[Q] M vs M dual - Sony Xperia M

Hi guys!
I am faced with a dilemma, deciding between M & M dual. Though I want to have the advantage of Dual sims, I am also a sucker for battery life, so much that I would even give up extra sim for considerable battery life. So my question is this? How's low is the batter life in M Dual compared to M. Any input is appreciated.

Well I don't see much difference in Battery Life compared to M Single Sim.
Moreover when you do not have a use of anyone sim then jus disable that from Settings>Dual
SIM Settings
That will give some extra battery life.
With my both sim on, moderate gaming and 3-4 hours of xda n surfing it lasts just near to a day.
And in C2004 both sim stay active when you use data and/or sms.
But on call the other one goes unavailable.
Yet yoh can use call divert option in Dual SIM Settings.

Apart from these facts the dual sim version offers 1.2 ghz processor while single sim has 1 which means better speeds better performance and lesser lags for the dual.

Don't be kidding, the Xperia M and Xperia M Dual has the exact same spec other than the additional standby SIM.
Both of them have a dual-core 1GHz MSM8227.

You will get 4.2 with dual sim if you dnt want to flash m with m dual firmware.

go with single sim.
swapping memory card with internal memory is easier in SS.
i ordered single sim but flipcart sent DS. offcourse the price was same but really annoying now that i find it difficult to swap memories..

[Q] would you recommend me buy an xperia arc s? why?

Hi, I'm an user of an old xperia x8 and I'm thinking in upgrade to an Arc S but I need to know a few things before, like battery life and smoothness of UI in GB and ICS (I'm not planing to install custom kernel/rom).
I've watched some reviews on youtube but the only thing I see there is people scrolling through settings, app drawer, etc... I need to know how it behave in daily use based on your experiences... I hope you can help me
thanks
best regards
What is your budget first of all?
yes i recommend it for you
talking about the battery life,,,, when i bought it i had to recharge it everyday! but as time goes on the battery performance gets better. and when you update it to ICS the battery life is improved and lasts for 4 days (normal use)

could you please define what does normal use mean for you if the same as for me (gmail sync on, some emails.. 15-25 as i use them instead of sms mainly, little bit of gaming like 30 minutes per day, maybe 15 minutes of talking and a couple of sms messages) then your results are astonishing... with such usage my phone struggles to stay unpluged for 20hrs.
anyway, as it was asked, on what rom and settings?!?!
thanks for your answers! well, my budget is enough to buy an xperia arc s, i really like the design (i could buy a Galaxy S but just do not like it). I need the battery to last at least 1 day (15~24 hours is acceptable) with 3g data on, email push notifications, whatsapp and little web browsing, I do not play games on my phone or listen to music. Anyone here using arc s with that kind of use?
thanks!
edit: oh well, a few calls also lol

i am sure it can handle that much of load for a day..samsung sucks..yesterday had a fight on S2 forum on the same topic..got a warning from Forum Mod too
It would be wise for now to go for Xperia P or U considering the same price as Arc S..
If you desire much for Arc S,then simply go for it!
+1 for Samsung sucks!
+1 for the same. Lol.

This is a wonderful cell phone but if you going to buy a new cell phone im recommend to you buy Xperia S, this is a dual core and more app better than arc s
Tbh, the Xperia s is good, but not a huge leap from the arc. Dual core is used to imply better performance, but it's the context that matters. If microsecond improvements in response really matter then go for an Xperia s, but don't look for a huge difference in performance overall then unless you're a huge gaming freak with no PSP the difference will be negligible.

[Q] [QUESTION] Interchanging of batteries

Hello guys, I am currently using Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos and I find the battery back up quite too low since I use my device extensively. So I'm planning to switch with my brother's Samsung Galaxy S3's battery and my Grand's battery to his s3. Is it totally safe for both devices if we interchange batteries?

don't know if s4 battery works with grand or not
but try to stick with its own rather interchanging
it will not give big boost to your battery backup, cause grand is dual sim
also you may damage your cell not in single day but slowly as there may be diff in s4 & grands voltage :good:

either way that does not make sense replacing battery
cause both battery's are Li-Ion 2100 mAh
on G3 give 1 hour or more standby time cause its single sim
my point is still valid + S3 i guess uses higher volt to power quad core & higher graphic cheap
its like killing both battery's
anyway thanks for correction bro , next will never reply when busy

I think we should wait for some non-samsung battery with a charge of 3000mAh or 4000mAh.

