Unable to upgrade from 4.4 to 4.4.2 - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I have a Tmobile LTE Deb, it has 4.4, rooted with TWRP recovery. I received 4.4.2 OTA tonight, clicked reboot and upgrade, it went to TWRP but failed to upgrade, it went so quick, I couldn't see an error, I don't know where the OTA was downloaded to. So I downloaded 4.4.2 zip for LTE upgrade from the thread here, when I tried to flash it from TWRP, I received this weird error "This package is for DEB devices, this device is a FLO". I downloaded again, reinstall, same error. My device is a deb as you can see from the attachment. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Maybe it's the download for 4.4.2 from 4.4.1, and you still have 4.4. You can download the KRT16S to KOT49H or go from KRT16S to KOT49E then KOT49E to KOT49H. Go here

You're probably using a recovery made for flo. Download the one for deb and you should be good to go.

You're right on. Somehow the root toolkit flashed wrong TWRP. I flashed TWRP for Deb and it is good to go. Thanks a bunch!

Too scared to update since I'm not on stock rom and it might make more problems with my airave but it's 39.7 MB.
Any news on this?
trust me if you are rooted it an't gonna install. If you keep pressing install later then it will keep poppin up that update notification. Just click install and it will try to install but it will not and you will no longer receive that notification.

hmmm, think its the lg8 update. i see you have the lg8 baseband but the build says lg2. if i'm right and the notification becomes a burden, replace your build.prop with this one and i bet the update notification goes away. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/39180283/build.prop (right click, save link as). Its from blazer just modded to look like its updated.
I'm still stock. Should I do this update will it make it harder to root? What is the l g 8 update?

flash this, you will be stock LG8, but rooted and all that, then flash theme afterward.
I'm guessing that it's just the notification for the "official" LG8 update that came out 2 weeks ago. I'll bet you've only been on custom roms since it came out so the system thinks you haven't updated yet.
I'm on Build number IMM76D.L710VPALG2. I tried this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KeZx65twLk and downloaded the recovery file that it shows and the update file but when I try to install them I get an update aborted notification.
Do I need to update to a different version from LG2 before I can update to the latest LG9? Not sure where the problem is coming in
Also I still seem to have Superuser even after flashing the recovery file which is supposed to be stock with Odin. I'm not sure if that is what is causing the problem. Odin flashes the recovery file fine, not sure why its not taking.
The error that I'm getting is
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Update:
Looks like something is just weird with the instructions on that Youtube video, I can't get that to work. Ran the Odex version in the developers section, (Odin stuff, Update, Modem) and now I'm at the latest. If anyone else runs into problems with the Youtube version it might be best to just use the instructions on the developers section, you don't need to erase your data it seems when you flash the Odex versions.

1. Put this in the Q&A thread.
2. This update came out months ago.
It's is just show up on my phone
Got the notification too but phone is unsuccessful on trying to upgrade from 4.1.1.
FWIW, I have the TWRP 2.5.0.0 bootloader and an unlocked/rooted stock ROM and the phone downloads 200+ MB of data and then reboots into TWRP. I then ask it to reboot into the system when it says the upgrade failed and boots me into 4.1.1 again.
I also just got the notification today.
I had previously had the 4.1.1 rooted stock ROM (the one that didn't trip the Flash counter) and was wondering if there was one for this update too.

if you need to update either go with customs roms with the same version but debloated, fixed and works really great or download the samsung stock firmware with Odin and you will go back to real stock with everything bloated and No ROOT

Nexus 7 OTA

Hey, noob question, but I'm somewhat new to nexus devices and I love them. I have a lot of experience flashing with my GS4 but not nexus devices. Is there any way to accept an OTA update on my nexus 7 flo after flashing custom recovery? What about just root with stock recovery? Thanks for any help
You are in the wrong section...
OTA-Updates works well with TWRP... But if OTA Update fails I would prefere simply to flash the system.img +boot img from the factory Image...
If you are on 4.2.2 or older you can root with Motochopper.
For 4.3 or older you need a custom Recovery (wich will be overwritten on OTA Update) or an unlocked bootloader. Via an unlocked Bootloader you can simply boot CF-Auto-Root via fastboot boot, without flashing anything...

You can not get ota updates once you flash custom recovery but there is a way to have root and use recovery without ever flashing it.
If you boot into the bootloader and then download the TWRP latest image for the Flo, you can boot into the recovery straight from your computer's hard drive.
Code:
fastboot boot recovery path/to/recovery.img
Will boot into recovery from your computer instead of flashing it. Theoretically, if you do this every time, then you should be able to have whatever you want to flash on your device, but still accept ota updates.

Flo refers to the Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi-only version, while Deb refers to the LTE Nexus 7 2013.

Wiped OS!

Title pretty much says it all. I accidentally wiped the OS while trying to set my phone back to factory with data wiped off the internal. I thought 'system' was unchecked!
Does anyone have a link to either Stock 4.1.2 or 4.3 without KNOX? I tried this one, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541900, but it won't flash because the OS is missing.
Would I need to do this with Odin or can I just use the recovery to flash the ROM?
Thanks guys!

What do you mean it won't flash? Does it give an error message? What recovery are you on?

Error message recieved is
"file_getprop: failed to stat '/system/build.prop': No such file or directory"
There is a statement above about the zip file
"10pm BUILD, NEEDS A ROM PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED"
Running TWRP 2.7.0.0

Did you downloaded the ROM or a mod for it? Check that.

I know a LOT of people were having trouble with TWRP 2.7 not flashing correctly and not backing up correctly. Try the 2.6.3 version

Thanks, I got it finally. I needed to find a flashable 4.1.2 to use with TWRP. I think flashed the MK3 version from the link in my original post. Thankfully Titanium had just run a backup yesterday!
Thank you again for your help! :victory:

New T-Mobile Note 3 owner, TWRP Question

Hey guys. I just received my TMO Note 3 via swappa.com today. As previously stated the former had Will03 slimkat V20 on the device.
He originally told me he had TWRP on it, but upon arrival it has Philz recovery (not sure how he confused that)
I actually prefer Twrp and I was wondering if there is an easy way to get Twrp on the device instead. Thanks a million ?

Sure, it's easy to get TWRP for your device.
Here is the download link for the latest TWRP for N900T:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/45687485/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.2.0-hltetmo-4.4.zip
Just flash this in recovery mode.
Good luck!

NF1 is strictly optional, it's really not even an android os
upgrade, the firmware will still remain 4.4.2 just like you
have right now.
Unless you are having issues with the phone I would suggest
not to upgrade to NF1 or anything else until a newer than 4.4.2
android firmware becomes available.
Good luck!
