Does anybody know what the data usage mode option in WiFi do
I didn't feel like it making much difference in WiFi speed

Does the Wifi Calling app save more battery? I've noticed the network signal turns off when I enable Wifi Calling

Yes, saves LOTS of battery. Big difference when wifi calling is on.

Expanding on OP:
Does WiFi automatically supersede data as well? And if so, is there battery saving in that case?

When you turn on WiFi, all data goes through WiFi assuming that there is a good signal on it (aka if WiFi is so bad there is no data throughput, the phone will turn mobile data back on). The phone will always choose WiFi and turn off mobile data. Some/most people say that this saves battery because the phone isn't always searching for mobile data. I'd say that this is more true if you're in a situation where there is poor/low 3G reception but good WiFi reception. I almost never use WiFi because I get full bars and good 3G speed at home. I see no reason to use WiFi in this situation as my phone isn't searching for better networks.
As far as WiFi Calling goes, in the settings of the app you can choose to have the phone "Prefer WiFi"/"Prefer Cellular"/"WiFi Only". Same thing here. If I use WiFi calling, I choose "Prefer WiFi" because if for some reason my WiFi goes down while I'm not using the phone I want the mobile network to come on so I can receive calls without having to toggle back. A situation I could see where "WiFi Only" would be applicable is if you're traveling and want to use WiFi for calls if you have a data-only prepay SIM, or if you're in an area with only Roaming coverage and you would want to just use WiFi to make calls.
Hi
Do you know if the 2G mode makes the DHD have a smaller battery consumption than 3G+ mode while the device is in standby mode (screen OFF) ?
Thanks
Nico
Obviously 2G will consume lesser battery than 3G.
But the difference will be very less while in standby mode because you are not utilizing the network in anyway. But if you intend to use (calls internet etc) the difference will be far larger.

and what about the "2g/3g automatic switch mode" ?
Thanks
Nico
no difference if ur just making calls and texting ,,,
If in your place isn't that much covered with 3g and you don't have flat 3g net, i would choose 2g, or even better .
GSM ( auto PRL ) mode is the best for battery ( *#*#4636#*#* > phone info )
If you're not using the 3G internet then I'd suggest you keep your network to 2G. Consumes less power while making calls. I've experienced measurable battery power gains while being on 2G only.
3G preferred or 2G/3G auto switching consumes even more power I think as it tries to switch between the two from time to time.
Hi,
I know battery drains faster if I have bad connection in my area. When I go in my battery option, I know the 'yellow' connection (see attached image) means i have bad connection and my battery drains faster because of that. My question is if I turn wifi calling on and turn off the data, which one will drain the battery faster? wifi calling or the 'yellow' bad connection?
Thanks.
Hi, facing a strange issue, the issue is when I use 4G or 3G on phone I get good speed around 15Mbps to 18Mbps, while sharing the Internet to Laptop by USB tethering I get full speed, but whereas while sharing the Internet over Wifi Tethering, it seems like the speed is getting restricted to max 4Mbps-5Mbps. Any help with this matter will be appreciated. Thanks
pl check if you have not enabled data saver mode or have divided the internetnet connced devices speeds.. For all folks pl check developer mode.. or use #*#*4636#*#* from your diler pad.
There's a setting within advanced Wi-Fi settings on my note 10 plus that it's called switch to mobile data.
The setting essentially allows me to switch to mobile data if a Wi-Fi signal is low it essentially to my understanding switches between the two on its own depending on how weak or strong the signal is.
I currently have it turned off, but I am curious in regards to leaving it on for simplicity sake it makes things easier rather than always having to turn on and off Wi-Fi.
Has anyone used this setting and if so does the setting severely drain the battery life?
Any information to be greatly appreciated thank you.

It's going to drain a bit more in most circumstances. If you have a weak WiFi connection and a weak Mobile connection, it may be pretty substantial. Best bet is to try it and see how it goes.
If beeing connected all the time is important for you, the battery consumption should not be that high, depending on the signal strenght, but, if data is always on, data use is what precisely will go up
