The battery temp gets around 90°F and the CPU at 120°F!!!
Is this sort of normal for it to be acting like this when constantly downloading? I'm getting a little worried.

Just for the sake of narrowing it down.
•Have you dropped your phone recently?
•How big is the file?
•Are you over/underclocking?
•If you let your phone idle and then check the temp, what is it?
As I type this, I'm at 85°/110°, and my phone is only slightly warm to the touch.

I rarely if ever drop my phone and I drop it either on carpet (that's my floor) never have I dropped it on concrete. Usually it heats up when downloading 300MB+ or playing 3D intense games. My idling is 40°C for the battery and 45°C CPU. Which feels just about normal until I download and use my phone.

Hmm, it sounds pretty normal. What ROM and browser do you use?

I'm not sure where to check that.
It has been a light to moderate day. But I'm pleased with this battery life even so.
What I am eager to see is if the back half suddenly drains faster. (i. e. This turns out not to be 'real')

A very unscientific gut level interpretation of these results... Based on how I know my own battery after a long history together.... This MS6 build and JD are getting me a few extra hours on a charge.

What does it mean when "media" is using most of my device's battery? Any time I turn on the TW music my phone gets super hot and battery drains about 1% per minute. Even if I kill the music app the battery drain continues. I have about 1000 songs on a 32gb external SD....could that be a factor? Below are my battery stats.

You pretty much answered your own question. Chances are that it's coming from your external. I'd suggest to format it and when you re-add the music to it, make sure it's well placed in folders and not a mess.
Well I unmounted and removed the external card, and its still just as hot as before even after restarting. Battery is draining at 1% every 2 minutes...at this rate I'll be getting 2hrs with 30 mins screen on time
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Umm it might be from a app then. Get BetterBatteryStats (either from XDA or market) and see what causes all this drain.
Probably coming from an app that is loading ads.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
That would make sense...but I only have 2 apps downloaded from the play store. Instagram and xda. In order to conserve battery life I try to do all of my business on the built in browser, downloading an app only when I need it, and then uninstalling.
Plus I've only used a handful of apps in the last month and they have never caused a spike like this. I discard all running apps on an hourly basis.

Need more info, my guess is a background app. Looks like you are stock 100%? That's your problem, lol... Just messing. What is your screen time? Click on display to see that... You're in a 4g area so signal shouldn't be the culprit. Your media is #1 user, but why, were you using it?
More like an hour and a half close to 2..if you used it for like 20 to 25 minutes I would think it's common. Like dude said above me we need screen time, also data technically eats battery away faster than wifi just a thought. Brightness is important too maybe you can try power saving mode, don't expect much difference though. Darker wallpaper helps, but most importantly are you auto syncing and if so which apps it usually starts there. Every little bit helps, most powerful phones have average battery life. Unless you start undervolting voltages and cpu that's where you see the big difference.

Has to be a rogue app. Try wiping the phone and reinstall everything with increments to get to the root of your problem.

You can try reducing brightness, and uninstall apps like juice defender etc. Such apps cause something known as "wakelocks". Just use this guide to find out which apps cause wakelocks - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433309
I've been getting decent battery life with Qualcomm's official app for Snapdragon processors:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiam.snapdragon.app
Also adjust screen brightness, when you're in doors around 25% and out doors more. Generally 25% works fine for me everywhere.
Make sure to check your ROMs recommended profiles for the best battery life.

The heating / over heating people notice isn't the phone itself...
What the heat or hotness people feel coming from the back of the phone near the l.e.d is actually where the contact points are for the WiFi...
So its not the battery or CPU over heating its the WiFi actually pulling an excessive amount of juice while trying to either connect to a poor router signal or a heavy download...
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 4
Interesting.... Is this a fact? Cause I run wifi all the time at my place on lifeless and there's no heat, but on cm or dirty unicorns it heats up. The same spot you mentioned.

I never wouldn't thought it were the Wi-Fi but now this actually makes sense. A couple of times lately I've noticed my phone burning up just doing routine downloads. I knew it wasn't anything taxing the CPU too much...

If you look at the CPU or battery temperature, it's usually hot when the back feels hot. All that depends on the thermal driver in kernel. I haven't played around with that a ton, but usually show-p1984's from bricked kernel for the N4 works well for me.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I turned off that thermal daemon monitor from a thread awhile back... figure it makes a good hand warmer. if he dies, he dies lol.
