So I have the Trinity Rom installed, unlocked bootloader, trinity x kernel and a rooted Xperia S. I want to go back to the beginning, to start everything from scratch. Can someone tell me a step by step procedure to revert to the old system because the PC Companion won't repair it because of the custom firmware.
Thanks!
Download and install Emma(the sony developers tool). That can reflash your phone to stock firmware. Or flash an ftf though Flashtool.
Also, there is a sop on the xda website regarding relocking the bootloader if you want to do that.

I have flashed the stock kernel somehow and relocked the bootloader while still having the custom rom, I knew that my phone wouldn't go past the sony logo, because when I was installing the rom I chose bootloader unlocked so now I can't win either way. What should I do, still install emma?

OMFG, what were you trying to accomplish by those actions? Why relock bootloader? Only thing you had to do is to flash prefered FW via Flashtool.

Hi, first of all sorry for my english it isn't quite good. Well, i'll explain what happened to me. I was root but i didn't have the bootloader unlocked. I tried to install this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041646
I got in CMW and i wipe all and then i installed the NOVA zip. Everything appeared well and i completed the installation. I tried to reboot but the phone don't turns on. When i try to turn it on just vibrate a little but anything appear on the screen and if i try to turn it on with the volume down key, the led turns green for a while at the same time that the phone vibrates. I don't know what to do and i wish that someone could help me, I'm desperated.
Thank you for your time!
Use the Sony flashtool or the pc companion to restore to stock then never flash a Rom of your loader is locked and the Rom is for unlocked loaders

that problem occur because u still have bootloader locked. it need to be unlocked to flash Nova Rom.
now u need to install back stock rom and start again.
1. flash back stock rom using pc companion. (if cannot turn on your phone, try using sony flashtool, i prefer using it, more easy)
2. after stock rom installed, then unlock your bootloader, please refer to sony website on how to unlock bootloader.
3. root and install CWM.
4. flash Nova.zip using CWM.
5. Done

For Sony flashtool he needs unlocked bootloader. So only solution is to try repair with pc companion or to flash stock rom with flashtool by androxyde.

Hello! I'm having a problem with my xperia arc S, I tried to install a ROM (ULTIMATE HD 3.1) but I didn't have the wifi modules, so my phone got stuck on boot, so I figured that I got a bootloop, and went to flash the kernel (562), root again again and flash the new kernel (587) to try and install the ROM again, but the phone didn't root, but I flashed the .587 kernel and can't flash it back to .562. I can't figure what's the problem the flashtool says it's flashed but in setting the "compilation number" just says that it has the new kernel.
So my problem is how can I flash back to .562 and root the phone? I already tried this a few times ([url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118343[/url]), but it dosen't work. what else can I do? Try with another kernel?
I also tried this, but it didn't work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711. I don't know if it helps but i have the bootloader locked.
Sorry if repost, google but didn't find anything related. thanks anyway.
Restore your phone using Sony Update Service, since you have locked bootloader.

If you cannot repair with Update Service, try PC Companion. It should offer the repair function.

Had a similar problem, caused by wrong kernel (at least i think so). Anyho, there was no "repair" option for me either.
What you should do is:
- Flash back to stock GB firmware (0.62)
- Root (using eRoot, it's a one click procedure.)
- Install CWM using RecoveryX is the simplest way i'd say
- Flash the kernel which Jared proposed (can't remember which one sorry)
- boot into CWM, and follow the instructions to install UltimadeHD rom. I'd suggest Tesla's instructions, they are fail-proof. Remember to click on "unlocked bootloader" if your bootloader is locked.

If your bootloader is locked, you can repair it with Sony's PC Companion program for windows.
If your bootloader is unlocked, your only choice is to use flashtool to flash stock firmware

hey thanks for the reply, i read around a bit and downloaded flashtool, but when i run the flashtool it says 'preparing files for flashing' and then my phone just goes and reboots to get stuck on sony ericsson again, not giving time for flashtool to flash the phone.

You have to switch it off first before connecting, then connect while holding back when they ask you to in Flashtool.
Just to be safe, remove the battery and replace it after switching off.

Download the zip on the sdcad then install this kernel.
> Sony Ericsson Xperia Play > Xperia Play Android Development > [KERNEL][PLAY] LuPuSv7 [STOCK ICS/GB & CM9][LINARO 4.7.3][19-06-13]
It's working fine for me.

Well first you need a unlocked bootloader.
Then, you have to flash a ICS kernel for an ICS ROM (using fast boot)
LuPuS is a good kernel and is pretty stable too.
After that just install the ROM through CWM.

I don't know about that. But you can try it. In worst case, it won't do anything at all.
But i'm sure that Emma (son'ys flashtool for unlocked BL) will work. Here is a link
Hey Guys,
New of the forum here. For the past few days, I have been trying to install a custom rom on my Xperia S which I bought in Hong Kong about 2 years ago. I also had it updated to JB .96 version.
I read the forums as much as I could and firstly tried to root the phone. I couldn't determine if I had a locked or unlocked bootloader. I used this rooting guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417672
by doomlord
and then I moved on to installing a recovery which was also following doomlords guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308493&highlight=adb+server
After having done this, I wanted to install PureSlim KitKat on my Xperia S which I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606528&highlight=flash
But once I got into the recovery of CWM and selected to install the zip file, after installation it says that it will reboot device but it doesn't. I tried to manually start the phone but it couldn't start up. I can only get it to go into flashmode and thus I ended up flashing a ftf which I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422053
Afterwards, I am back to square one and I repeated the steps to reroot the device and then I installed recovery again and then tried another rom, this time I tried LeopardRom which also resulted in the same problem of not booting.
I also use Galaxy S2 and have custom rom on that but I didn't expect it to be that much different for xperia S. I am willing to follow steps to resolve the issue here.
-Jazi
you cant install that rom because is for unlocked bootloader and you have locked bootloader, you need unlock the bootloader and install a kitkat kernel. When you finish this you can install this rom
Not all of the bootloaders can be unlock. My bootloader can't be unlock so I use a rom that doesn't need unlocked bootloader. The rom is existenz v1.35

ta backup has nothing to do with relocking bootloader
it is used to save some features of sony
relocking has not been made yet
and why would u want to relock?

To use SUS, you must have a locked bootloader. For those who have an unlocked bootloader, just wait until someone uploads an FTF. FTFs can be flashed on unlocked bootloaders using Flashtool by Androxyde.

You can easily relock the bootloader in just two steps.
Flash only the kernel via flashtool and then relock the bootloader also via flashtool.
You can't go wrong if you've used flashtool before.

The process is quite simple but do it at your own risk..
Turn on your computer's internet..
Open flashtool and select flashmode..
Select the firmware, then exclude everything but kernel (Remember only kernel should be selected, exclude everything)..
Uncheck every option in wipe..
Flash the mobile, it should take just 4-5 seconds..
Don't restart yet, disconnect your mobile..
Open BLU option in flashtool..
Connect your mobile, a dialog box will open, just click on relock..
(Remember, don't turn off the internet connection untill the bootloader is locked)
Restart your phone, it'll still be rooted and you'll be able to get all official updates..
Only thing you'll lose is the cwm recovery..
