[Q] No Signal after Stock Flash From Odin - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok. I was on JediX20 not to long ago. I was having problems with my signal. It had completely no signal. I put the phone into download mode and reflashed the stock firmware through odin. It works like a charm except....when I boot the phone up with no sim card...it shows signal strength...but when i put my sim card in and turn it on...it gives me a no signal icon + no mobile network when i try to dial out. I thought it was my sim card and it had gave out so i talked to my phone rep and i switched to a brand new sim card. Same thing happen. The only reason I know its a software and not a hardware issue is because when i go to settings, back up and reset, and i go through everything to reset it. The icons for data and signal appear just before it cuts off. Im at a loss of what to do. Any Advice?? or a Thread someone could point me too?

IMEI or Baseband available?

Did you flash the correct firmware ?? (have to ask )..
And once your Odin flash was complete ...did you boot into recovery and wipe all data and caches ??
It sure sounds like you're running into an incorrect APN on boot...
As mentioned above ...does your phone show the correct information ??

I didnt wipe data and cache as soon as I flashed through odin. I did after the phone booted up. Maybe ill try that. Thanks.

No Mobile Data - Help please!

Hi All,
I got my Note 2 today, and have run into a problem already
Mobile data (HSPA+) was working when I first got the phone and used it between the shop and the way home.
When I got home, I switched over to wifi to download things.
I then flashed CWM from the cwm-root-note2.tar.md5 file in Dr Ketan's guide using PC Odin.
Then, I flashed Omega v3 via CWM.
All went without a problem.
I was still on wifi and downloading and installing all of my apps.
After a while I turned off wifi and I noticed that I wasn't getting any mobile data connection. I was getting 3 or 4 bars of mobile signal, but no 3G, H or H+ symbol to indicate mobile data.
I messaged a nearby friend on the same carrier and he said his was working fine. So, I figured I must have messed up the mobile network settings,
I checked the APN settings and they were blank, so I put them back in manually.
Still no data connection,
I went into CWM and wiped cache, dalvik and user data.
Still no good.
I downloaded the stock XXALJ1 ROM for Thailand (where I am) and flashed that, did another 3 wipes, but still no luck.
I tried doing a factory reset from the settings menu. But still no joy.
I put the SIM card into my Note 1 and it got a H+ straight away and data was working fine.(when the shop cut it down, they made a nice neat job of it, so the excess makes a decent micro sim holder). So, the network and SIM card are OK.
I noticed that when I first got the phone, the boot screen said "N7100" under "Galaxy Note II".
Now, it doesn't. I'm not sure when it changed.
I also noticed that when I do the under/factory resets, there are still some settings that aren't reset, For example, I set it to WCDMA only to see if that helped and then when I did a factory reset, it was still set like that, rather than the default "auto" that it originally comes with.
Unfortunately I didn't do a nandroid backup, as my phone came with XXALIH (without the multiscreen), so I figured I'd updated to LJ1 first.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do?
Is there a full wipe ROM, or a way to reflash the bootloader and ROM?
It's 3am now, so I need to go to sleep, but this is annoying the hell out of me.
Thanks,
Rich

True Move H in Thailand.
I don't think it's a carrier issue, as I can put the SIM into my Note 1 and get H or H+ data connection straight away.
Also, I compared the APN settings and I have the exact same settings in the Note 2 and Note 1.
Mobile data was working on the Note 2 when I first got it.
Thanks,
Rich
Turn mobile data on in settings/data usage.
I doubt that his data is turned off in the settings is the problem since he already stated that he tried resetting to factory settings.
I'd suggest simply using odin to reflash J1 onto the phone and start from scratch again. This is why the devs always remind people to do a nandroid backup. In case of situations like this.

