Hi there,
I bought this device recently, and soon noticed it is quit though to have a decent conversation with it.
Basically after one minute the signal seems lost, I cannot hear properly the other person, then it comes back, then the call hangs up..and so on.
Anyone having any similar experiences with this phone? Is there any way to fix it? Is there anything I could try to do?
Thanks.

Hello,
thanks for replying.
This does mean I would lose the 3G internet speed, doesn't it?
If so, I don't think that it is an option.

Yup,but what happens is whenever 3g n/w is low,its keeps on searching for network, wont switch to 2g that easily,,so I thought that may be ur prob I think

It looks like I can have a decent call with both the settings "GSM only" and "WCDMA only" (with data disabled).
I finished my data allowance for the month and my operator set me a limit of 32k. Could that cause the problem? So there isn't a real device issue?
I have always thought that data and voice had different separated bandwith ranges, speaking in terms of frequency...

edit: so it works absolutely fine on fi27. now off to fk23 again.
There is a sprint app showing up as disabled but it shows it is still loaded up and running when clicked on.
A quick question: In the FK09 thread, people mentioned that with the full screen browser all you have to do to see the notifications is swipe your finger down from the top of the phone. I tried it a couple of times but it never worked. Does anyone know how this works?

Connection Manager was doing that in the previous FK build. I didn't notice that it being disabled negatively impacting the Rom (note: on the previous FK build I figured out how to enable it and noticed no change and it automatically disabled on my next reboot).

A2DP bluetooth headset music part works. hearing a caller doesn't work. I didn't test if caller heard me.
The issues with some Blutooth are the drivers from AOSP there's nothing Samsung can do there I believe.
Only Google and or Broadcom can solve this.

In my country, after certain data is used, speed is then shaped at 384 kbps.
So, i was thinking whether there is a way to force the phone to run on UMTS only.
It will probably save a lot of battery. I saw such function on CM based rom, but I am on Omega rom (sammy based).
Thanks.
I second this question. I use whatsapp as my main form of communication on my phone and have to check emails for work as soon as they come in. I would like to run the phone on the edge network and only activate the 3g stuff when I need it. I am running the stock firmware but I am rooted. Oh and no CWM just stock recovery also. So hope there is a way without haveing to flash something.

Install Simplistic Framework. It will give you a toggle to easily switch between 2g and 3g
Check settings....
Under settings-> mobile networks -> You can change setting from GSM/WCDMA AUTO to GSM only
I use Asylum rom... do not remember much about Omega but its there somewhere in settings.

i have done that in my previous phone, and it significantly improved my battery performance, it may have to do with poor WCDMA coverage in my country, but still, it's worth trying

I'm having the same issue. The GPS keeps coming on, even with everything turned off in the general settings and within my apps. I did a factory reset and wiped all my data and the problem still persist. I also have taken out the battery, sim and sd card too and still no luck. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I have not had this problem, I'm on ATT as well. Although I do not have the value pack upgrade as it seems to cause degraded battery and gaming performance on my phone.
Try factory reset from settings...save all your data first on a ext-sdcard or on your pc then do the factory reset...

I call at&t and they have no complaint reports for this issue. Or know anything about it. They guy from tech care recommend a master reset. Wich i say No. Cause i work for tmobile and thats what i do to clients lol! Karma is a bi#$%.
Anyways location access so far turn on while making a call, conecting to wifi or data. Or waking the phone from stand by.
I went to google settings and under location i turn off the location reporting & location history. So far so good. So i will keep testing this and let you guys now.

No this is becoming a widespread issue. I had this problem and literally would watch the switch go from off to on in a matter of seconds. Everytime I received a phone call it would turn the GPS on, each and every time. I had to disable the carrier iq and all the services associated with it, and surprisingly my battery life has significantly increased on standby.
How do you disable the carrier iq? What did you disable exactly?

I have noticed this issue as well. I am trying to pin down exactly what is causing it. I believe I am getting close, as I have noticed a specific Google location service being active each time I have had problems with the GPS. After stopping that location service the gps isn't turning on every 2-3 minutes.

Hello,
Hope all is well.
I was wondering if anyone experienced an issue with their Samsung Galaxy S4 where the screen flickers on the bottom 3/4 of the screen with a greyish tint? Not sure what is causing this and can't seem to figure out if it is a hardware or software issue.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated - thank you!!
I'm afraid that is a hardware defect.

Hardware defects are covered by warranty. So long as you can reproduce the flickering on a 100 percent non rooted stock ROM.

Doubtful it is hardware
I have been having this problem since the 4.3 update. It usually only happens when the screen dims down due to screen timeout. Then it will start to get worse and project the flicker at regular brightness. A reboot usually fixes the problem or lessens it for a period of time.
I have tried with and without my live wallpaper, auto brightness on and off. Some people have recommended a factory reset to see if that clears it, but I have not been willing to do that yet since I have data that I do not want to loose and have not had the time to really troubleshoot. I am completely stock.
This has been driving me crazy for a while now. If you do factory reboot please post if makes a difference.
I think I've found the best solution out there for most annoying screen flickering issues... Done a substential amount of digging and finally discovered the app "Twillight" which works like a real charm by enabling backlight control feature... Try it out first, then thank me and share your experience here ...

I have a T-Mobile SGH-M919, and recently when ever I make/receive a call using cell signal there is no sound. I can'r hear them and they can't hear me. However whenever I cake/receive a call using wifi, it works like a charm.
This is the 2nd replacement and the thing is happening again. I have downgraded/upgraded all rainbow colors of modem.bin. I even went to the stock 4.2.2 modem.bin, unlocked, cleared nvram, rebuilt nvram, restored nvram to no avail.
What can be preventing my phone from producing/capturing sound during calls over cell? It works perfectly over WiFi

Neither, all official software.
I was trying to SIM unlock by downgrading the baseband, and then upgrading it.
Its most likely a hardware problem. Your warranty should cover it.
