Anyone else have serious issues with the inc2? I am not sure if mine is constantly running out of memory or something, but I have tried using a task killer which did not help. Push email does not push, whole phone slows down when all I do is run Facebook and use the default internet browser, and I mean to the point of the text becoming lagging, where I can continue to tap letters out and then it literally has to catch up to write it all out.
I have done a few factory reset and now have no applications installed and still see the phone struggling to type this very post out.
Sometimes it for so annoying that I just had to restart the phone or if that had trouble loading would simply pull the battery out.
Could the phone be over heating or something? Because it does not seem like it is an issue with background applications as it always tells me that I have more that 90% of the memory free.
I would somewhat understand if I was watching some highdef movie, streaming Pandora all at the same time...but no.
Sounds like my Eris before root...something is wrong...maybe try to swap if for another?

Do you use the HTC email app? Apparently this causes a lot of the problems you are describing.
i've been having some of these issues also, especially the typing lag. not really sure why. but i'm hoping that with a new custom ROM, things will be resolved.
I've had some of the same issues as described but I found it to be fixed once I got into the default recovery and cleared out the cache.
It doesn't erase anything on the phone and seems to have helped things out for me tremendously.
Just be prepared the first boot afterwards will take a while.
You also need to disable fast boot in the power menu through settings in order to access the default recovery.
Vol down + power I believe.

Yes I do. Mainly to push my university's email, which uses gmail. I guess I will try to use the gmail application instead and see how that works.
Ugh, hopefully Gingerbread fixes and upgrades a lot of this stuff.

Interesting, will have to give this a try as well.
Edit: Hmm...When ever I try to access that recovery mode it gives me that "!" logo thing, no option to clear cache. :/
If you download apps2sd free app it has a cache cleaner for non root

Oh okay, will try that.
Damn, it seems that disabling that HTC mail app and using the gmail app instead not only actually pushes email within seconds but also a lot of the lag seems to be absent. Weird, what the hell was HTC app doing, lol?

Unless I'm wrong, the HTC mail app will only push Exchange accounts. Everything else is polled at an interval. It can be a good part of keeping the phone awake/draining the battery. Though, it is for legitimate reasons.
So I can make my Galaxy S II 'crash on demand'. By that, I mean I can clearly reproduce a crash event by using the phone to do a certain thing.
Specifically, when I browse the timeline on the Facebook app - within about a minute my phone is guaranteed to crash. Screen goes black. And its off. Then I have to power it on again.
I've also noticed it crash in a few other places, such as while browsing the web.
Anyway, I'd like to find out why. Interestingly, even after flashing a totally different rom - the same problem occurs. And that includes a full Darkside Super Wipe. The phone has crashed like this ever since I got it, so whether its stock or a custom rom doesn't seem to matter.
Perhaps this means the issue is not file related, but rather a hardware issue? Bad memory maybe?
Any tips appreciated. The nice thing about this problem is I can try different solutions and quickly test by loading the Facebook app / crash scenario. So let me know what you would try !
Mine has a habit of doing this as well. Like you said, it happens both stock and custom. I don't use FB, so for me it happens randomly.

Out of curiosity, how often do you choose out apps running in the background? I've found that my phone will freeze & reboot if I have too many apps running in the background. Have you tried an app killing app?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
My guess is it probably is hardware related. I tear computers apart all the time and fix them back up... When something like that is happening... Its usually hardware. I would install the stock rom onto it and try to return it if thats still possible. Good luck.

Are you browsing "full" versions of web pages or mobile?
Sometimes on full versions there are so much java scripts (like j Query) in use that Android browser cannot handle it and crashes due to memory leak or something . "Totally different rom" is still based on same web-kit used to run java scripts on a web page. Try to turn java script Off on that offensive pages and retry.
check for free space
close back ground apps
only use legit apps from Android Market
When restoring from Backup, do not restore system settings / system apps
Does it crash when you just browse the net, after a flesh install, without installing anything else in the phone
chances for Apps/data causing problem 99%
chances for hardware problem 1%
I had a problem like this but it wasn't my phone it was the browser, chome... using firefox now and it seems the problem is gone.

