Is there a way to disable the timeout features on Bluetooth. I have a Bose Bluetooth speaker that I use most of the day while working. If I pause the music for more than a few minutes the Bluetooth will shut off. I can re-pair the devices quick enough but it's a hassle. My Note 2 phone doesn't have this issue. Sometimes on the settings page, it will show Bluetooth as turned on but when I try to re-pair it will suddenly switch off and ask me to turn it back on.

Never had any issues with this on my headphones and thats sometimes with over 30mins of not playing anything.
This is a pure guess but try this.....connect and Pair your Bluetooth Bose speaker and then
Go to settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Click setting icon (cog on far right) on the paired device > and make sure both call and media audio box is checked.
if thats not the problem then this will do the trick hopefully
Go to settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Hit menu button > Visibility Timeout > and change it to Never
once again pure guess's since I've never had this issue before but the latter should work.
Good suggestions but didn't work. Hmmm.
I also had this problem with my bluetooth keyboard...
After a complete reset and switching the visibility timeout to never my keyboard was immediately recognized and now I can use it!
So, I don't think that's a hw-problem, it's just a crappy firmware...
... "Go to settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Hit menu button > Visibility Timeout > and change it to Never"
I can't change "Visibility Timeout" to "Never". Can't find "Visibility Timeout".
There is a point at "Settings - Device - Display - Screen Timeout", but this has no entry for "Never"
Thinking about getting a Bluetooth wireless keyboard soon. Hope I don't have any of these issues. Haven't tried Bluetooth on this device yet.

It is not the Note loosing connection. I have three BT keyboards that pair with all my tablets no trouble. The keyboards themselves sleep to save power. Hit a key to wake it wait for about a second and type and you are fine. The sleep delay is different on each keyboard. From around 2 to 5 minutes on my longest before it sleeps. For the time between charges on the keyboard that is quite a long time. I have accidently left a keyboard turned on from one evening to the next and used the keyboard for three or four days and just charged it then to be safe, it was still charged and working. Also, I just tried a mouse. The keyboard and mouse are both Bluetooth and work fine together. FYI - the mouse sleeps too after a few minutes.

i updated my touch to 6.1 now it wont find my motorola S9 headset what do i do
my s9 works fine on my touch and titan wm 6.1....make sure when u first power on your s9 the blue light stays solid...this means its in pairing mode, then open up connections manager, click settings, bluetooth, find new device and it should find it in a few seconds
It should work just fine, upgrading to WM6.1 doesn't change the way your bluetooth functions.
i've had trouble pairing my bluetooth as well. instead of going to bluetooth explorer, go to settings > connections > bluetooth > add new device (even if its in the list still click this). after it finds the headset go through all the settings then when your done tap and hold where it says S9 (or whatever your headset is called) then choose set as wireless stereo, then it will say your device wants to connect. if it says the passcode is invalid try again and it should work. while this way of pairing my headset can take around 5 min. or more, its the only way it seems to be working.
i am not sure if your phone is showing the same symptoms as mine or not, but if this is a common problem then i hope someone smarter than me can fix it, becaue the way i have to set it up is a real pain.
My car has bluetooth built in and it works fine. It also has a USB socket, which shares the AUX button on my cars headset with the BT audio.
However, everytime I go to the car ( I leave by BT on all day as I am constantly in and out of the car) it automatically starts playing media files from the phone. When this happens, it disables the USB input , unless I pull out the USB and put it back in again.
I turn off the 'media' tick box in bluetooth settings for the pairing, hit return, yet the next time I get in the car, it turns itself back on.
Is there a way of permanently disabling the 'media' setting in the bluetooth settings for this pairing?
I have this phone also paired to another car, but that one doesn't have the media option in its settings.
Also does anyone know how to get the phone to connect to the headset during a phone call while the ringtone is ringing? This phone sends the sound over to the head unit as soon as the call is answered, meaning that I never know if it is ringing or not, or connected. It would be nice to hear the ringtone ringing over the speakers and before it is picked up.
A friend of mine has the same problem with his bluetooth carkit. But not only when he start his car. I'm curious for a solution.
It's your radio .. incorrect support and usage of bluetooth specifications
I dont think it is the radio, because I can turn off 'media'in the bluetooth settings/bluetooth devices/options, and leave 'phone'on.
The next time I get back into the car, media turns itself back on automatically and starts playing tracks from the phone through the radio.
The bluetooth pairing on the phone that exists for the other car I have does not have a media setting.
Is there an advanced bluetooth settings app that can permantly leave the 'media' button unchecked?

