Cellcom (Wisconsin) root/ROMs - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Hey guys,
My roommate has an HTC One through a regional carrier (Cellcom) and I was wondering if anyone has some insight as to what root methods and custom recoveries and ROMs work with this variant. I'm pretty sure Cellcom piggy backs Verizon's LTE. Thanks in advance!

Fascinating. Not much information is available on Cellcom other than their leasing of Verizon's LTE and roaming agreements.
Best thing to do would be to find out the exact model number by booting into the bootloader and looking at the device ID. Press and hold the Vol Down + Power button until the screen goes black, then release the power button. It should show a bootloader screen which includes a line like the following:
CID-VZW__001
This is the Verizon CID. If it matches that, then he should be able to use any of the Verizon variant tools and ROMs.

Upon booting into the bootloader, I get a screen with the following info:
M7_WLV PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.54.0000
RADIO-1.12.42.0731
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617

No Cid? Oh well looks like it's a verizon htc one.

So if I root using the Verizon method and flash a Verizon ROM, will everything work after I switch the APN do you think?

Update: I used the Verizon version of Rumrunner (1.10.605.10) and did not have much luck.
I had checked fastboot beforehand to make sure it had recognized the device and it was recognized. I also made sure USB debugging was enabled.
When I ran Rumrunner the phone did in fact boot into the bootloader however it failed at that point.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Will do. I'll report back after I give it a shot, thanks for the assistance!

After double checking the Rumrunner requirements and trying on a Windows 8 machine, Windows 7 VM with Windows 8 host, and a bare metal Windows 7 machine, I got the same result.
Attached is an image showing the output through the Rumrunner execution. At the second to last "Waiting for device" the phone turns off and continues to turn off and reboot and is never detected by Rumrunner.

Unfortunately, I have no idea why it would crash, but the Rumrunner guys have an IRC channel. They helped me quite a bit when I was going through the process. From the thread:

[Q] Stuck DesireHD, can still get HBOOT, OrangeUK, help! (Noobishness within)

Hi all,
After scouring the intertubes for 2 days, I've had to give in and beg for wisdom on this one.
Recently inherited a Desire HD from my wife, factory-reset but loaded with Orange crapware, so I thought I'd crack on and root straight away.
Went for it with the AAHK kit, however it hung at the white screen after restarting, and have had no life out of it ever since. I can still access the HBOOT screen and Bootloader, from which I managed to query the device infor, CID etc, see attached file. HBOOT info is:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.85.0024
MICROP-0438

I've tried to get the firmware up and running again with various RUU's, with and without the goldcard I've made, and am now at a loss! The RUU will initially look to be working, get some way into the progress bar before returning the error message - 'The ROM Update Utility cannot update your android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.'
As the device can switch on, it's clearly not a brick, just incredibly stuck!
Can anyone help me get this going again, ideally unbranded and rooted?
Thanks in advance!

Ok, the phone is still s-on.
Did you try to run aahk again on the phone?
What system did you use to run aahk on? Maybe try the method with the ubuntu boot cd to rule out any problems with the host computer.
Since the phone is still S-ON you can only install signed images. But the RUU ones should work.
Did you also try to copy the RUU to the SD-Card (adb push "RUU-File" /sdcard/PD98IMG.zip) and boot into hboot?

I did try to rerun AAHK, all it did was give me a connection error message.
I presume pushing the RUU to the SD card is the same as copying it and renaming the file? I've literally zero experience of the terminal ocmmands involved.
Cheers,

CID is ORANG001.
Version no. is 1.31.405.6
Re. creation of the goldcard - I put the sd in my wife's phone and ran the Goldcard helper app, then put the code into the website, then used the image file it created. Seemed straightforward, not sure what could be the problem there? It was a brand new 32GB card.

Hi glevitan,
I tried that RUU, it failed on a 'remote: 42 custom id check fail' error. I've attached an image of the terminal window. No idea what this means.

[Q] Updated Radio - No Sim Card - No Service

Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on an issue I am experiencing with my G2.
I am not new to flashing roms, etc, but I ran into an issue upgrading my radio to the latest T-mobile version (.30). I followed the instructions correctly and it updated through HBOOT and I restarted the phone. All was fine, I was connected to WiFi, T-mobile's network, and GPS locked on nice and quick. This morning, the Jelly Bean rom I had just installed last night (and tested the new radio with) froze on a black screen. I pulled the battery out and restarted and was unable to connect to the Tmobile network. It says: No Sim Card - No Service.
I've searched and tried everything I could find in the forums with no success. I tried an EFS wipe, reinstall of the rom after a clean wipe, reverting to the old radio version I had, restoring my previous Jelly Bean rom that worked fine with the old radio, and nothing seems to work.
I finally registered here and hope someone can assist me with getting my phone working again.
Thanks!
It sounds like either hardware or firmware, its possible your simcard slot randomly went bad. But before you go and replace it I would do a full partition. Boot to hboot and write down everything on that screen