Thanks. Yes, Mobile data is ticked. I tried toggling that early on in case it just wasn't connecting properly or something.
I've tried flashing the stock J1 a few ties, but no joy.
It doesn't seem to do a full install, as the circle battery mod I installed previously is still there after flashing stock J1...
I'm downloading a stock XXALIE for Thailand at the moment and will try that.
It's still got 30 mins to go, and I have to leave for work soon! So, I might have to spend the day relying on wifi when I can get it
I'm wondering if the change in boot loader has anything to do with it. (Originally had "N7100" on the boot screen and now I don't, just "Galaxy Note II")
maybe APN settings are wrong? I'm from sri lanka, and I had to add an apn for mobile data to work.
OK, I finally fixed it. Here is what I did (in case anyone else has a similar problem)
Flashed stock LJ1 via odin
Downloaded Galaxy S/S2/S3 CSC
Reset my CSC to THL
Now when it restarted it picked up mobile data signal without me doing anything to the mobile network settings.
I reflashed Omega 3 and lost mobile data again. I tried the Galaxy CSC app, but it says there is only 1 CSC.
So, I went back to stock Thai LJ1.
This time I got an OTA update straight away. After that installed I noticed the boot screen had changed back to showing GT-N7100 again.
ROM is now XXALJ3 and the modem is DXALJ1
Flashed CWM and reinstalled most of my apps from Titanium Backup.
Everything is still OK.
So, it looks like I can't use Omega ROM because it changes the CSC and I can't change it back to THL.
Is there any way to install the CSC separately after flashing Omega?

Getting no service after boot. Please help!

I was running ICS 4.0.4 stock rom on my Koodo SGH-T989D. I used Darkside super wipe and then flashed Ginerbread 2.3.5 using Odin. To my knowledge, Koodo never ran gingerbread on this model so I had to use the Telus version. But since they are both T989Ds I didn't think there would be an issue.
My issue now is after I turn on my phone, it takes about 3 minutes before it finds my network. Normally it's within seconds that it finds my Koodo network. I'm just wondering what the issue might be. Is it kernel related? I've tried flashing different radios, but that didn't work. I've done a factory reset, and flashed again using Odin. My data wasn't working as well, but I fixed that by manually entering in Koodo's data settings.
So any ideas what I can do? Or did I make a mistake trying to flash a Telus rom on a Koodo phone in the first place? Obviously I'm just learning my way around here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is probably a stupid question, but how would I know whether it's reading my SIM?
I know after a few minutes it finally finds the Koodo signal and I have service.

It should show a sim card icon in status bar if its not reading or say no sim card on lockscreen. Otherwise it's working. 1.Try taking it out of phone and putting it back reboot see if its works after reboot. 2. If that doesn't work try another sim if you have it sometimes the cards get messed up flashing but rarely.
3. Dial *2767*3855# in the dialer for full factory format/reset. See if any of this helps you out.

It's very weird. It does recognize my SIM because when I take it out, a pop up comes up saying no sim and to reboot. I spent last night trying to get rid of the problem by flashing different roms, and seeing if there was any different. I flashed a CM10, my stock ICS 4.0.4, and the gingerbread rom. Some I flashed through ODIN, other through TWRP. After a bunch of different tries in no order, it finally got back to have service available immediately. But I went to do just a normal factory reset after I flashed the rom, and it lost service at the beginning of my boot again.
Any idea why a factory reset would affect that?
also, any idea why even after a few minutes when my service comes on, my data is still not available. I need to go to setting and enter in sp.koodo in the settings. Any ideas?

[Q] Insert Sim to Access Network Service.. IMEI Null

Hey Guys,
I have an AT&T Model SGH-1317 Note 2. For use on other networks, I unlocked the phone using the *#197328640# menu option. However, the phone failed to start the hot spot stating Mobile data was unavailable or Invalid Sim. However, I am able to tether perfectly using the same sim on an another S3 so I was sure its nothing to do with the sim or network operator settings.
I looked up and found XDA website with tons of information. I assumed my phone was locked by AT&T. Hence, I rooted the phone using CF-Auto-Root, backed up complete data using Titanium and using Rom Manager I installed the Crash Aroma 4.1.2 Rom. I wiped the data and cache 3 times as suggested. However, after the boot I am unable to connect to any mobile network. A Click on Mobile Network says "Insert Sim Card to Access Network Services". Dialling for IMEI number prompt a Null.
During Installation I noticed the Crash ROM has overwritten the Radio.. and I am assuming this is were the problem lies. but I leave it you experts.. Request Help!
Sunil.

