You may know this adapter, but I found this one extremely cheap and it has a good quality (1080p).

www . monoprice . com <-- Sorry for the messed up spaces I don't have linking privileges yet. I paid $4.50 for a 6ft mini to full HDMI cable for TV Out and that price included shipping.
I always get all my mounts and cables there they are the best.

Tripp Lite Mini-HDMI to HDMI Cable (6 feet) on Amazon for $3.08 w/shipping
Definitely monoprice. I picked up a 15-foot HDMI/HDMI cable for under $6. I added a HDMI/mini-HDMI adapter and an HDMI/DVI-D adapter (a couple of dollars each).
That lets me use the cable as:
- a straight HDMI - HDMI cable (component to TV)
- a HDMI - mini-HDMI (Archos to TV)
- a DVI-D - mini-HDMI (Archos to computer monitor)
- a DVI-D - HDMI (component to computer monitor)
Maximum flexibility, for about $10.

seriously. archos to monitor? this can be done? I had no idea!?
Right now I have the official USB adapter that plugs into the 30-pin port. I'm wondering if I can plug in an MHL adapter with a micro USB to full size USB adapter into the Samsung USB adapter and get any kind of video output?

According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-definition_Link) you should be able to, as the SGT (does that include the 10.1?) is mentioned to support it, and using the official USB device (I myself have the official 2-piece set, with SD-card reader and micro-sd converter included) you should get the desired results
Doesnt the usb converter include the OTG bit though, so its not a straight 30 pin to usb convertor. Might not produce any results with the hdmi plugged into it?

Ok, so other than being able to sell both an MHL adaptor AND an HDMI cable (to further screw us out of more money) to be able to output audio and video from the Nexus to a compatible TV......
is there any reason that MHL adaptors all seem to be Male micro USB to Female
HDMI? Are there any that are just Male Micro USB to Male HDMI, thereby eliminating the need to carry another cable?
I have yet to find one.
Hello. I just received my mhl - hdmi adaptor and it s great. The fact that i have to plug in the charger into the adaptor restricts my movement around the TV. I want to know if i can stream from my galaxy to the TV without having to do that. I wonder if it s possible just to plug the hdmi into the adaptor and then the phone into the adaptor. Thanks !
I have an HTC M9 and an MHL cable with breakout micro USB connector. I can attach it via HDMI but cannot get my wireless Logitech keyboard with USB dongle to work at the same time. Also, if I use the fast charger it refuses to charge through the MHL adapter because of “overcharging” and when I use a non-fast charger it shows it charging but instead loses charge.
I’ve also been looking for an Android dock that will allow me to use HDMI, charging, and USB keyboard/mouse all at the same time but can find nothing that is capable of this except a Samsung dock. Is there a difference with Samsung type USB connectors that allow it to work simultaneously?
I read about MHL 3.0 and how it does 4K, 10W charging, data transfer, and charging simultaneously over a single cable. Will this work for my M9 or do I actually have to use a device that supports MHL 3.0 like the Xperia Z3?
MHL uses the data lines in the connector, so they are not available for either USB or for signaling a higher power charger. It's the way it is.
Samsung phones use a proprietary connector with additional contacts, but also require special MHL adapters. They may be able to do USB or high power charging at the same time as MHL (but not both at the same time). Not sure.
Edit: above based on MHL. MHL 3.0, not sure - HTC says it's supported, but nothing about which specific features are.
