Hi,
I had rooted my Xperia Arc with eroot 1.2 but then got a bit carried away and moved some files I shouldn't had moved to my sd card and my phone started showing some errors like telling me the keyboard app has stopped or android.com.phone process as stopped.
Since that was happening I had to use pc companion and restore the original firmware.
Now, everytime I try to root it with eroot it fails. Any idea way I am sticking to what the tutorials suggest.
As I couldn't do it that way, I used flashtool 0.9.10 and doomlord script and manage to root the phone but strangelly it revert to its original state where it had files missing and started giving me notices that the keyboard process and android.phone had to be stopped and I can use sms because of that. '
Any ideas on how to fix this or way this is happening?
Already went on CWM recovery and cleaned everything and flashed the firmware several times but everytime the phone is rooted it reverts to this problem almost if he had some sort of recovery point to go to.
With stock firmware from Sony, everything is fine.
New to this site so please do excuse me if there is already any thread on this, I think there isn't.
Please help, thanks!
Rooting again with Eroot. USB debugging on? Unknown sources turned on?
Which firmware are you actually trying to root?
You said you moved files to SDcard. What files? Did you try to move them back? If yes, did you set correct permissions (rw-r--r-- for apps)?

Well, when I rooted the first time with eroot I had usb debugging on, unknown sources turned on and it worked but not now.
I am trying to root firmware 4.1.B.0.587 I can root it if I flash the phone and use doomlords script but not sure why the phone after being rooted restores to the point he was in August, with missing files and all. Mind that after I screwed up in August, I re installed the original firmware 4.1.B.0.587 via pc companion and all got back to normal and unrooted.
When I moved the files to the sd I moved several and phone was working ok till the next reset, when it started displaying the same error messages as now after rooting so I am not sure what files I moved, but I would say, at leats something like the keyboard apk.
It says the process android.phone.com stopped working and the same for keyboard so I can't access sms.
For the time being, I used pc companion to reinstal firmware 4.1.B.0.587 and it works fine but every time I root it, same mistakes reappear.
Shouldn't all data on internal memory be erased when I flash the phone with firmware 4.1.B.0.587 using pc companion? So, why do this erros reapear when I root it?
Thanks

Same boat I was also at work busy phone updated and bam now I am brick. I even used Titanium backup to remove system updater and the thing STILL updated.
Can some one help us please
nick4nick good news! I am unbricked here's how:
First download the program from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126354
It is a self extracting rar in non english (not sure the language), make sure to set your extract destination as mine wanted to install it in the Firefox directory.
Anyways...
If you need to install the drivers for your phone to recognize when you hold back and plug it in they are in the drivers folder just run the ggsetup-2.2.0.10.
If you already have those drivers ignore that then, and open the X10FlashTool file (I right clicked and ran as adminitrator) Click the Flash button and follow the steps. (It will say connect phone while holding back at this point DO NOT do it earlier than when it tells you or it will fail.)
Next it will run through some text about how it is flashing your phone etc, when it says to enable debugging blah blah blah you're done.
I unplugged my phone turned it on, got the SE screen, the android screen and was back on 2.3.2. It said "update failed" and I laughed because I clearly tried to stop it.
Last info, in the thread I started when I was in a panic too someone said we need to delete mobile care using titanium backup, I had just removed the updater portion which is not enough. Hopefully you get it working, good luck!
thanks !!!! i will try it
Evil-Eye ' you are my new friend ''''' THANKS
Sounds like it worked, good thing we avoided disaster.
hi guys
when u said u were bricked and now repaired?
is ur radio working or not?
Mine was simfree on o2 running "R800i_3.0.1.A.0.145_UK" , unlocked bootloader , over the air update killed my phone , after applying the fix in post one, and doing a complete wipe , everything seems fine , radio working and everything.