it is a similar problem to this:

Ignore this
I pair and connect to my stereo headset using the Defy Bluetooth. And it always connects and works fine until exactly 15min and then it disconnects.
After that I'm unable to connect again. I have to switch Bluetooth off and also my headset, then re-start them all and connect again (even that sometimes fails and requires a repeat a few times.)
I had a look through and can't see anything (Data Manager, Battery Manager, Display) that has a 15min cut off. I'm on standard Froyo.
Someone mentioned "Settings -> Power -> Auto Switch Off -> xx min" I don't have Power option in my settings, is that a different version or called differently !? There is no Stand By setting or anything like that. My phone display is set to go after 2 min and security locks after 3 min - but no 15 min anywhere !?
I have a couple of Task Killers, but nothing is set on them to automatically kill tasks - the tasks (Music Player, Economists Audio) are still running and Bluetooth is ON anyway, just not connecting.
The stereo headset is very, very basic but works perfectly on N95 (well passed the 15min) - but again everything worked perfectly on N95 !!!
Any ideas...?
Cheers,
Hi,
I want to keep BT enabled on my SGS7 but also I no need to have watch connected all the time (annoying notifications). For example, I am at home and I need BT to control light in room but I no need phone to be connected with Huawei watch. How to disconnect watch (temporary) but keep BT enabled?
P.S I don't want to unpair watch because I need to quick connect after I leave house (manualy).
I used to use Secure Settings in a Tasker profile to disconnect my watch while on a phone call and reconnect when the call was over. You could probably do the same thing based on your location (at home or away).

My focus isn't automatic switching, but keeping BT enabled while watch is disconnected. I want to manualy connect/disconnect watch. There must be native option for that, but I can't find.
Now it works like this:
I enable BT on my phone -> Huawei watch connect to phone automaticly.
And I want:
I enable BT on phone -> watch stay disconnected. I manualy connect watch with phone when I need, and disconnect when I no need watch anymore. So I can use phone BT to do other things.
I've never done it, but Tasker can create a widget that would let you run the toggle profile manually.

Android Wear app on phone.
Gear symbol upper right
Touch :"HUAWEI WATCH connected"
Toggle "Connected" slider off
That leave phone BT on and does not require repairing watch, just slide it back on and the watch reconnects.

That's it! Thank you so much!
Does anyone else have any issues streaming music over bluetooth? When I connect it to my car, it sounds terrible, as if the phone's volume is up too much.
When I first connected it, I had it at about 3/4 volume since that was the sweet spot on my Note 8, so I turned it down, and even at 2 steps up from off, the music sounds like garbage. I messed with the settings in the car, turning down the input volume, etc, but my wife's phone plays fine through it and my old phone still does as well, so it's not the car.
Playing music through the phone speakers is fine.
Edit: I was wrong about below. When I reconnected next time I got in the car, if went back. Apparently my car only supports SBC.
Turning on the Disable Absolute Volume option is what actually fixed it.
Well turns out there are bluetooth settings int he Developer Options now.. I don't remember that on previous phones.
I set Bluetooth Audio Codec to Use System Selection from SBC. That seems to fixed it. I set the others that had the Use System Selection as an option to that as well.
Oddly, it shows that is the default, yet none of them were set to it.
In one of my 4 cars, that has Pioneer 2018 device, I had to turn off phone and contact sharing in those settings for it to stay connected. Kept doping connection even though it said it was connected.
Butt, I just looked at the settings for that Pioneer, and only contact sharing is disabled. I may have accidentally turned it back on when I was showing my radio installer these options. Maybe I only need to turn off contact sharing. It still worked after I talked to him. I'll test later.
.
Had no issues with my head unit in my car or with my headphones. Both have aptX, so they sound the same as my previous phone. No random drops yet.