Hi,
I bought Tab S 8.4 recently (3 weeks ago).
I face two issues and I appreciate your help..
1- Toucwiz: it happens frequently after I restart my tablet to find the error message (Unfortunately, Touchwiz stopped working). When I press OK, the screen blanks and starts working fine. I tried resetting the tablet to factory settings, clearing cache, clearing Touchwiz application setting.
The problem goes for some time and comes back. it doesn't really impact the tablet function but it is a kind of irritating.
2- Battery drains: I used to have ipad mini, the battery life was about 5 to 6 days.
For the Tab S, it is maximum three days. taking into consideration that I am using the tablet for emails, browsing, and rarely lite games.
Please, let me know if you face these problems and if you know the fix.
Thanks,

1. Re-flash your device firmware with Odin. Many guides about on its use. Check sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com
2. The browsing time has been shown to be less than SOME other tablets but media play exceeding most others (including mini) of the same form factor. Don't know what users expect for such a thin device device with a very high resolution. There are far more pixels to push
There is also power saving mode and ultra power saving mode. You could also use auto brightness with lower setting.
As your coming from an Apple device here are some info on best battery saving practices for Android :
7 Quick Tips To Extend Battery Life on Android 4.4 Kitkat
http://www.idroidspace.com/best-tips-to-extend-battery-life-on-android-4-4-kitkat-devices/
Specifically for Tab S:
- (I don't use this one as to me it reduces the value of my tablet) : "Select adaptive display off and use basic color better battery life but sacrifice some color". This suggestion came at the beginning of August before at least one update which may have negated it's value.
- Settings:
- Increase the time between services being synced (GMail, Calender... Etc)
- Turn off syncing for any service you don't use
- Turn off Bluetooth if your not using it
- Turn off WiFi scanning once you have added your WiFi access point(s)
- uncheck WiFi remaining alive when tablet is asleep (sorry forgot the specific setting name)
- Anything you can tolerate that reduces screen brightness.
- Turn off auto brightness and control it manually
- Reduce the auto brightness value assuming you still want auto brightness
If that is still not enough then you can install a battery app which tracks "wakelocks" (apps that keep your app awake even when it is not being used). After analyzing that info you can uninstall the worst offenders. Sometimes the worst ones are part of the system or an essential app so you must put up with the drain. See this XDA post for a good battery analysing app which is free for XDA members.

Likely the 1st link to the 7 tips article will give your the best bang for the buck.
Good luck

The weird thing is that the Touchwiz error appears only at the restart. Then the tablet continues working fine.
it is less probable to happen when I restart the tablet after it is shut down, and more probable to happen when I restart it by command.
It is not stopping me from using the tablet, but it is some how irritating.

Not a silly question.
A lot will be cleared up if you go ahead. You're data should be OK, but always recommend to save it off device.

I found the trigger ... Or I think I did
I cleared the Touchwiz data and cache .. so it went to the default configuration. I then started adding my widgets and shortcuts one by one.
I figured out that the Touchwiz fault happens when I add a short cut of an application installed on the microSD card.
I moved all the applications from the microSD to the internal memory and now Touchwiz works fine.
Now going to the microSD. The microSD I have is Transcend cat 10. It should be quite fast, and it is actually fast (R/W). However, I recall some posts regarding Transcend in-compatibility with new Samsung devices.
I have Galaxy S5 as well... same Transcend type and works fine.... BUT ... There is a Samsung application called User's digest for Samsung (or you can find it in the name of Vitamin's for Samsung).. It has a feature to place some tests to the handset. Both Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab S show the microSD card test result as "Disconnected"! ... I didn't care that much on the S5 as it didn't cause any problem, but now I started to care after what happened with the Tab S.
I ordered Samsung 32GB cat 10 microSD... should arrive in a week... will let you know about my experience.
It's confirmed now the touchwiz problem while starting the tablet is triggered by microsd.
The transcend I was using was fake. I am using an original one now and I can sense the enhancement in the read speed, as well as no touchwiz problem anymore.
Thanks,
How do I reboot in safe mode in galaxy tab s t705?
Thanks
If any of you are having Lag, slowness, signal issues, bad battery life, etc. and/or other weird glitches after the lollipop update you need to factory reset your phone.
This is a know bug with updating from Kitkat to lollipop. It has happened on many devices, Nexus 5, nexus 7, Shield tablet, N910A etc.
Just factory reset your phone and re-set it up and most if not all of the problems will be gone.
From my brief understanding it has to do with some downloaded apps not switching from davlink to ART correctly during the OTA process. Facebook on my shield tablet was a notorious culprit.
Just an FYI hope it helps a few people out.

