[s-off[ rumrunner s-off - HTC One V

is released for HTC one V. Should be compatible with both primoc and primou versions. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO USE THE VERSION AT/NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE DOWNLOADS PAGE THAT IS SPECIFIC TO THE ONE V. THE UNIVERSAL VERSION WILL NOT WORK.
Note, it is highly recommended (mandatory?) to be on a normal sense-based ICS rom and using an unsecure (preferably stock based) kernel. If you get poor results with other configurations, don't bother asking for help please!
Enjoy.
support is at #rumrunners on freenode.

Thank you bro. Been a long time coming for the one v.

Thank's a lot !
Right now i relocked my bootloader, and i'm running a RUU. I'll attempt the S-OFF asap
i'll edit this post and update my progress, and with some luck, a SS of the bootloader telling "S-OFF"
wish me luck^^
Edit:
progress so far:
1. relocked bootloader >flashed RUU>unlocked bootloader>flashed latest TWRP> flashed super SU+ updated> launched super su to make sure the binarys are getting updated too, not just the app>reflash TK kernel>victory

Just posted update to that f'd up linux build. If you downloaded linux version before time of this post, please redownload.

S-Off on PrimoU, using Linux Mint 64 bit
BTW. The rom on this phone at the moment is myonev 3.5 with tk kernel
Funny how the PrimoU users have jumped on this first. lol
And, thank you for all the hours of beating on this phone

So, with a S-OFF device, we can install a ROM without using our PC to flash a kernel to it. This was a thing I loved so much with my old LG Optimus One (I see that device is still actually being developed actively). To test if this works, I just swapped over from MyOneV 3.5 (a 4.0.4 ROM requiring TK kernel) to Fabian's Mod, which is a continuation of CM 10 (a 4.1.2 ROM, requiring Hellboy CM 10 Kernel).
I have successfully booted into the ROM. No kernel push was required. Sweet!

does it flash a kernel in rom.zip automatically?

yes but often the kernel isn't upto date in the ROM zip because we've never been able to take advantage of S-OFF. As of the moment all my ROMs have S-OFF support except for MiDroid. NexusPrimo also has the wrong kernel included although it still boots with that kernel. All my other ROMs have updated kernels in them.

can anyone enlighten me to what is s-off?

Does having S-Off Device add any functionality ?
EDIT: Just for Confirmation..so that I don't Face any Problem... Do I need to Go back to stock rom and unroot the device in order to do S-OFF ?? And will Developing Custom ROMS on S-OFF device become easy ??

Dafq s-off!!!! Yepeeee!!!! And i think we can change/update our hboot to make it compatible for 4.4???

Hboot doesn't matter for Android version.

Yeah not the android version but will help in that direction...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48021682

I used a VMware-workstation-full-10.0.1 with Ubuntu 12.10 X64, s-off My primou.

Is it compatible with W7? Cause as I see, everybody reporting successes are using linux-based systems :/

@red de0392
OP said that it's recomended to use a SENSE based ROM, as close to stock as possible.
I ran a RUU and actually went 100% stock just because i'm a tryhard. People already reported succesful S-OFF using MySense by ckpv5

[Official Unlocking Bootloader] HBOOT HTC Desire

HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC Desire:
http://www.htcdev.com/ruu/PB9920000_Bravo_Froyo_hboot_1.03.0003_R.exe
http://www.htcdev.com/ruu/PB9940000_BravoC_S-RUU_Alltel_UTSI_001-27_hboot_1.09.exe
http://www.htcdev.com/ruu/PB9940000_BravoC_S-RUU_UTSI_028-47_hboot_1.09.exe
After this you must reboot in FastBoot Mode and type in Command Prompt: fastboot oem get_identifier_tokenSubmit
Then submit the token in order to receive your unlock code binary file...
When copying the token, start with this line:
<<<< Identifier Token Start >>>>
And end with this line:
<<<<< Identifier Token End >>>>>
The difference with the official way is that you only unlock the bootloader. You don't get S-OFF so you can't make changes 'on the fly' with Android running, you'd need to do changes with the phone in HBOOT/fastboot mode.
Hi,
thanks man. I'll have a good play with this later today.

