I got my Cruzerlite Mahogany Wood skin today... Uninstalled the Carbon Fiber dbrand inc. skin and installed this one... I must say, it looks quite nice... Before I talk about my experience, I just want to point out the quality is amazing... the same 3M vinyl is used as with dbrand and slickwraps but at literally less than half the cost shipped in the US...
Removing the old skin without breaking it was kinda tough but a blow dryer certainly helped for removal and installation of the new one... Speaking of installing, this one seemed a tad bit harder to do than the dbrand skin... I think its because the fit on this one is MORE precise and doesn't allow as much wiggle room... The edge of the skin is closer to the edge of the phone than on the dbrand... The sides wrap nicely but without the curve that dbrand adds to their cut, this one for sure needed a blow dryer to almost shrink the corners down to form to the phone... But there's no gap at all with each intersecting side skin like with dbrand which was something that bothered my OCD lol... I kinda wish it was all cut from the same piece of vinyl, especially with wood grain but that's just being nit picky... If you're going to be swapping SIM cards out or just don't wanna have to remove anything if the need rises, the Cruzerlite skin has a cutout for that... Something the dbrand skin doesn't do and was quite annoying the other day when i had to swap out my SIM with someone at work... There's also a little cut for the headphone jack on the Cruzerlite back skin something the dbrand back doesn't do/need b/c it doesn't even wrap up that high...
They also included several extra pieces, I guess in case installation goes bad or if something happens later on and you need to install another piece... For comparison, I paid ~$19 for just the back/sides of my dbrand skin and with this wood skin i paid ~$13 for back/sides/front + double sides/front/camera cover... Shipping time was also much faster with Cruzerlite but that's to be expected since its shipping from within the US whereas dbrand ships from Canada eh...
All in all, I'm surprisingly happy with the result and customer service from Cruzerlite was great!! I might grab a skin from Slickwraps just to compare and decide who I'll be using for the majority of my skins... For now, the value seems to be there in the Cruzerlite skin and i can't wait to order more!!
Here's the link to their site for all the N5 skins... Plenty to choose from! Cruzerlite Nexus 5 - Skins
Enough chat, on with some installed pics!
Thanks! Convinced enough to get silver carbon fiber. Did u get crumpled up corners due to using a heat dryer? I bought a skinomi for my g2 and was pissed how difficult it was to get flat.

i should probably document the process for the sides... it was a slight challenge to put on with the corners needing to be pressed/shrunk down... the trick is to use low heat and not blaze the damn phone lol... i would suggest following the edges of the back since that's the wider part of the sides... don't stretch it across either... then when its all in place, use light heat to warm it up slowly (2-4 seconds of heat) and press/rub the corner down... repeat for each corner... here's how mine turned out... sorry for the pic, i only have my phone right now to take pictures of the phone lol...
Lol sounds like too much corner work unfortunately

lol... its really not that hard... just remember that its a vinyl wrap so too much heat and it will likely deform the skin... that's with any skin though not just this one...
Wow the skin looks amazing! I'm not a fan of the skin choice but the skin itself is great!

I might end up buying the lime green one. All the skins look amazing and they wrap the entire phone too which other skins don't. I just wish the teal was this color instead and i would have bought it right away.
Joel when did you guys start selling these? I'm amazed I hadn't seen them till today. They look really nice I'm excited to get mine. You guys offer so many different prints

Cant recomend this skin
If what I got is what everyone is gonna get. The Nexus cut out on the OP skin doesnt look evenly cut out at all the "e" looks huge compared to the other letters and the x cut outs look different size cuts aswell.
This is how mine came today I got the White Antibacterial, the Nexus cut out looked bad noticeably off the bat, it had some extra bits from the cut attacehd on one of the letters aswell. The back skin was also cut uneven so when put on there were some sides/corners that were longer than others so some of the sides were closer to the edge of the phone than the other so you notice more gaps on the uneven side/corners.
Now onto the side pieces, the way they were cut made it very hard to get the corners nearest to the glass to stick cause there is extra slack that I can pinch a bit since they are not curved, the blow drier didnt help this either. The front pieces were the only ones that seemed pretty ok. But other than that the skin I got was not cut well I hope thats not how they all are or will be. I expected better from Cruzerlite so I messaged CL to see If I can get a replacement cause maybe this one was faulty or there machine needs to be adjusted I took it off in the mean time cause it looked pretty ratty.

