I love my Captivate, and have been looking into ways to make it better constantly; be it software or hardware. I recently picked up a decal skin off of ebay, and wanted to share.
I love the color red; a lot of the things I carry around are red. Captivate didn't come in red so I settled with black... until I bought a decal skin from Wireless Flavor on ebay.

So I think it'd be neat for everyone to post up their Captivate, a brief explanation of where they got their skin etc., and perhaps a mini review.
As for my purchase, I like it. I didn't want something much thicker as I liked the slim profile, but I wanted to protect against scratches as well. There's a slight bump on the back due to the Galaxy S logo, but I don't mind it. Are there any plain plastic backs that can be bought?
Lets get posting!
Looks like I need to visit iskinit.com and remake my bruce lee decal again.... (like what I had on my N1)
do the bottom soft keys still work as good as without the decal on it?

They're not as sensitive, so you need to apply a little more pressure when using them. I don't mind it, I found myself more annoyed before when I'd accidentally tap the wrong key.

That red decal skin looks awesome! I assume that was a store on ebay and not an one time offer sort of deal? Id love to have something like that.
Oh and is the screen protected or is it just a hole for where the screen is?

Yeah, it's just a regular decal skin from ebay.
The screen isn't protected no... I'm not sure if I can actually fit a screen protector with the red skin. I try to be careful in general and have only noticed small scratches thus far, and only when tilted at the right angle in bright light. I might regret it later... but I figure by that time I'll just upgrade to a new phone.

Yeah plus if you notice when your applying them I don't like putting all much of the solution down that the screen protector starts to stretch and then I end up having to come back in with a razor to clean up the edges.

Although I like my phone as it is, I am desperate to get rid of the "Samsung" at the bottom (would like it unbranded). I have an Otterbox Defender case which covers the AT&T at the top but not the brand name at the bottom.
Can you tell me if these stickers would work fine? Since I use a case which covers most of the phone I was planning to get either the gradient blue or jet black and apply only the front decal.

I bought 5pcs for about $3 off of ebay which is a great deal but it looks like they were cut wrong because it doesnt line up great.
Here is the link:

I really dont want to pay $18 for a single one, like Steinheil.
My question is, have any of you bought cheap ones that lines up perfect with the phone and corners?
As with many things you get what you pay for.
I have the Skinomi which one of the early ones available and its been ok:
http://www.skinomi.com/
The more I use them the more I recommend the wet apply one as they seem to have less bubble and last longer. For people who are worried just go to best buy or a mall stand and have someone who installs them all day install it.
Most of the newer screen protectors don't line up directly to the edge if thats what your referring to. They save space on the edges so that it doesn't peel off as easy and a lot of new cases cover the edges to. Plus they save money by using less material. I have the ones from verizon and they dont go edge to edge. I even believe that the new Zagg's are being cut the same way.

I actually hate the ones that uses water to install, such as invisiShield. They are not as slippery as the ones that stick on there.
Is skinomi requires water to install?

No I am definitely not looking for a perfect fit but the ones I bought does not line up straight, from top corner to bottom corner. I can buy verizon protectors $9 for 3pcs. So, if they dont line up crooked I am fine.
i bought this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...BX5A/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1324879125&sr=8-6
i think it's worth it since i started using that brand since my first android, 2 yrs ago. it's really tough and durability is super good.
The reason why the nexus doesn't have a dry install that doesn't extend to the edge because our screens are slightly curved so they will create bubbles at the top and bottom of the screen. The wet screens protector will fit better because they are more bendable
I use a brand called terrapin on my GN. They're cheap on eBay but they're made from very hard plastic. They go right to the edges of the screen and fit really well with cut outs in the right place for the speaker, camera and various sensors.
The quality of these protectors is brilliant, no affect on screen quality at all and there's no rainbow effect or orange peel. There's a few light scratches I can see on the screen protector when bright lights are shone on the unlit screen but as soon as you wake the screen up you can't see them at all.

I would still use a screen protector dust/sand/dirt can get on your fingers and still scratch it plus anything gets in the case and the cover may scratch it. I am super paranoid about scratches though so it may be just me.
There's a bunch of discussion in the Accessories forum on which screen protector is the best. I vote for Verizon "clear" one.

