. I did a update today on my stock sprint S9 and it was updating and got stuck at 35%. Okay cool, so just go into bootloader and factory reset right? No, I boot into the bootloader than it automatically loops back to " system install update" and starts the progressing update and gets stuck again or somehow, it loops into the "power by android logo" if that makes sense..
I'm not sure how to get my phone to work again, but im asking for your assistance. Havent updated or root my s9, so I currently have no idea of rooting or anything here. Also, its not possible to enter developer mode since the phone does not fully boot, but loop. Is it possible to get the phone to fully boot again w/o any rooting, etc? Its been awhile lol.
Thank you for your time, Tuan.

See if you're able to get into download mode and Odin the latest CSAB firmware: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1huOYnY6_7Rpjlj-8lDAo68lOJ-_usULs/view
This link comes from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/official-s9-pie-t3844616
How long did you wait for it when it was stuck?
Grab the latest firmware from the samfirm tool here on XDA (Or link above will be quicker)
Boot the phone into Download Mode "Volume Down & Bixby & Power" from a powered off state
Load the 4 sections of firmware into Odin 3.13.1 (Use CSC not HOME_CSC)
Connect phone to PC USB
Hit start and wait for it to complete
All being well it should reboot the phone into Android

Waited about 30minutes when it was installing the "system update" and it loop for hrs until the phone died. When trying to get into bootloader it loops the system install and updates something instead of going to bootloader.
Phone is up and running. Thank you both so so much, you do not know how much I appreciate the help getting my phone back and running.
Thank you again, Tuan.