Also does anyone use any cases with these skins?

Did a little search, didn't see a similar thread.
I love my Captivate, and have been looking into ways to make it better constantly; be it software or hardware. I recently picked up a decal skin off of ebay, and wanted to share.
I love the color red; a lot of the things I carry around are red. Captivate didn't come in red so I settled with black... until I bought a decal skin from Wireless Flavor on ebay.

So I think it'd be neat for everyone to post up their Captivate, a brief explanation of where they got their skin etc., and perhaps a mini review.
As for my purchase, I like it. I didn't want something much thicker as I liked the slim profile, but I wanted to protect against scratches as well. There's a slight bump on the back due to the Galaxy S logo, but I don't mind it. Are there any plain plastic backs that can be bought?
Lets get posting!
Looks like I need to visit iskinit.com and remake my bruce lee decal again.... (like what I had on my N1)
do the bottom soft keys still work as good as without the decal on it?

They're not as sensitive, so you need to apply a little more pressure when using them. I don't mind it, I found myself more annoyed before when I'd accidentally tap the wrong key.

That red decal skin looks awesome! I assume that was a store on ebay and not an one time offer sort of deal? Id love to have something like that.
Oh and is the screen protected or is it just a hole for where the screen is?

Yeah, it's just a regular decal skin from ebay.
The screen isn't protected no... I'm not sure if I can actually fit a screen protector with the red skin. I try to be careful in general and have only noticed small scratches thus far, and only when tilted at the right angle in bright light. I might regret it later... but I figure by that time I'll just upgrade to a new phone.

Yeah plus if you notice when your applying them I don't like putting all much of the solution down that the screen protector starts to stretch and then I end up having to come back in with a razor to clean up the edges.

Although I like my phone as it is, I am desperate to get rid of the "Samsung" at the bottom (would like it unbranded). I have an Otterbox Defender case which covers the AT&T at the top but not the brand name at the bottom.
Can you tell me if these stickers would work fine? Since I use a case which covers most of the phone I was planning to get either the gradient blue or jet black and apply only the front decal.
Incipio SILICRYLIC in blue exclusively for T-Mobile USA.
The case is very, very nice. The soft material is very comfortable and a joy to grip. The plastic is also a great "soft" feeling material. I've jumped through 4 premium cases so far and this is by far the best one for what I want in a case. The only thing that stopped me from buying this in the 1st place, was the colors available on the Incipio site. The color of this one is more of a metallic teal than the blue that it looks in the pictures. I'd rather have the blue, but the teal is very attractive in person.
The case is $30 at T-Mobile (I snagged it for like $23). I would've payed the $30 though no problem. Cause I feel the case is way better than some that are priced higher.
The main thing about this case - It's easy to take off so I can swap batteries. This is a must for me as I've tried it with the speck case, the body glove dimensions and the case-mate barely there and this is by far the easiest to take off.
When it comes to protection, this is number 1 from the ones I've tried. And that includes the speck candy shell. The reason this beats the speck? Cause you seriously run a risk of cracking the gs3 screen while trying to remove it from the speck. And there should be no reason that a case, can make you risk breaking your phone while trying to do a simple task like removing it.
Some say "use a tool to remove the speck". Nah, I'll pass. If the 10 tools that I use daily for other jobs (fingers), can't remove the case, then the case is a p.o.s.
If the phone falls in this case, it has just as much of a survival rate as that of the candy shell, if not more... I have dropped phones from waist high with a Incipio feather on it and it didn't have a mark on it (gs2). I'm pretty sure that this case can do better. The candy shell, though it has a hard and soft material, is a lot less shock absorbing than this. The reason is the specks "soft material", isn't nearly as soft as this Incipio case. And for that reason alone, I feel there's a risk of less shock absorption with it than this case.. Drop a rock and a sponge and tell me which one does better...
Here's the pics.