What method did you use to root and gain soff? If you used gfree then I would use your eng bootloader to change cid
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot reboot-bootloader
And then I would flash one of those pc10img.zips I linked you to (post 30)
If you didn't use gfree then unroot and son, then follow the xda wiki to root properly
These steps should fix your problem if its software/firmware
And if it won't fix almost for sure hardware

Well I'm questioning if you are being you don't have supercid, this is usually something you would get along with the rooting process. That same post I linked you will tell you how to check, be sure you confirm as you may run into issues otherwise

Well rooted is the wrong term, you have an engineering bootloader and so with this you can change cid, but this isn't my concern. There is true radio soff and fake soff, fake soff can cause issues when flashing pc10img.zips,
this is why I would highly recomend checking, like I said the instructions are there. Let me know if you have issues

Sooo...I did not unroot, root, and all that jazz again. I felt risky, installed the pc10img from the link you gave and it worked without a hitch...except it did not fix my sim card issue. I finally had another tmobile phone to test with and it was a dead/fried sim card. I had an extra, had it activated and tada! It worked. I am enjoying the new recovery though compared to CWM.
Thanks again for your time and help!
Well I'm glad it all worked! Yeah it seemed like hardware and I'm glad it was the chip vs the phone!

HTC Desire HD Problem

Hello, I'm sorry but I am a noobie in dev stuffs for mobile OS.
So, I'll just seek some assistance before I do something terrible to my phone.
Problem:
My phone gets stuck in the HTC logo white screen, tho I do manage to get pass that by holding the power button again.
The files in my phone which I delete gets restored if the mobile is restarted. (similar on how Deep Freeze works on PCs)
Factory reset doesn't work. (Have no tried doing it while connected in a PC)
Lots of errors in my applications.
Note, this phone was just passed to me by my aunt since she no longer use it.
I wanted to fix them.
I'm willing to learn methods to be able to fix it, I just want some assistance on where to start with troubleshooting this phone.
Thank you for your time. (can provide more info if asked)

Hello, sorry for the late reply.
I tried installing the one provided by nikolas60 a few moments ago. (I used that one since it's the same version with the one provided by humzaahmed155 but in zip form)
I installed it using the bootloader method, put it in the sd card root and renaming it PD98IMG.
Bootloader managed to detect it but after a few minutes, it just said wrong CID, or something, then press power to restart.
So I just restarted it and nothing happened.
Did I do something wrong? Should I try the .exe one?

And by the following: "do you have adb/fastboot set up" did you mean exactly what?
Unlock I made up in attempts to revive the phone. After unlocking, I tried to upload the original ROM (RUU) - which is played on the phone apparently well (there has been no error message) but after restarting the phone still behaved as describing
Many thanks again for further advice

Adb/fastboot are programs used for interacting with android devices for development by unlocking the bootloader you have these items.
Judging by what you have said you are stuck in a bootloop. I suggest flashing a custom recovery for the 2012 wildfire s and then flashing a custom rom. The ruu may not have worked for a few reasons but mainly because your bootloader is unlocked.

Hello,
thanks for the link (so that we talked about the same procedure). I have followed the steps and installed CWM.
But basically the original problem persists. After starting the phone after selecting the start and Recovery, CWM menu displayed only for a few seconds and the phone will reset again.
I also noticed unusual features:
After connecting the phone USB cable to power supply (charger or PC), the phone automatically turns on.
Again thanks in advance for further advice

Hmmm. I'm beginning to suspect a hardware issue. Can you relock your bootloader using the command
fastboot OEM lock
And then try to run a RUU on your device?

Factory unlocked and S-OFF

Noob question: I've ordered a factory unlocked M-8 from Amazon which should be arriving in a couple of days. Does HTC ship these devices with S-OFF (that is, is being factory unlocked automatically make it S-OFF), or will I have to do that in order to flash custom ROMs? The last HTC I had was the Vivid, and I had to do the wire trick to make it S-OFF. It seems the process is simpler now with Firewater, but just wondering what to expect. Thx.

"Factory unlocked" means "SIM unlocked/Carrier unlocked" i.e. You can use it on any network
The bootloader won't be unlocked and it won't be S-OFF from HTC.

But even without s off, you can still flash roms you just need to unlock the bootloader via htc dev
