Hi people,
I am having an issue with the data usage feature i wanna know if anybody can help me with this.
My data usage does not measure the mobile network traffic and doesn't let me put a traffic limit either, but it does measure the wifi traffic.
Does anybody know why this happens?
just in case the mobile data is on and i am able to use internet without any trouble.
Thanks.

Hi All
I am going abroad with my touch pro 2 where data usage costs 1 kidney a meg.
I want to disable any data usage whilst i'm out there but wish to use garmin xt and the gps for navigation.
What is most reliable way of preventing a data connection?
I appreciate I can change the gateway settings, but if I am roaming will it still connect as I'm not on my home network and bill my provider?
I have seen an app nodata, is this reliable?
Anybody had any experience of this?

I searched and was not able to find anything related.
Has anyone thought about this?
I enjoy having a WiFi sleep policy when its idle. Maybe something like this exist for Mobile Networks?
I'm pretty sure something like this already exists. Check Settings>wireless&networks>mobile networks>enable always on mobile data. My experience is that if you disable this your phone will go go idle on mobile data about 10 minutes after you turn off the screen. The problem is that this will delay your email and data synced items by about 30min to an hour depending on your settings.
I experimented with it and didn't really notice a huge benefit to the battery life. But I also constantly pull my phone out to play with it (which re-activates on the network, i think).
I think I managed to say a lot of money by going with a low data plan, but they're telling me the android is going to constantly ping the Internet using up all the data allowance. Is there a way to disable the data functionality when I don't want it (like turning off wireless on a laptop)? When I'm connected to a Wi-Fi network, does it automatically use the local network instead of data minutes? If not, how can I make it do that.
I was able to find my data usage on my.t-mobile.com and verify that as long as Wi-fi is available, it will use it instead of the data plan. I was also able to confirm through another test that images in text messages don't count on the data plan, but under texts instead.
This is good. Now I have to find out how to tell if applications are pinging the network on their own or not.
yes indeed
Does anybody know what the data usage mode option in WiFi do
I didn't feel like it making much difference in WiFi speed
So I went into Settings -> Wireless Networks -> Data Usage... I wanted to try enabling the notifications, they seemed to work fine but I decided I didn't really need to be notified about data usage since switching to an unlimited plan, problem is I can't turn the data usage notifications off now? I can't change the data amount to nothing like it used to be before. Zero doesn't work either.
Anyone else run into this?