Am currently on Du - A network in Dubai, UAE. I have been reading more forum information and some suggest that this may be related to the EFS folder getting corrupted which may cause the IMEI number to fail. Some suggest that there are software to rebuild this information by using the IMEI number behind the handset..
I also noted that my phone model has also changed to GT-7100 instead of SGH-1317, Wonder if the Crash ROM was apt?
Would you suggest installing a Jedi Rom specifically built for SGH-1317... or is the damage already done?
Back Online
Since I found no replies.. I had no choice but to give it to the Pros.. I handed my phone day to one of the Unlocking experts at a mobile store… He was confident that his technicians would resolve this. But after 2 Days, they have given up.. He suggested the phone would fetch me US$ 10 if someone used it as a demo unit at a mobile shop..
I was sure this was something to do with the Modem, IMEI and the all important NV folder. I was able to find a Stock ROM for the SGH-1317 and I also found a link at XDA about using EFS pro to change the IMEI.
Using Odin software, I flashed the phone with the stock rom. Unfortunately, there was one error when it tried to communicated on com1. Having no choice, I continued. Restarting got the AT&T style boot but it again froze on the Samsung screen. Dreading the communication error, I restarted several times with no results. Finally I realised if would be due to the cache and user data. I reset the phone to factor settings wiping out the user data and Whola.. The phone sprang back up..
Lessons learnt.. Backup your rom and data before playing with custom roms. Read Read Read and don’t flash in the middle of the night..
Since I am back online, I plan to stick to the stock and crappy 4.1.1 with all the AT&T dead weight. Will live without the ability to Tether until my fingers get warmer.. It won’t be long as I am already bit by the Custom Rom Devil..
Don't Give Up Easy..:good::victory:

Please I am having the very exact same issue and can't seem to have it fixed
Using CMW I also flashed it back to stock rom, didnt have any problem or errors doing it but im still getting No SIM Inserted. I have deleted cache and user data several times... Tried flashing CM10 and CrashRom see if they made a difference and still No Sim Inserted... tried 3 different kernels and still same issue
I have the exact same problem since yesterday. I've tried everything and anything to no avail. I'm very close to returning the phone.
I would really appreciate any input.
Same issue
I flashed crash rom 4.5, over the stock kernel and it gave me that same message. I've tried everything I could think of, which included everything in this thread to no avail... any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your username suggests that you have the N7100 device ??
If so. ..you are in the wrong place for support. ..As this is the SGH-I317 section.
If you are showing IMEI NULL with no baseband you may have to restore your backup image to correct the problem. .
If no backup image exists. ..you will need to flash a factory N7100 image from your section.
Look for the return to stock thread for your specific device and that should fix you up...
The CF AUTO ROOT files are device specific. ..so I hope you haven't damaged the partitions.
Good luck. ..g
Edit:
This will help. ..and will place you in the right section. ..

Okay, I need some serious help with my phone.