How is the sides? Does the rubber lift up while handling it. Seems like it might with not much support along the sides. Also how are the button presses? Still crisp and "clicky" if you will?

Nah, it doesn't really "lift up". Of course where the volume buttons are it's a little "looser" than the rest. But it has less support. It's not a problem as it only "lifts up" when you try to make it "lift up".
I too have the Incipio "silicrylic" for my galaxy s3. Ebay order, about $25 IIRC. I went with the standard black and was pleased as well.
Echo the comments on the "soft" feeling texture of the case. It is a snug fit, but nothing that would damage the phone going on/off. Rubber comes up and around the sides for a ridge on the face (clear in your pics) I'd take some pics of mine but black is black lol...
All around a great case. I have this case and the vented Samsung (the one with the coin kickstand thing). I use this case daily.
The two layer approach, rubber + the shell really seems effective.
Oh, and fit around the buttons is excellent imho. I don't feel it takes any more effort or is any difficult at all with the rubber case over the buttons.
The screen protector they give you with it isn't that great though (imho). I've tried both ZAGG and Skinomi, plus the one that came with the Incipio. So far, I like Skinomi the best, but I ordered the ZAGG replacement because the store guy goofed the install...
Anyway man great review, I feel ya on giving it high marks. I like that case as well. Not a bad pick up for $25.
Biggest downside is you're covering up a fine looking phone!

There was a 30% coupon that expired on 6/30. You can't stack it with the 25% employee discount. Some did stack with the buy 2 get one free. No longer valid though.
Are the edges rounded and have a nice finish? I had it for my Amaze and the case was haggard. Sharp edges and they didn't have much attention to detail.

Yea, nah, I didn't use them but wish I would've known about those before they expired.
The edges are not jagged or anything. The whole case is smooth
These are cheaper on Amazon though than they are with the 20% off from Incipio.
Could I get a top shot of the plastic part of the case and a close up of the edges finish? If you don't mind. Thank you.

The edges have enough silicone to stay in place. As long as you don't have super tight pants you're fine.
Anyone know where the Yellow/Grey case is exclusive to? Seems like different carriers may have gotten different colors?

I have a black one on my gs3, and I would say the grip is good. It's "soft" and still has enough texture to be grippy. It shouldn't slide out of your pants. I use it with dress pants (think suit pants) at work everyday. No issue.
The texture of the outer shell is actually different than the inner rubber. Shell is more soft and smooth, while the inner rubber is soft and tacky. Top, bottom, and button covers are left as rubber, while the outer basically covers the back and corners. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the review, I just picked one up from my local T-mobile store, they were giving me weird looks for being in there when I had AT&T
It looks and feels fantastic on my blue phone, contrary to the pictures the outlining is more of a dark grey in limited/low lighting situations, not the light grey that you see in some of the pictures.
I tried the black/black (local AT&T prime mobile has that and the black/yellow) and I found that on the blue phone the black diminished the overall look of the phone imo.
I would really like the dark grey outlining and possibly a light grey/black cover, seems like it would look good like that, but I'm happy with my purchase, thanks again!
Edit: I'll try to take some pictures to show what I mean, they should be up later

