This doesn't belong here.
And look at the thread directly below yours...

This is my very first Android device. I'm very pleased with it, but I'm looking to do more with the device. However, I'm scared to take the first step in fear of bricking the phone.
My question to the posters of this forum is:
1) What is the easiest and most simple way to root and overclock my phone?
2) What do I have to look out for while trying to root my phone? Any precautions to not brick my phone.
3) Is there only one method of flashing a ROM?
4) What is the best ROM out there right now? Been reading a lot of good things about Cynanogen(?)
Any advices would be great!!
Forget your phone, you should be more worried that you just went against all forum rules and proved you haven't ready any rules by starting a topic in a forum it doesnt belong in.
oh, and IBD!!!

Scroll down to the part where it says Rooting the Vision/Desire and DHD, start reading from there and follow the steps carefully.
Make sure to install the Android SDK first and the ADB drivers.
A lot of links on this forum for the adb drivers.
1) read read read. Research is good.
2) post specific questions
3) when u do post, post in the right section

Welcome to the development forum, for developing roms and kernels.
This thread relates to neither, so has been moved and closed per the numerous visible warnings.
Read the wiki and stickies
Hi everybody. I am really THIS close to unlock my bootloader, now that I have seen that Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 is out. I really want to try this rom, but don't know yet, if I want to unlock my bootloader, because of warranty and DRM.
Anyways! I was searchin the development thread, and saw the guide in the 2nd post, but I didn't really understand it. I am a virgin in flashing roms, and don't quite get why I would have to down- upgrade to another official firmware, before flashing CM? If anyone could please tell me why they unlocked their bootloader, and a great 'How-to guide' to install Cyanogenmod with everything functional. I am sorry if anything smilair already have been asked.

Read the sticky at the top of general.

Oh thanks! I guess I was a little tad too fast, this must be the only thread I haven't read. Even though it doesn't answer all my questions..
If you unlock your boot loader with SETool (Alejandrissimo or Jinx13) then DRM is unaffected.

Okay.. I read thw whole thing.. and it didn't help me that much. I know how to unlock the bootloader and so on, but I don't have a clue how to flash a rom. In a guide, it says I should do it in fastboot, and another one says I should do it in Recovery.
I know the following steps:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. flash boot.img - recovery ( I think?)
3. Install rom from recovery and gapps (or something)
Is something wrong here?
Sorry, I thought THIS thread was in general but it's in development, should be a sticky, but hey ho. Any new rom will/should have instructions in the OP.
Thank you, I think I got it now.
Hello guys. After updating to Android 4, the old kernel ate my nervs and now i'm in thought to change the kernel. Today i saw an awesome very good working kernel 7 on 1.6Ghz for my LT15i. Please, can you guys help me with the steps of achieving the desired effect with first starting with backuping my current OS?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the response but i've already searched the QnA threads(btw sorry for posting in the wrong thread). Nothing matches the information i require.
He meant that questions need to be posted in the Q&A section and not here in the General section.
If you're looking to back up your apps and associated data, you can do it with Titanium Backup.
Regarding your other queries, there are many threads already on unlocking your bootloader, rooting as well as flashing a kernel. [HINT: Try reading a couple of the stickied threads in this very same section].
Unlocking your bootloader is quite simple. Just visit the Sony website. [Link]
I'm sure you can manage the rest on your own.
Good luck!

than you need a nandroid backup.
The only problem is that I am with stock 4.1.B.0.431 and far as i know even the stock .62 cannot be rooted. And the backuping part is the hard thing of all.
The phone doesn't want to root. I've download rootable 4.0.4 but no root options available. I've tried to downgrade to .42 to root, but Flashtool aborted the flash... Help guys, i can't stand that stupid thing to eat my nervs before i've crashed it to the ground.
hi guys, quick question is it possible to root without unlocking the bootloader?
cheers i want root to get titanium backup,do a back up then flash a RUU,then install my backups
Not possible RIGHT NOW.
Asked and answered a lot of times.
You should have searched a bit before posting.
Um..... you can root without unlocking the boot loader. You cant flash custom roms without unlocking the bootloader or s-off
Please search before posting new threads. There are plenty of existing threads covering this topic.
Closed.

Please take this post down. Kingoroot is malware. Also, you cannot install supersu on this phone. First of all, the method described here requires you have a custom recovery and TWRP has yet to be ported to this phone. Even if you did have TWRP you have to root with magisk. I have posted a complete guide on how to root and recover this device.
Either this guy just copy and paste trying to be helpful and not knowing, or this is a deliberate attempt at sabotage.
I urge all readers to disregard this guy's comment as it is totally false.