We did have one person factory reset to attempt to solve the "heart rate light turning on" bug, and it did not solve the problem.
Have you noticed this bug or used S Health yet?
One list I always go through is: update, update all apps, boot into recovery, wipe cache, and reboot twice. Works great and I know a bunch of others see similar results

Luckily I was already running ART prior to the update to 5.0.1, so I haven't seen any of these issues yet, and hope none crop up. :good:
Luckily I haven't had any of the glitches a few people have mentioned. However, my friend with an S5 needed to factory reset hers after being pushed the lollipop update and it smoothed everything out. Just like when flashing a ROM guys...starting fresh helps a lot.
Anytime there is a major change to an OS, whether it be on my PC/Mac or my phone, I always factory reset and start over. ALWAYS. Too many little bugs and quirks pop up in software upgrades for me to waste my time with that stuff. I'd always rather start fresh...plus then I can weed out the apps I don't use anymore.
As an old habit, I always do a system reset after a major upgrade. I did the same with this upgrade and it has been running pretty smooth for me.
I am now experiencing lag in a bunch of places, yet I did a factory reset.

I did this right here cause I noticed my battery was draining a good amount when the phone wasn't being used. After this and a full charge, the phone went back to how it was before.
I wiped cache and factory reset 3 times and I haven't experienced any of the aforementioned issues.

This is what I did. I had absolutely no issues with the update.
The minor issue is the quick note app pops up very slowly. But that is fairly minor, and not significantly different from kitkat.
factory reset
I rebooted a couple of times after the update, and wiped cache in recovery. Still experienced lag all over the place, especially w/ the dialer. I factory reset last night and it's been running more smoothly since.
Has anyone noticed that when booting into recovery, it says "installing system updates"? I even got a message, before the recovery screen popped up, that "no command found". After that popped up briefly, the phone went into recovery and all seemed fine.

Yup,
Dead Andy then into recovery. Weird...
This update to lollipop on the note 4 has been the best update experience that I've had on any phone. Love it. And yes, factory reset solved many issues that were honestly minor and I really didn't feel I had to, but I did bc I'm crazy. ..but it was worth it.
Back up phone via kies, I am impressed it worked great.

I'm going to try this again. I've already done it before but hopefully this will fix my problem.
On 4.4 I went 2 days with heavy usage. It was insane! I use my phone a ton at work for RDP, videos, and other IT related stuff. Now I can barely go 1 good full day.... Really hope this fixes it.
My update went well without any troubles, but now I am few weeks into using Lollipop and I definitely notice faster battery drain. I also have disappearing icons, just like others complained (Google Hangout and Phone icon disappeared).
I'm not experience a lot of major issues....but I did do a recovery reset....but I reinstalled via kies. I'm planning on doing a recovery flash again....but this time I'm not going to have it install the apps.

I'm not experiencing this I'm actually getting very good battery life. Don't know if you have disabled the system apps you don't use???
Also something I always used to do when I had the T-Mobile note 4 rooted of course, I always disabled Samsung push services it was always recommended. Don't know if it would make any difference but you can give it a shot.
I have all the apps I don't use disabled and it still hasn't been helping. I'm thinking about calling ATT and getting an exchange

LOL.. that's funny way of saying
I will add this: since I turned HD voice off, the phone overall is working better. I suspect the unstable connection may have been utilizing more resources or something. However, it starts to freak out gaming because it gets HOT. That's why, in my truck, I play games (sitting still) I keep an AC vent aimed at it. Someone needs to invent a fan case...

I agree. This is an OS issue (memory leaks, generally crappy code), not a what-apps-are-running issue.
5.1.1 seems to have fixed this. The UI response is MUCH crisper now, more than you'd experience from simply clearing cache(s), re-indexing databases or factory resetting the device.
5.1.1 has removed ALL lag for me. No exaggeration. I use my GPS for several hours a day on average, play Injustice: GAU on and off for God knows how long. Zero lag, and no funky FC on Injustice. Can even use recent apps hop to date/time settings to employ that little "energy" hack. No hesitation. Instant. Even camera loads faster--not quite instantly, but MUCH faster than before for me. From launching Injustice to actually getting to play has moved up from 90-180 seconds (SRSLY) to 30-60 seconds!