In their videos the take a dremel to one and it stops the bit. No way the cheap plastic ones would.
Orange peel is my biggest problem with expensive ones such as invisible shield.
XO skins looks pretty legit. I wish I had seen it before I purchased the one I posted earlier

One of those will last the life-time of the phone.
I'm pretty much a minimalist when it comes to phone cases.
I already have ghost armor film on the front so I just need a bumper that protects the side bezel, just like iPhone 4's. I'd rather not have back cover since I have a white gs2.
Is there anything like that available?
nothing, how about something like this?http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-TPU-T...405692?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3cc0116ebc

I'm pretty sure D30 had release them. They had it where you can have the bumpers only, or with the clear back. I saw them while I was inside the T-Mobile store a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if they have it in all the corporate stores.
I'm surprised there is not many option available for t-mobile version gs2... I just ordered white version of elbarto's link though it's not exactly what I was looking for.will post picss once I receive it. thansk everyone
I take that back, it was for the Galaxy S 4G, not the Galaxy S II 4G
The D30 flex protect is the closest thing to a bumper for our phone.

Have you considered getting a clear TPU case? I also have the white GS2 and I ordered this case right here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00620FT76/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details
Honestly, I think it looks ****ty on the black model, but I can vouch for it on the white one. It fits snugly on the phone and has power button and volume rocker cutouts. It's nice because it's totally transparent and you can see the white back. If anything, it just makes the phone look more badass.

Not taking any chances with this device. TPU cases offer minimal protection against drops, sure its cheap but I'd rather dish out the extra bucks for a reliable case. I have dropped my device many times already from carpet (not much to that I know ) to hardwood floors and the case has kept my device looking like new.

If you are minimalist, then you don't need a screen protector for your device. The screen of your device is pretty resistant (Gorilla corning).
For case, I am also looking for one, the thinnest I have seen are the carbon ones. TPU ones are a bit bulky IMO.

Hello everyone. I just got a Speck case in gray/black and thought I'd throw some comparison photos up. So far I love my Speck case.
The Speck case was a little tight around the volume key, which made it hold the volume up button down. I slipped a piece of paper in above the volume key and now it functions perfectly. Hopefully it'll stretch out with time and allow me to take the paper out. I'll keep you guys updated. The Speck case is a little bit more bulky than the Cruzerlite, but feels more solid.
The Cruzerlites were a little sharp around the edges which peeled my screen protector (Flex HD) up. I sanded them down a little, which fixed the issue, but i managed to scuff the inside of the back up a little. That's what the line around the top corner is in a few of the pictures.

I got the clear/white Android cruzerlite case and the Cimo case.
I can't really recommend the Cimo case, but the Cruzerlite ones are awesome. Adds just enough grip and protection without turning the phone into a huge oversized brick. (I accidentally dropped my sgs3 about 3.5' getting out of the Jeep and it just bounced - no damage to the phone or case. And they have just enough lip on the face to protect it when you set it down on mostly-flat surfaces.) Someone was telling me they are made in the USA, which is an added bonus if true.
I love those Speck cases, but I swear your "grey/black" looks different from the "soot/black" photos elsewhere. Maybe just the lighting or because it's on a white phone.
I do believe I'll have to run into my local ATT store this weekend and pick one up.
Where did you get the clear matte one? I cant find it on amazon, i found the teal but not the, clear matte. Would you guys say get the diztronic clear matte or cruzerlite?

I just seen this protector on CPN and the design is unique, piqued my interest. I haven't seen another like it. Anybody have it and if so, how is the fit and clarity? Does the colored areas match the phone nicely and blend it as it should does it stand out like a sore thumb?

I had one on my atrix 2, and while i liked it, I dont know how well it would fair against the bevelled edges of the screen, being that it is completely flat.... Anyone else who has one some input on this would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance....

I've seen a lot of these before an installed many of them for people and everytime i did it fit very very well and highly recommend over any other screen protector on the basis that you can remove it wash it and dry it and use it again. Zagg sucks

I bought this from my local ATT store a few days ago...
I am Mixed on if I like it or not. The fit and finish is very nice... it feels nice and doesn't have a problem with the beveled edge.
The Clarity of the screen is good... but it is not as good as a naked screen I have the iVisor AG and the AG stands for anti glare. it does cut down on glare but it does muddy the image some.
As far as the visor part matching.. it does not match perfectly. You can see the cutouts on the bottom of the phone for the 2 soft keys. It's not terrible but it's not perfect either.
one thing I do love about it is 0 fingerprints and the quality of the screen is very good. I feel very confident that my screen is protected. 0 bubbles, application is a breeze and you can pull it off and clean it. Although I haven't had to yet.
I paid 25 bucks and that is a bit steep if you ask me, I was really feeling vulnerable having my phone naked so i went ahead and bought it.
anyways.. my .02

Thanks for the link. On the white phone there is some led bleeding around the capacitive buttons, I'd imagine this would significantly decrease that. Hmm.....might have to stop by AT&T tomorrow

I usually can't stand most screen protectors especially anti-glare, but this new moshi ivisor ag on my galaxy 3 is incredible. Inside screen looks great and fool proof to put on take off and back on again!