After running on a stock ROM(but rooted /w TWRP), I decided that I wanted to install a custom ROM so that I could tether if needed. Well, big mistake. I wiped stock and accidentally wiped my stock backup when going to flash a custom ROM and so far I've tried XenonHD, Jedi X19, IllusionROM, and now I'm on a Stock-Tweaked. So far, every single ROM has caused massive delays in receiving SMS messages and syncs from stuff like gmail.
Data is definitely working, and i've tried both the epc.tmobile.com and fast.tmobile.com APNs but my phone keeps hanging when it trys to send some texts and, if I have texts "waiting" to be delivered to my phone, I only receive them once I turn on my phone screen or only if the screen is on. So what the hell is going on here?
Don't mess around with roms and flash the stock-root injected one via Odin.
Download goo to install latest twrp and then download stock ROM for your device, wipe first 4 options not internal or external and not otg USB at least 3 full wipes then flash stock ROM and wait and you should b good
I installed the stock rom via Odin and still having this issue. =/
It seems that if I go to 4G/3G/2G mode only the issue doesn't persist. Or at least not as much. But then I can't use LTE! =/
Call tmobile tell him you did a factory reset on your phone and that you're having this problem and they will reset the network on their side. This happened to me before in the past and a quick call to them fix my problem. Hope this helps

[Q] No Service. Data working but no Call/Text.

Hello!
I have m919 T-Mobile Galaxy s4 but I'm with other carrier (Wind Canada). I rooted the phone about a month ago, I believe, using THIS guide.
I spent yesterday in environment where I didn't had coverage for most of the day, but i haven't gotten it back yet. Sounds really weird as it might be not connected to the fact at all. I have 4G connection active, which means that I have internet, but it keeps 'searching' for service and I can't Call/Text anyone, neither I can receive calls or texts. Instead of the bar at the top showing how good coverage i have it just shows a crossed out circle icon.
I've tried reboots, keeping my phone off for 30mins without battery, taking out sim and putting it back in, changing network modes and resetting APN (all from settings panel).
Have anyone experienced something like that and how do I fix it? It was working perfectly for last couple of months and the phone didn't get any damage yesterday neither.
P.S Did the the regular factory reset (don't know if it affects rooting) but it didn't change anything. =
I have same problem.
Did you solve it? and how?

Never had this happen to me. Data works off your signal, something is wickedly wrong. I'd flash the modem again if you are on 4.2.2 bootloader (doesn't matter which rom or android version). If that fails, go intonrecovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, and wipe data. If that fails, backup your data and Odin flash back to 100% stock. If that fails, more than likely your /efs folder was corrupted.

Ok, so I got heimdall, and got the recovery.img from the other topic. I followed the steps that was provided in the second link, but nothing much changed, it successfully uploaded the recovery.img, then i did recovery boot with power button + home button + volume up, it did some things with a pirate android guy in the back and thats it, booted up. Not sure if I have everything back to stock or not - either way, the issue with the network hasn't been resolved!

Tried this?
go to settings/more networks/Mobile networks/Network operators/Search now......
It might take a minute or two, then show you some networks it finds. Select your provider and it should list some options for you.
need to see Mobile data with a check, Data roaming checked, network mode should be LTE/GSM/WCDMA(auto connect)
If you KNOW what your APN (access Point Name) is you can check if it's correctly there.
It usually is downloaded with the search for network so just try with whatever is ther for now.
Back all the way out, and power off. Take out the battery, wait like 30 seconds, replace the battery and power on again.
See if you get service and can dial out.
Aloha and Good Luck!

Ok, now you might want to call your provider and ask them to remove you from their network and reinsert you again. That procedure will often re-enable normal operation of cellular connectivity.
They will ask you to power down and remove your battery for about a minute, then power up again.
Aloha and Good Luck!
Tried it all
Well im in the same boat here.
I checked the IMEI is correct
i did a full stock MK5 install with Odin without sim inserted and with
*#2263# helps it recognizes the network on the search list (WIND)
but it wont connect (failed to connect try again)
sometimes it connects to 4G and i can use the web
but no calls or sms
i noticed i dont have LTE enabled which ill do tomorrow
i even opened my phone to check that no cables came off as it was in service for a broken screen
tried a different sim from koodo wich also acts weird it connects to data but wont make phone calls or sms
the problems began after its been UNLOCKED (sim free)
any suggestions? im willing to try anything
its been in service 4 times and still they cant figure it out...
thanks!