My radio is working but I am getting insufficient space on device now wondering if that has anything to do with recovering from a brick. Basically I can't install anything from the market or update any apps.
Minds to getting insufficient space on device, but i do know that i have lots of space. We need help!!!
I'm terrified of this happening to me. I just got my phone and can't use rom manager to create a backup rom because clockwork has no xperia install. What can/should I do in advance?
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
OK I got fed up so here's what I did:
I relocked my bootloader and went COMPLETELY stock. That will fix the insufficient space, also I read you can just flash the tft but since I'm not that proficient at this since this is my first droid I just went 100% stock.
I updated to 2.3.3 to get that over with, then I re unlocked my bootloader redid the root, then I locked my bootloader again.
I decided to just keep the bootloader locked so I don't have to deal with the worries of not updating. However using Titanium backup and removing Mobile care will stop you from updating if you are insistent on never updating. Good luck to everyone, you can definitely get to where I am though. Rooted 2.3.3 locked bootloader and able to accept OTA updates from now on
Hi everyone, first post here, I only just discovered the whole rooting thing, despite normally being up on all this hacking and modding stuff.
I have a Sony Ericson Xperia Play R800i, Android Version Gingerbread 2.3.4, Build Number 4.0.2.A.0.42, no carrier.
After trying Flashtool and noting that ZergRush no longer works, I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240285&highlight=root
It seemed to work, installed Superuser, and Titanium worked for a few minutes until I decided to reboot my phone.
After that, Superuser doesn't seem to work at all. It fails to load when an app is asking for access, and it also fails to update when requestiong root access. Sometimes it will say 'fail', and other times it will simply stop working.
Anyone have any idea how to get it to work again? I've tried to regular stuff, clearing data, reinstalling the apps, unrooting and rerooting through the same app.
I'm stumped.
EDIT:
After a little playing around, I managed to get root access again. At least until I took out my USB cable.
As soon as I removed the cable, SuperUser started acting up and it's exactly as it was before.
Could this be an issue with my phone, or am I doing something wrong?
EDIT 2:
I've found that I can only retain root while my USB cable is plugged in and Debugging is enabled. Is there a way to ensure I have permanent root, seeing as I don't seem to be able to keep it?
Flash your xperia using 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware. I think your kernel is not rootable. Flash it to a rootable kernel before rooting. Ask Mr. Google where to download those firmwares
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240285
Hey guys,
I got it to stick! I just need to leave USB Debugging turned on, I think.
Eh, who knows, at least it's working.
@lucasmoney10 That's the same app I used, I think you even used the same link that I posted... Cheers anyway.
Thanks for the advice and ideas guys, turns out I'm just a bit new to this whole deal.

This is practically a cry for help after i searched for hours.
Model: Sm-n910P
Software version : Unknown
Android : 4.4.4
Baseband: Unknown
build: PVPU1ANK2
Stock recovery
(if anything else helps just ask)
Problem first: My note 4 has no network of any kind (wifi doesnt start , doesnt recognize sim card )
When i try attaching a usb cable i get Device is not recognized (checked drivers, cables so its software and it's the mobile)
The only communication with the device is via the SD Card.
Tried flashing a stock 4.4.4 via stock recovery. Nope! It says Update from external card is disabled.
I'm looking for a way to root , or flash anything.
Every thought, suggestion, idea is welcomed.

Never been OTA updated to lollipop OE1? That one doesn't allow downgrading to older versions.
Device not recognized with USB in what mode and operation? Security protocols for KitKat and Lollipop are restricted. Device should be recognized in custom recovery or download mode. Did you try Odin? Power down, download mode and flash the NK2 stock tar. If you're still having problems ##786#. Still having issues, try the NIE stock tar. Make sure you power down before flashing stock tars. Link to KitKat tars mentioned above; follow OP, post 1 for instructions.

For root, you need CF Auto Root for Note 4. You can also try TWRP Manager for custom recovery. It's in Google Play. But you don't have to root to flash in Odin. Samsung KIES is alternate method for restoring factory firmware or updates but some are confused by the serial number request; not recognized. Haven't tried it myself.

