Hey guys. So I was thinking my battery problem could just be a bad battery... Got some new ankers, charged them with the external battery charger. Battery lasted the time it used to: (4+ hrs screen on). I kept the battery in my phone, charged it via USB wall charger (stock) showed full battery, but died much faster. Any chance the original wall charger is being stopped before it's fully charged but sayin it is?

Battery stats wiping is not a thing. It's a myth. This happens every time you unplug the phone when its' above a 90% charge. Most battery stat wiping apps don't even do anything. They just say they did something. Even if you did wipe battery stats, it doesn't matter. It's not a thing.
The charger doesn't have voltage cutoff. So the charger isn't purposely stopping the charge. The phone itself does though. What ROM are you using? Have you tried with a different ROM?
Thanks yeah that's what I've been told but other people say to. I just wanted to say it so it wasn't advised I do a battery stats wipe ha. And yeah I've tried a few roms same situation I'll give it a few more runs through the batteries to see but it definitely burns through the battery in about half the time after full charge via USB rather than external charger

I bought this: http://goo.gl/70Els
I'm wondering if it will solve the bump charge issue and will charge the battery fully without having to go through hoops to just charge a battery!!!
I'm tired of being at 90% after ten minutes after a full night charge!
Thanks

Very doubtful. Your best best is the kernel being developed in the dev section with increased charging.
My question has nothing to do with the phone itself because the battery is not in the phone when its charging, it's sitting in the cradle. Nothing to do with the phone itself. Do you think the cradle will charge the battery fully and completely.
Thanks

Yea it bumps it I have one as well. But its bad for the battery.

I've got the charger mentioned as well. I just see it charge the battery "normally" to 100%, and if needed over the next ~xx(x) hours or so, another trickle at low mA will be applied. That isn't the same as this "bump charge" that is always referred to here.
If you turn the phone off and charge, it'll charge just like the charger (Seido) to 100%.
There's lot of good info about LI batteries like this writeup: http://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
Anyway: I thought the main gripe about the DINC charging technique is not anything about the technique, but that it always runs the phone off the battery, rather than using the USB current when it's plugged in. Most phones use the USB (or whatever tech) to a) charge the battery and b) run the phone. Of course if this is HTC's method, then you'll very rarely unplug at 100%.
The rate of battery consumption, regardless of % starting point is more of an issue for me. Using all the SENSE/HTC/VERIZON stuff is a losing proposition more than not having 1-9% of the full capacity at 'go' time. As soon as I rooted, I dumped every app and service starting with HTC*, VER*, *sense* and battery life improved by a great deal. Yeah, I don't care about social networking (well, aside from a forum or two ) -- But I enjoy most of the other phone functionality.
The charger's fine, it's the battery that troubles me
I have the charger, too. Works fine. Does not require "bump."
But the battery (the 1750) that came with it has failed to impress me much, with a tendency to overheat. Frankly, since I rooted and started using SetCPU to underclock with screen off, I've been using the stock battery.
welcome all who see this. alright, my phone is rooted, and i went to upgrade to gingerbread and i used the mikg rom 2.5:1-2. unfortunately i erased the battery stats not paying attention and talking. from then....the phone battery never charges.....even when plugged in it constantly sinks to nothing. even when i charged it turned off for 6 hours, it never gets past 15% HELP! i have tried to rewipe the battery stats, but i only get past draining the battery, because now it wont fully charge. i even bought an extended battery which also drains, but never charges! i am not sure what to do to get battery stats up to par, or to cause this phone to charge any battery! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! (much appreciated)
im a noob here so i really dont know what im talking about but i had almost the same problem when i bought my extended battery from sprint. first day of use was really good and when i went to charge the next time as soon as i unplugged the charger after a full charge the % would drop soo much...i was getting like 10 hrs which isnt much with an extended battery. i updated to mikg 2.53 and wiped the cache and all the usual and the battery stats and its seem to workin now 1d 4h 54m on battery....hopefully this helps
Use an external wall charger or a different phone to fully charge the battery. Then insert the battery and immediately wipe battery stats.
Should fix the problem.
Using an sbc kernel will allow you to fully charge the battery as well. Use something like Battery Monitor Widget to keep an eye on your charge - 4200mv is fully charged.

It almost sounds like a problem with the phone. I wipe battery stats everytime I flash a new Rom and I've never had problems. You might want to see if the battery will charge on someone else's phone first.

So my s2 has been charging really slow, like today it took like 5 hours to fully charge, and when connected to charger if I'm using it it wont charge very well, like the battery will stay at lets say 20% when im using it and charging it, it might even go down more. it used to charge pretty well even if I was on it. Cuz this be the charger, or is my battery messed up?? Im using the charger that came with the phone.

Are you charging through a usb port on your computer or ac? If it is with usb port then yes it will charge at a much slower rate. Also if you have a lot of apps running or backround data going it will also cause your charging to slow down some. I would say through usb without any apps open and backround data stopped It would take a few hours to charge say from 20%. Through AC in the same condition probly 1.5 hours. Try to reboot your phone and then plug it in to charge to see if that doesnt speed it up any. If it does then you know you have backround data moving at a fast rate and that would be your reason to slow the charge down.
Yeah I'm charging with the wall charger, not thru usb

thats pretty weird...have you tried using another usb cable?? maybe the cable is faulty?
Calibrating the battery

You could try calibrating the battery, maybe. To do that, turn the phone off. Charge to full (make sure it's full, by taking it off of the charger and putting it back on...the indicator should read 100% almost immediately when reattached to power).
When the battery is full, with the phone still turned off, remove the battery for about 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, reinsert battery and restart phone.
Battery will be calibrated. This may not resolve the problem of a slow charge, but will clear 'battery memory' which may have been preventing it from charging completely (and, I suspect, may have inhibited charging).
Good luck!
I was using an aftermarket wall charger and had similar results. Switched to the USB/AC converter that came with the phone and all was well.