I had one and I didnt like it. Install was easy and bubble free.
It was far to easy to get dust between the screen and the protector it self. Also had a hard time getting any case to work with it. Maybe it was just my bad luck? Then again maybe not.
Try it out! You may like it. I on the other hand didn't find it all that great. Way to pricey and the screen protector seemed to have collected dust and lint like crazy.
I bought one for the pebble blue, and really liked it. Did a great job of preventing fingerprints. Overall, it blended in very nice. Most people didnt even realize a SP was on it.
I ended up returning it and just getting a basic SP because I couldn't use it along with the TPU case I got. Because the iVisor goes all the way to the edges, when I put the case (Diztronic Matte Black) on, it would push the iVisor up. The case was more important to me, so I opted for the regular SP that doesn't go all the way to the edge. This will work until I get an Otterbox Defender.
If you don't use a case...the iVisor works very well.

Good to hear. Does the part covering the screen lay flat against the screen or is there a bit of room between them? The way I imagine you'd be able to tell is when you press on the screen to type or swipe, you'd see some movement in the protector possibly causing a slight degredation of the display.

That goes with any protector, as far as getting dust trapped. That's more of an issue with your environment and your prep work than the protector itself. What case were you trying to use with it? Yeah, it's very pricey but worth it if it can be reused, as user friendly as claimed and doesn't degrade the display much like most AG protectors do. I like that it covers the whole screen but doesn't present the danger of installing a wet application protector....nor the downtime that goes along with those.

Yeah, those TPU's fit very tight so I could see how that would be a problem with this protector. I use a Incipio Silicrylic so hopefully I'll be fine cause I stopped by the AT&T store today and picked one up! Gonna install it later on and see how I like it, will post a review as well.
I love mine I got the white one eventhough I have the pebble blue phone. I think the contrast looks nice even where the menu buttons appear. It was hard to find a case that fits right with this protector but this speck case goes great with it. Please ignore the bad photos can't find my nexus or camera so found a thundebolt laying around to take pics. For a 35 dollar case it scratches easily but still looks and feels great and provides reliable protection

Looks good...I hope the Seidio Surface fares better than your Speck
I just found a Nillkin Nexus 5 case on eBay. I really enjoyed my Nillkin Nexus 4 case. I'll be posting a review of it once it makes it to my doorstep from China. I'm purchasing it because of the unfortunately sharp edges on the spiegen ultra fit case I tried first. (Don't buy that spiegen case! You'll be sorry)
Edit: Alright, I finally got my case. It's great. Feels just like the case I loved so much on my N4. The edges aren't too sharp like the spiegen I had. The back texture is nice. It feels like rubber coated plastic. If you guys want any pictures or want me to try anything with it, just let me know.

Mine came like this with a screen protector too...
Lastly, here it is for $7.77 (lucky, eh?).
They also come in gold and red which I don't have pictures of here.
Thank you! I was waiting for Nillkin to make a case for the Nexus 5. I have it for my Nexus 4 and I simply love the build quality.
Have one for my LG, excellent case. Just ordered one for the Nexus 5 as well. Highly recommend this.
Looks cool, and the price is right. Bought a white one.
Is it a rubber or plastic material?
Wow that case looks really nice gonna order one pretty soon i think.

From what my Nexus 4 case is like (same manufacturer) it feels like soft rubber on the outside and a little harder on the inside. I think it's probably all rubber though. Maybe it's rubber coated plastic? I'd highly recommend it whatever it is based off of my previous experience. If this is like the other one, it holds the phone slightly off of the table if you have it screen down too.
^ I didn't have a problem with yellowing because I got black last time
Loved their case on my Nexus 4. Will definitely get this
How well are the top and bottom protected? It's hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like if the phone was dropped on an end you'd have some damage?

You're probably right. If the phone were dropped on the back top or back bottom it would probably be okay, but it doesn't offer much protection for the front. It's mainly a scratch protector for those that don't drop their phone often.
Im going to order one today also. Was hoping Rock also had their cases out but doesnt matter. Can always buy one when they do!!
Was going to grab a white one for my white phone but I do think it will go yellow after time, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
Logic says go white for white phone, but either way, the back is going to be covered by the case so what difference. Maybe ill go a gold case for a change?

I think it's brown (just don't want you to be disappointed). I mean, it's $9... if it yellows... just buy another? Of course it's all up to you

Been using a Nillkin Case since I purchased my Nexus 4. It survived several drops since then. You can't go wrong with this one.