Tx for the reply.
Device is not recognized in neither mode (normal, download or recovery).
I tried ##786# but i dont know my msl and i cant find a wy to get it (im outside the US so the phone is not activated). I tried some "msl reader find my msl" programs but they cant get it. Any1 has some apk that may work in my case?
As for the flashing as I stated all I need is a way to flash stock but i cant get the PC to recognize the phone so im stuck.
EDIT 1 As far as I know never been updated (bought the phone in ebay)
I don't know if there's anything that can be done but get a refund. Sounds like you bought a brick. Was it always a brick?
Did you try another USB port? Try the rear port. If not, try a hard reset: wipe cache and dalvik and factory reset and try to reboot. Long shot would be a hard reset and OB7 update.zip; unless it's completely stock, the update will be rejected. But I'm thinking that can no longer just be placed on external sdcard. That may have to placed on the file system as if the phone downloaded it, itself.
It's safer to hard reset. If not rebooting to normal operation, time to pursue a refund.

So I was thinking about the situation you're in. I recalled the phone can be unlocked to use internationally on 3G only. Is it unlocked? It would also
need to set your carrier APN/Access points to get data.
If you own the phone, Sprint will give you the MSL number. Sprint can help unlock it and there's also this method but I don't know much about about it. There's also the hard reset method that can be done within settings.
Here's a method that was requested with a pledged bounty. But try Sprint first.

My initial impression was phone is bricked but not sure if a locked phone's WiFi is bound to regional USA that would cause WiFi connection issues? It's still possible the USB issue is not using a USB 2.0 port or a bad cable. It may not be bricked. Try reinstalling driver and/or another PC.

Well I tried everything u mentioned , full factory restore, wipe everything. I even tried update from external (since stock has no option for updating from the internal sd) but i get an error (update from external storage is disabled). The phone is practically a brick for the network part but I'm not sure I can return it back in the states as I'm in Europe. Any way i can root via some apk ?

I didn't think the root is possible without Odin for either the custom recovery or root.
eBay return practice would be to notify seller of issue. If no response, contact eBay.

Wouldnt the entire phone be soft-bricked (not just the network part) if you did the factory reset and wiped your phone but cant get the cable to recognize your phone on your pc ???
Or is that your current situation?
Well everything but network works. I can install apk's from sdcard, open apps etc. Next thing is the screen just got black and is not giving signs of life (didn't do anything it was charging) so it's going in a repair shop. Thanks everyone for the efforts. Case may be considered closed.

Well, good luck. Hope it works out for you.
As an after thought, have you tried connecting another Samsung phone to the computer?

Hi,
i'm running Android 2.3.7. on my Sony Xperia S LT26i, and despite all the advice and directions i've gotten here (Installing flashtool and downloading the jellybean firmware and following all the step by step guides) it still doesn't seem to work.
My phone responds to NOTHING i've done so far exepting for 2 things...
1. Kingroot no longer pops up when i launch a new app. I think i have successfully disabled it. But i'm still unable to update the binary for Supersu, so it still isn't working like i suspect it should.
2. My phone shut down and refused to switch back on for about 3hrs or more.
One thing noteworthy thing is that Flashtool will not recognize the Jellybean firmware i downloaded from the links i get here, or any other firmware i found for my phone and downloaded. Even though i put it in the c/flashtool/firmware folder as instructed.
Please help me.
Hello everyone,
I didn't want to do anything too hard but it seems I made a mess out of it. I have an old xperia z1 that was working properly. All I wanted to do was to root it, make an app as system app and unroot it.
I made the first 2 steps correctly but unfortunately I couldn't unroot it. I used KingRoot and it didn't allow me to unroot. I saw in a solution it was suggested to flash to stock ROM instead of hard resetting it.
So I tried, downloaded flashtool, latest version.
Didn't go right... it seems that release has a bug that doesn't allow you to locate the ROM files.
To make it short.. after various attempts I find a previous version of flashtool and finally I manage to arrive at the end of the flashing process... here it goes totally wonrg..
The phone is now stuck in a rebooting process. I see for 1 second or 2 a screen saying "NFC firmware update" and then it keeps restarting. May I please ask you to help me fixing this? Thanks in advance!