If you are using AlphaRev's HBOOT, you should flash downgrade hboot first to be able to flash any other hboot...
I tried this last night but when I tried to flash the unlock binary file it just sat there then came up failed.

the official way of unlocking bootloader. a bit more restrictive than true s-off (cant flash radio)
theres a thread with a little discussion about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431726
FYI.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=662710
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

it's what I was thinking, what's the point of unlocking it with this.. and if you do that I bet you won't be able to flash an alpharev hboot since you can't roll back hboot version, and running revolutionary won't work since it's different hboot version.
That's my hypothesis on this anyway.
Yup. Correct. Unless you flash a hexedited version of this hboot, which has the version downgraded. Any guineapigs? It's useless, unless you plan to retain HTC's stock recovery to flash custom roms. Which again is useless..

Including me.. There's no way to be completely sure that the hexedited portion is the correct bit which decides the version. I flashed a hexedited hboot onto my device, and it did downgrade the version number displayed on the hboot screen, but that does not mean the version lock happens there.
But for fun, you can change the bit that says Alpharev/Revolutionary to whatever you like.

Want to root my HTC Desire.

I'm not sure where to post this.
Anyway, I want to root my HTC Desire. This will be my first time rooting a phone and I'm pretty excited haha. I have searched on Google for rooting/flashing methods, but none of them actually worked for me. I guess it's because my HTC Desire runs Android 2.3.3? I read something about downgrading my phone to 2.2 again, because rooting is than easier? Can somebody help me? ><
Information about my phone:
HTC Desire A8181.
Android version 2.3.3.
HBoot 1.02.001.
I don't know if this is enough information for you guys to help me, but if you need more, just ask.
And btw, I am 14 and not a native English speaker, so there may be some grammar/spelling mistakes.
you don't need to... you can get s-off via revolutionary and flash zip via recovery from question about root... 4th question from here
It's not a design element, it can be used:

It is if you remove SetCPU. Somehow I guess it is in conflict with screenstate script. Last week it was running strong for way more than 300hrs before I forgot my charger in a car on a parking lot. I used it as a hotspot which ran battery flat before I managed to plug it in. Otherwise, it would probably work now even.
Apparently there will be an upgrade. Neophyte tweeted it, and AuraxTremeGinger is a thing to wait for.

on my telstra desire the htc dev rom would crash on stock apps eg camera and message etc and my phone would reboot or freeze randomly , i know it's software related as when i was on the 2.2 rom from telstra i did not have these issues , got so fed up with the rom i decided to s off and install a new sense rom ,from that day on my phone does not freeze or reboot .
No, i own the GSM version. It's an unbranded terminal, PVT-4, made in China (not Taiwan).

Im glad you got it rooted!
The FIRST thing you need to do is make a back up of your system in clockworkmod, to do that boot into clockwork mod and wipe dalivk cache and back up system then reboot.
To flash/install any rom follow these steps
-Download zip from the link given
-place zip into your SD card
-Boot into clockwork recovery
-Wipe cache, Format cache, Format system and Data
-Install zip from SD card and choose the zip that you download
-once done then reboot, your all done
Thanks everyone for all the help.
I finally got everything going.
Just took 2 or 3 tries.

looks promising
suggestions for OP or FAQ:
- can this tool unlock the bootloader?
- if yes what hboot versions does it support (i assume it would need to be an unlockable hboot with 'locked' in the top, like 1.08.0099 or 1.09.0099 for instance?)
may seem obvious to those who have experience with wfs, but can save a lot of time and questions if they are stated clearly.
i've been reading for AGES in these forums for an easy way to unlock bootloader, root, install cwm recovery, then custom rom for my sisters wfs, this may just be it!
so much easier on htc desire...
Thank you
I have encountered many bugs with visual UI, and pushes, etc..... So there will be a new update within three days, so stay tuned

I have Wildfire S AC10e (actually its AC10b as it has special frequency (i.e. 850Mhz))
Hboot: 1.03.0000
Android: 2.3.3
I have been searching everywhere to get it unlocked and such... but just can't
BTW I have noticed that you use taccoroot... I tried using a temproot that uses zergrush and it worked (until I rebooted as it is a temproot) so maybe you could use that to somehow unlock it or something... IDK as I am no developer
PS: I can't update as I have a telstra wildfireS and it has no OTA's available

Which kernel do you suggest?