[Q] to upgrade or to root

Hi, I am having a dilemma as titled. I am getting increasingly frustrated by the low RAM and poor battery life (with hot phone) of my Xperia S (on B.1.96 latest firmware). I use Whatsapp a lot and it couldn't keep itself in memory if I launch/run Chrome at the same time. The push notification is still there but it will load again to get into the conversation page. Does custom ROM provide much better memory handling to allow better management? My Nexus 7 feels just fine even both devices run on 1GB RAM (of course Nexus 7 has more cores, but I think it doesn't affect memory management.)
Living in Malaysia, where temperature is generally higher also doesn't help the phone, which gets hot very easily. It gets hot easily and drains battery - I could get something as ridiculous as getting 5 minutes on screen time but already went through 40% of the juice after half a day. I don't believe there is anything to do with stupid background apps as I screen my apps pretty vigorously on their efficiency and most of them are inherited from my older HTC Desire - which has no background apps problem for me. I believe it's definitely a firmware issue but I am not sure how much can custom ROM fix in that department?
Should I upgrade? My current shortlist will be either an Xperia Z1 or a HTC One. I still admire HTC phones a lot and the One certainly does very well to impress me. My main concern is on its aluminium as I'll definitely opt for the black option, it may reveal scratch and scuff very easily. Z1 looks to be an impressive phone but I am slightly worried with its increased size and weight. I always try to handle phones in one hand to see if I could drag down the notification bar without reshuffling my fingers and the HTC One is as probably the largest I could take. But the extra battery, on-screen button (a plus for me) and water-resistant ability keeps me pretty interested (especially Sony Malaysia is bundling the dock together).
Will rooting and custom ROM solve my frustration? Or I am better off upgrading to a proper flagship?
you haven't said what phone and on what firmware?

Oops, my bad. It's Xperia S and on latest B.1.96 firmware.
I live in Malaysia too,and to be honest - The kadar kepanasan (hot rate) is damn high recently...and if a phone is hotter, the performance will be sluggish

That is one of the options but how much improvement it warrants? It baffles me that the Nexus 4 has twice the mileage my Xperia S could get - sure there's hardware and firmware difference and 300mAh difference, but it still does not make much sense to me. The Xperia S has not had good battery life and I must keep it charged whenever I have the chance.
AOSP 4.3 is amazingly smooth and fast!

Battery improvement -

I just started using Dual SIM on my mobile and it seems battery consumption has doubled. I am on stock latest version.
Can people share their ways of saving battery apart from removing Samsung bloatware, rooting the phone !!

Xperia T2 Ultra battery life?

Guys I wanana ask how much do you get in Screen on time with the most common usage? If.you have a Z2 or Z3. Does it work.in a similar way? In GSMarena both Z2, Z3 and Z2 and Z3 got almost the same or near Web Browse and Video Playback of the T2 Ultra. I really like.the Z2. I want one waha. So Iwas wondering.how.is your SOT witb T2 Ultra?
Not the T2U but the phone builds are very similar so maybe this could be a reference for you too.

Umm...
The Z2 blew the scores away from T2U, I'm not sure how do you get identical scores for the phone. And with the upgrade to 6.0, the Z2 will get a boost from the Doze feature. You should try asking the members in the Z2 forum in XDA here, they'll be more than willing to show off their stats.

Well I got around 4-5 hours, depends on what am I doing with the phone. Usually if I use it normally it could reach up to 5 hours SOT, kinda missed 6 hr on 4.4.3 tho...
In normal usage (some calls, SMS, games, mostly facebook using the xda version), my SOT is around 8-9 hours. It even came to 11 hours when I first bought it. I'm on stock 4.3. I noticed upon updating my friend's t2u to kitkat and lollipop, the SOT is now limited to around 5-6 hours. So I'm sticking with stock rom 4.3.