Actually, one doesn't need an app to calibrate the battery. If you follow the instructions above, the app is unnecessary. And the phone mustn't be rooted
YODA? ^^^^
Hey elflip88, have you found the issue yet?
I have the same problem on my HTC Amaze 4G. It's charging 1% every 3 minutes (adds up to 5 hours)
I'm also using the wall charger...oh damn, I'm starting to think I have a faulty device / battery...
yelp!
For the record Samsung devices are known to be slow at charging so with that considered.... You still shouldn't be at 5 hrs. I would find a battery stats app charge your battery over night and check the chart to see exactly how long it takes to go from 0 - 100. Make sure your batter status is good. Also check the voltage coming into your phone from your charger. There are plenty of battery stat apps in the market that will do this sort of thing. Of course make sure your battery doesn't have water damage of course too lol.

I've had the same problem with mine. But, I can get 1.5 days without charging and moderate usage. Charge it up, drain it, charge it back up then wipe your battery stats in recovery.
This may help if you're using an aftermarket wall charger
If you guys are having issues with slow charging using an aftermarket wall charger, it could be that the phone is charging in a USB state rather than an AC charging state. QuickCharge could alleviate your issues. The cable is inserted between the wall charger and the USB cable that goes to your phone. You can find the product on Amazon. It's the 2nd of 3rd item from the top when you search 'QuickCharge'.
I find that when I fully drain my battery and charge it, it's really slow. Once the phone has enough battery to stay on, I unplugged it and replugged it and it charges normal again.

It's your wifi and your apps using wifi. Turn wifi off while charging. I used to charge 4 hours + on my S2. Reduced to 2 and some change when I turn off wifi.
Also, I struggle to make it through a working day with wifi on. Turn wifi off and I can do 4 days no problem.

Hey guys,
I read all the solutions but none of them works (somebody just says to reboot the phone, somebody says that it needs a charging cyrcles etc).
I have myd esire that stops charging at 99%.
If I unplug the AC (after like 12 hours), and then I replug it again, it finishes charging at 100%.
is there something I can do?
Had you done the wipe battery states already or you hadn't done it?

Time for some myth debunking I see.
Hey !
Actually, the charging process of most devices is to fully charge the battery up to 100%, and then to let it be discharged as if it were disconnected down to 90%, then charge it again back to 100%, and then let it discharge to 90% and so on...
This system allows to preseve the battery's lifetime because li-ion cells (and cells in general) don't like to be charging even at 100%
there is DEFINITELY something wrong with my phone: I had the battery at 28% (I read the percentage with battery calibrator), and now, after 1 hour, is at 35% :O
Charging a battery is obviously a chemical reaction - if you unplug it, the reaction stops, plug it in and it restarts.
Meaning:
If your phone stops charging at 99 % the chip on the battery reports its fully charged. If you un- and replug it the process starts again and the battery needs some time to send a fully charged report. If you check your battery the its somewhere between 98 and 103 % of the rated capacitance your battery is fine.

Delete your battery stats, charge it an entire night. Do you use the genuine charger? If the battery is still not fully charged then its most likely the battery. If it charges to 100% - but very slowly - its your phone or the charger.

the battery is genuine and new!and by new I mean that I bought it two days ago...
I don't use the geuine charger, I have the USB on the wall, why?
Try charging from a PC usb port instead of a wall charger. I only have anecdotal evidence, but I find that the battery lasts better when charged slowly from my PC than when charged while plugged into the wall (true for my Sony X8, also appears to be true for my Desire which I've had for less time). It takes probably 5 times longer to charge on a PC vs. the wall plug which I assume has something to do with it.
If you're on rooted sense rom, there are kernels which support USB fastcharge.

Sorry I'm a noob. Wut is dat ?
Does charging my phone directly with the usb port charge the battery better than when a battery is charged on a wall charger? I've been having bad battery problems with all. 5 of my batteries (including a 3500 mah one) and I'm starting to think that when I charge my phone whatever battery is in it last longer than if it was charged on the wall charger. Can anyone confirm that this may be true?

I recall reading somewhere that charging through USB has a chance of overcharging the battery because the wall charger has an auto cutoff when the battery reaches 100% and the USB does not. This may have something to do with possible better battery life when charging through USB. Have you tried draining the phone all the way down to 1% or until it shuts off then charging it to 100% a couple times?

I pretty much do that because I keep the battery in until my phone dies then just switch batteries. Whatever battery ends up in my phone by the end of the day gets charged by usb in my phone and any other batteries that died during the day get charged on the wall charger. But what your saying may be true because on the wall charger usually I find the batteries only 96~98% never actually 100%. Ill test it out and see what happens. Anyone know of a wall charger that works really well?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
It would be nice if I could find the articles I read on the matter for some weight, rather than just my comment. But anyways....
The battery is never at 100%; that is for safety reasons. Whether USB or wall charged, it won't hit 100.
