Hey guys,
I was wondering if you all knew of any ways to reset the compass to its default values because whenever I use google maps my compass is either 45 degrees off or going in a 360 degree spin out and doesn't stop. It usually happens when I am using the navigation and walking at the same time.
I have GPS status and toolbox from the google play store which the compass seems fine in there, but whenever I use google maps its completely off.
How do I fix this?

Same exact problem here no idea how to fix it, noticed it first start happening when I flashed 4.4 beanstalk and I downgraded to 4.3 and it's still happening.

Try using an app to recalibrate it? Thats all I can think of.

Hi guys,
My Google location services show my location a few meters away from my router (20m at least)
I have tried going to another location with another router. Same thing happens. It shows the same distance which I face on mine.
I tried resetting router, turning on/off Google location services, changing ROMs.
It used to be correct when I was on gingerbread. I don't know if ICS has caused it or something else.
Anyone facing this issue?

my GS3 was working flawlessly for more than a month, and i use it as GPS everyday, to and from work. I use waze.
anyway i dont know what went wrong, today when i was driving, it started disconnecting every couple of minutes, in waze, in google maps...
i have GPS monitor app installed which shows in notification bar how satellites its connected to, so i could see it going to zero and back to 13-15 which is usually the case...
i have not installed any new app which should affect GPS, the only thing i installed and then uninstalled was "Apartment guide" app.
is anybody else having this issue? what can i do apart from reflash OS? by the way i am on wanamlite ROM.
thank you.
Never had this problem before. I would use faster gps app to resolve your problem. It sounds like the app is crashing because of incompatibility

kitkit201, thanks for your reply, but i am having this issue even with google maps, i dont think its incompatibility...and the app itself is not crashing, but only GPS disconnects...and then reconnects...

ok i have found out an app that was causing these GPS issues..it was an app named GPS Monitor (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wMiwiZXUuaWxseXJpdW0udG9vbHMuZ3BzbW9uaXRvciJd)
i uninstalled it and everything worked fine...please note this if anyone else is using this app, it can cause issues...
ive been noticing this as well. i use a speedometer apps and it tells me how much sats im locked onto...ill randomly watch it turn red and slowly lose sat by sat till im not even connected. i dont have that app you mentioned installed.......???
I just recently got the S III and updated to 4.1.1. Some strange reason whenever I open up maps app 85% of the time my GPS activates, but some of the time it will not come on. So I restart my phone and open up the maps and my GPS works right away. Has anyone seen this? Seems software related since it works most of the time without needing the reboot. Thanks for any help.

Like 30% of my battery for the third day in a row is Maps, yet I haven't opened maps once. I restart everyday and it happens again. I assume it has to be the gps, but i dont know of any app that is using it, either.
Touchdown uses about the same amount of battery, so I'm wondering if it has some gps feature running I don't know about? How do I figure out what the problem is?

try this, go to your app manager, locate your map(gps) etc.. and wipe cache.
If you turn off your location access i think it might help.
Using anything like Google now ?

Not sure if it's a coincidence but I recently update to 4.4.3 and the auto rotate on the N7 2013 not working. Will only rotate when certain apps force it to. Anybody having that problem or solution

Yes. It kind of drives me nuts. The last rotation I used sticks after a few hours of leaving it in sleep mode. A reboot fixes it for me.
Crap reboot not working for me. I'm using an app that sits in the notification bar that will force the rotate in the meantime

Me too not working
Have you tried flashing a custom rom? Auto rotate works fine on my N7 running Pac-man 4.4.3 (6/9 nightly).

That happens to me as well. I'm using an apo to force rotation whenever I want to rotate it, otherwise a reboot usually fixes it, until it goes back to sleep.
Better of with an app.

Don't know if it's a cure, but this happened to me when I upgraded the rom (4.3 variety). Thought the gyro sensor was gone 'cause I then flashed 2 different custom roms and it didn't budge. So I took it apart, and finding nothing noticeable, I disconnected the battery for a few seconds, reconnected it, reseated all the cables and closed it. Then it worked again.
This thing is fickle!!!
Same issue here, reboot fixes for a while. Not real comfortable with taking it apart...