Man this thing came fast! I ordered it last Thursday night, it arrived today. 2 business days from New York, this seller is on it! Not bad considering I live on the West Coast.
Fit and finish:
When I opened up the package and grabbed the case out of it's blister pack the first thing I noticed was the whole thing was not TPU like I thought it was going to be. The shiny plastic part is a hard plastic and the dull part is silicone. The shiny part isn't so hard that it'll break if you bend it, although I wouldn't try tying it in a knot either, it does have some give to it but it's pretty rigid at the same time. The silicone part is nice cause not only does it provide a lip on the front side of the case allowing you to set the phone face down without damaging it, but it also allows the buttons to be pressed as easily as if nothing was over them. Very nice touch! When looking at the phone from the front you can hardly tell it's even got a case on it, very low profile, very little bulk added. From the back it's much more noticeable due to the way it frames the battery cover, which accentuates my white carbon fiber cover perfectly. The lip it adds to the backside is more significant, I'd guess to ensure you don't mess up your camera/flash/speaker/cover when setting the phone face up.
There is room for improvement though....The cutouts are fairly accurate but the top mic opening is a bit off, it doesn't cover the mic but it's noticeably off centered. You can also see the excess from the mold it was formed in and the transitions from plastic to silicone isn't exactly the smoothest. These are the fine details that can make a good product a great one but it won't be noticed or cared about by most. To be honest, I don't even care about it and i'm very particular, but I like to keep my reviews true and honest.
Once caressed into place, the case fits like a glove and looks very nice. The grip in comparison to the Seidio Surface case is significantly better. This is a minimalists' dream! It protects the corners and edges of the phone, has some screen protection, some camera/battery cover protection, while adding insignificant bulk and allowing you to show off your nice battery cover.
Final thought:
Want drop protection with minimal bulk? This case is for you. It feels good in the hand, adds grip, highlights your battery cover by framing it nicely and when handling the phone without looking at it (putting in or out of your pocket, for example) it gives the feel of a naked phone for the most part. I have finally found a setup i'm 100% happy with, minus the screen protector...but that's going to be changed out for a SPG Ultra Nano Clear as soon as I feel like doing it. The seller is awesome, ships super fast and the product is well worth the cost, which is just $7 shipped. Matter of fact, i'm gonna see if they have any other colors available. Highly recommended!
Here's what my phone looks like with my Carbon fiber battery cover, REALook screen protector and full TPU bumper case

So if you drop your phone with the case with the screen facing the ground will it make contact with the ground? Same for the back facing the ground.

I think ur gonna love it. It's amazing to me that this $7 case is much grippier than the $30 Seidio Surface. I can rest this thing in my hand, not even squeezing it from the sides, and hold it damn near vertical before it begins to slide down in my hand. And how sleek it is, man i'm really diggin' this setup.

I got it from eBay as well, yes it'll fit perfectly. The only difference between the Intl. version and the US version is internals.
I got my self a pack 2 tone color bumpers 5 for 12 from hong kong with a white carbon fiber back the bumpers are amazing. The fit is small lip on the front and back to keep the screen and camera lense off of surfaces. The button response is flawless, it looks sexy and it fits snug. Im so happy with this purchase

Thanks, I love it. Not sure I can explain it any other way than I already have. I have a TPU case, I can bend and twist that thing however I want and never fear it will break.....cant say the same for this bumper. It's bendable but much more rigid than TPU and certainly feels as if it'll break if bent too much. This isn't a complaint at all as being able to tie my case into a knot is not a prerequisite, its just an observation.
These are the ones i got im currently rocking red.

I just finally pulled the trigger on a bumper case and the carbon fiber back. I was mulling over the back for a while and you convinced me to get it. I was also looking for a minimalistic case and this fits my needs perfect.

Hi guys some of you may have seen my other thread about the red leather skin that I reviewed on here from smartskins, if not you can find it here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281437
This thread is for a new skin that I purchased off them quite recently, the slate and gold brushed metal combo. First of all this skin looks GREAT on the HTC One with the top and bottom section gold and the middle as black (looks slate/grey in certain lighting but black head on).
The black middle part of the skin has a glitter effect in it which looks really nice and the fit is really good too. You can check out the pictures below;

This is a very nice skin, which seems pretty durable due to the thickness of it, and their customer service is great! The cutouts and all seem pretty bang on,its just that I dont have the patience to keep re-aligning it!
Its the second skin Ive had off them with no problems whatsoever so I highly recommend them, heres the link to this skin specifically:

My God those color combos are fantastic!! I've been frequently looking through their ebay listings but I guess they must have just uploaded more skins or something. Only thing stopping me is that it's in the UK and I ordered a red carbon fiber one. I'm also a loyal dbrand Customer and curious as the fitment