Hey there
I recently got a one-month old HTC One X and it came with a crappy custom ROM. I then started asking around and reading tutorials until I was finally able to remove it and install a different one. I tried a couple until I settled with TeamVenom's Viper ROM, which in my opinion is an amazing ROM.
Unfortunately, however, the ROM wasn't very stable, which seems to be a common issue with custom ROMs. For one thing, the battery wasn't very good, but that could be due to the large screen and small 1800 mAh battery, but I am not too sure. The most annoying thing, however, was the constant signal dropping. Every day or two I'd find that the phone has absolutely no signal as though there's no sim card installed. I'd have to reboot in order for it to work, and sometimes it wouldn't and would work on its own later. The last problem which made me just uninstall it was the constant dropping of internet signal. The bars would be full and it would either say H or 3G but it still wouldn't work, the upload arrow would flash but not the download one.
I got fed up and decided to remove everything and install the latest stock version of Ice Cream Sandwich. I have been using it for about four days now and I love how stable it is but it still lacks a lot of features and I feel like JB was much quicker and snappier, and didn't eat up as much memory (I know that's usage dependent, but that's how I felt) lol.
Anyway, I was wondering if reinstalling Viper with a different kernel would actually help make it more stable and eliminate the network problems? I have absolutely no idea how to change/install a kernel so a newbie guide would be awesome.
Thank you so much.
My experience :
Fresh install of viper x and using the Alex-v kernel (stock + s2w function) is rock stable !
Works like a charm and very batt friendly. But that's the problem. 1 phone gets great batt life with faux kernel and another with stock.
I have no problems at all, no reboots, no lag !
Can I put a different kernel on arhd ?

Dependo on wich version, the ics version support all the sense based kernel , the jb none. I'd suggest you stock kernel for stability , bricked for battery and eprj for performance.

Would you please link me to that kernel? I'll try to find a tutorial on how to install a kernel. I just did a fresh installation of Viper ROM, by the way, and am now finishing setting it up and such.
Link to all the kernels/roms/mods etc.

Thank you so much. I cannot find the kernel mentioned above in that thread, though. Any ideas where I can find it?
Never mind, I found it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870416
Now onto how to install it
I did some research and found this:
"if its a flashable zip, flash it from recovery.
if its a boot.img, fastboot it from bootloader
you can find softwares to do it too"
That's all fine and dandy, however, in Alex-V's thread there are two files to download:
boot_one_X_Alex-V_s2w_0.1 which is a bootable image
and
Endeavoru-Alex-V_S2W_Kernel_0.1 which is a RAR file
I don't know how to go about installing it. I am assuming I should install the RAR file using clockword recovery and flash the bootable file using fastboot?
Please help.

Hi this is simple to use and does the job if you are not fully up on using ADB
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/bricked-installer-makes-one-x-kernel-flashing-simple/
Thank you so much. I am going to attempt to download the application and flash the kernel using it.
By the way, should I flash the modules that are in Alex-V's thread or just the kernel?
With kernels, you need to flash the boot.img using fastboot and then ALWAYS flash the modules using CWM or TWRP.
Also. It is recommended that you repack the kernel depending on which ROM you're using.

ALTHOUGH: The alex kernel is stock with swipe 2 unlock... so I don't think it would hurt if you didn't repack.
I guess it is done:

I just browsed for the kernel RAR file and flashed it. What about the modules, though, or are they not important?
This installer has done it all for you.
You're good to go!
Thank you so much, mate, I really appreciate all the help!
In the first page it said "add these two lines to the build file".. is that how it is done?
Thanks
