[Q] Dead HTC One V - HTC One V

My out of warranty, overclocked, Sphongled! HTC One V overheated and froze. Shortly, it stopped charging and went Dead :crying:.
The customer service guys say its battery leaked and quoted 10k for fixing it (I bought it for around 17k) Should I try and fidget around the screws and see if I can somehow replace the battery myself? Where can I sell it for a decent price? (Squeaky clean and shining!) Really need your take on this!
P.S. Smartphones are a bad, bad way to lose your money!

Okay so I took my One V apart. I tested the battery with a multimeter, but it doesnt seem to accept charge. Would it be safe to plugin another Li-on 3.7 battery from a different model just to see if the device powers up?
I know i can order an original replacement battery, I want to confirm the problem is indeed with the battery and not with the mobo or somthing before i spend cash on a new battery.

Well i don't think the problem is only with battery....
You can try...
What i think is...sice they say battery has leaked out... So it must have damaged ua IC or motherboard... So better test it...with some battery...before ordering a new one....

Give it a try to see if it works..personally I wouldn't spend 10k on repairs.
Put in a few bucks more and you could buy a better phone..

Tried replacing battery with a 3.7V Nokia . Didnt boot up. Guess the problem is with the Mobo. :crying:
Any of you guys have experience with http://www.karmarecycling.in/eportal/? They quote 2k+ for recyclying my dead phone.

If motherboard is really death, check ebay for working devices (with cracked display or something like that) and make swap
OK i will give try, and let you know. Btw any idea how much new battery will cost ?
And how will i know its original one?
in Poland, high quality (not orginal, but comparable) battery costs about 416 INR
on ebay http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_tr...htc+artemis+battery&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Hox wont charge or turn on.

A little more info please?? Are you on stock? Custom rom?
Put the phone on wall charger for 5-6 hours and then try switching it on...

I am on stock.no root.locked bootloader.
Some one said it is due to a short in mainboard.
Another one said it is because of the faulty display or battery.
How to find out the real issue.?
Changing the board will cost around 16000 Indian rupees.that's not affordable for me .
I think you'll have to use your warranty.

I send it for warranty.but they said it is a physical damage .and it will cost rs.16000(us$300).I can't spent that much money.
But they won't tell what is the damage.

No other option mate.. Since you have opened up the device... They can easily figure that out by looking at the battery coil...
It's your device! Your gonna pay for it... They should tell you what's the fault!? Ask them again.

I called them for more than 6 times ,what they say is send it to them and they will repair it for 16000 rs and that's all.

Too Much Headache!

Hello there,
I gave my htc one x to cousin and he was using it till its battery started giving problem. To change battery he gave it to someone who didnt even know how to open lid forget undo screw! well... that sucks i know but thats how stupid people in Afghanistan make their money, ripping others for nothing!
Well... The problem is the phone starts from bootloader only and keeps restarting. The phone charges well and then it keeps doing that it wont even shut so not sure how messed up can it be? i opened the cover to check if there is something lose but couldn't see anything so didnt go beyond taking cover part!
Now i need some help and maybe if someone else had such problem or ever countered or know how to fix this? well i hope to get this thing fixed asap.
Many thanks to all those who take time reading this and/or helping...

Can you post any pictures?
if not i suggest just replacing the old battery with a hox+ one yourself.
It's not hard there are plenty of tutorials around.

I guess there isn't much to do than try and replace the battery..
The fact that it keeps rebooting COULD mean that the battery has gone faulty, I cannot guarantee you that it will boot up.
If you have warranty with HTC you can try to send it to them

LG G3 D855 turn off at 30% battery.

Hello everyone,
My phone has had weird behavior recently . It's suddenly started to turn off when I still have 30% of battery remaining. And then I plug in my phone to try to charge it, it shows 0%. It constantly repeats. I tried to battery calibrations apps and its methods but it doesn't work. Is my phone battery dead? Would someone give me some advice what I can do in a such situation?

You see, I don't think that is it. I had the same issue this month and bought a brand new battery. The problem remains, 30%-35% of battery left and the smartphone turns off. Non-rooted, stock Android 6.0.
Any ideas folks?
Same problem here !
Hey man I'm having exactly the same problem as u and I still haven't found a fix. This prob first started when I upgraded to marshmallow. I bought another battery as well still its the same problem. So bro have u found any fix ?
I got the same problem on my phone, while playing Pokemon. I bought a new battery and problem solved. But I'm still on Lollipop.
Got the same issue, bought 2 new battery, still the same.
Brought back to shop. Got checked and turns out my motherboard has some issue with the battery IC.
Probably too much abuse (overheated quite a number of times, my bad)
Warranty over, quoted RM800 (USD200~) fix (Replace the whole motherboard). Decided not worth it as I bought it for RM1500 (390USD~).
not necessarily, you can try to heat the controlling system for pcb
You can still get a new MOBO for 60$. I got a 3/32gb one for 55$ and its working like a charm

HTC 10 Not Working After Battery Replacement

The battery of my HTC 10 was in poor condition. The charge was running out quickly. When the battery dropped below 40 percent, the phone was heating up and closing. Recently, the phone heated up again and turned off. I put it in to charger again, but the phone wasn't on. Upon this, I replaced the battery with original one but phone is not turning on and not charging. How can i fix it ? Charger port and cable in good condition. i tried diffrent charger and cable. Still, not working.
Pls help me. Thank you.

Well if you tried everything thing there is actually nothing left for us to tell you......
Maybe there are more different ideas than yours.
You said "Take it to a repair shop or buy a new phone ......... " . Is this an idea or a help? You're trying to sabotage my search for help.

What ?
So that's what i get for bringing in ideas, it seems obvious to me that when you say you tried everything and the cables and screen and connections are correct you are pretty much pointed towards a specialist.
"trying to sabotage" ..... I'm baffled with your comment actually. But alright, do and try as you wish i was only thinking out loud but i won't do that anymore.
Good luck with fixing your device.
Kind regards.
First i said need a help about fixing.
Second, you said "Take it to a repair shop or buy a new phone ......... "
After i said "After trying everything it will be an option". I mean that, i want to try everything. Because technical services too expensive. If they say the problem in motherboard. I will buy a new phone
I suprised when i saw this comment, "Take it to a repair shop or buy a new phone ......... ". People writing here for help. Telling to people "go repair shop or buy a new phone" is not a good approach at the first comment.

That's your opinion. But it is how it is. That's all i have and can say about it. It may be a too straight forward answer for you but saying it differently won't make a change.
Cheers