The fitment is pretty good overall if you have the time and patience haha, also you can take it off and reapply it a few times, it doesn't lose the adhesiveness. I live in the UK so it's all good for me

And yup I tried it with two different cases, the two front pieces do get raised slightly on the corners, but I guess you could avoid that by not putting those pieces on. You can push em down but the cases I have tried are really snug so makes it kinda hard! Oh well guess I'll use it without a case
Do you have an email address to smartskin for those who want to order outside of ebay

I have these two off eBay for about $1.65 USD each
Here it is on a white Nexus 5 (ironic I know). The texture is rubbery, similar to the black nexus 5 but cheaper feeling and not as good. The rubber kind of comes off on the edges after using it for some months. When you get it, there is a lot of edges that are sharp so you should sand it off yourself. I used an exacto knife to carve it off.
Here it is now, photo overexposed to show how scratched up it can get. You can kinda rub it so it goes away.
Close up
Here it is side by side
The sky blue colored one looks very bright when I bring it outside, it really depends on the lighting in the surrounding area too.

True dat. Most of the replicas are pretty good now, and only a trained eye can tell the difference. I actually like the "replica" official bumper cases. They look and fit great, and for around 10-12 dollars, you really can't beat it. I've got 3 "official" cases now, and am probably going to buy all the colors. I have the yellow, blue, and green. I've seen a white one, but it's $40 on ebay. For 40? No. Just need the black, grey and red one to have them all. The green and yellow they really pop with color.
But if you get one of these, don't set it on it's back since it's completely flat. You'll wind up scratching the back pretty quick. Since there is a big enough lip on the front face of the case, you can set it on the face and keep it looking good for a while.
I'll take some pics of my cases when the next 2 arrive in the mail. I think I have about 10 right now.

I really like the bugdroid case, but would get the blue or red. Since I have a red nexus 5, red case on red phone might look really good.
I've got the replica Official Bumper case and I'm loving it. Its a perfect fit and seems to protect the phone without much noticeable bulk. Only problem with it is that the matte coating starts to peel off on the sides. But doesn't bother me since I have the black colour. Bought it from Aliexpress for about $11 free shipping within 3weeks.

All my cases!!!
I've got way too many cases to show here, cuz I'm a bit of a case collector
But I'll showcase my favorite cases, which I use the most in my day-to-day life, and the link where i bought them
#1: Spigen Crystal case
This was my first case, and I've loved it since the first minute I used it. Its slim, simple, protects the phone from scratches and light drops and still shows the original back (which is awesome now cuz I'm rocking the True Red dbrand back ). It came with a super thin screen protector, and I'm still using it today. Only problem is it's see-through plastic, so scratches on the case are clearly visible, but i don't mind it that much. Ordered a new one already to replace it when it breaks
#2: Ultrathin protective case from DX.com
Ordered this one just because i thought it was kinda cool, and simple, and cheap its super flexible and not really good against big drops but it is decent against scratches. Its a bit see-through, which is awesome when i combine it with the red dbrand skin.
#3: ROCK classic flip case
Definitely the nicest case i've got. Its thin, minimal, protects against medium drops and scratches, and just looks damn sexy. Bought this one from DX.com, but it seems to be sold out at the moment of writing this. Its very minimal, has no magnetic lock functionality, and also doesnt have a hole for the LED light. Still its really awesome, feels nice in the hand, is compact and easy to use. If you're looking for a simple, sexy, thin and cheap flip case this is the best i could find.
I also have a pouch, a home-made bumper case from a fake Google Nexus 5 case (just removed everything except the border), an s-style rubber case just in case, and a kick-stand case. I also use my phone often without a case, cuz the feel of the dbrand skin is just awesome.
Hope u liked this (way to long) post.
Just got my Carved case today. Definitely the nicest looking case I've ever used. It's pretty slim so I wouldn't expect it to stop a bullet, but Ill probably grab a glass screen protector, cause I'm sticking with this case haha.
