3G/HSPA/LTE and SIM cards.

I have read a few comments regarding people using old SIM cards, designed for older 3G phones, I live in an area that does not have LTE and my signal icon reads 4G and service is listed as HSPA under the settings screen.
If I was to get an old 3G SIM would my phone be running only on 3g and stop hunting for LTE signal? Perhaps HSPA towers are the same and my phone already has the connection? As you can see I am a bit confused with the subject

Its not technically the sim card itself that determines this but the service or carrier that it associated to that matters...and then the phone hardware. The carrier info that passes through the sim tells the phone what network it is on or supposed to use and then searches for that service level dependind on the hardware that's in the phone and the settings one may have the phone set to.hope this makes sense.

Can't connect to 4G

Hi guys my new Optimus G Pro connects to edge just fine, but I can't connect to 4G!

Does the icon change from just the E?

Where are you using it and what carrier? It may be your APN settings.

I'm pretty sure it's not the APN, used the same settings on another phone, just switched sims.
My location is Trinidad, and my carrier is bMobile (Cable&Wireless)
And 4G still works when I put the sim back in the other phone ( A Samsung Galaxy Note)
edit: I tried wiping, rebooting, switching the data on and off.....even flashed over the stock ROM, still no go. Just edge.

I'm bumping this cuz I installed CM10 and still no dice.
Forgot to mention that my SIM was cut to fit the phone.
Don't know if that would affect my 4g?

Ok so I am not getting 4G because the phone isn't detecting WCDMA.
Anyone have a fix for this?
Can I flash E980 on my phone?

So here's the deal, E988 does not work on 4G in my country, but the E980 would.

Carrier bMobile/TSTT/C&W:
You can use a UMTS, HSPA or HSPA+ device operating at 1900MHz, but to get the best experience we recommend HSPA+. You will also need a 4G data plan, and you must be within a bMobile 4G coverage area to experience 4G speeds.

According to LG website their handset E988 works on 1800/2600 MHz for 4g.
I returned the phone and got a Samsung S4 instead.
Extremely disappointed cuz the LG was a superior experience to me.

Request. Need EFS backup of Singapore Optimus G E975

Hi guys I need an EFS back up of any Singapore Optimus G. I'm using Singtel. My sim card works on other phones (can get 3G and 4G) but my phone can't.
The mobile data only shows a 'G' not 3G or 4G. My mobile network type shows 'GPRS'.
I use to have 3G and 4G LTE. Now I'm limited to 2G speeds.

I was on stock ROM. It's okay I went to LG service centre at Alexandria Rd and they replaced my motherboard because one of the antennae was spoilt so I couldn't receive any 3G or 4G.

Sim unlock

Is it possible to unlock the sim from my g2 and put it in a router that accepts sims and use my unlimited 4g in the router and only have 3g on my phone, i dont mind only 3g on my phone and my only option for internet is crazy expensive limited data satellite lol and im tired of my phone bein a hotspot because id like to be able to make calls and stuff more often

no. IN order to have the 4g, the device and sim card have to be matched up with sprint. Sim card it attached to a particular MEID on your account.

Good am guys, I'm from the philippines and I have a samsung galaxy s4 mini i9195t 4g LTE came from australia with vodafone sim last year. I'm using our local simcard. Can't access free data, 3g and 4g LTE. Upon researching i saw that I can only access 2g network which is the reason I'm here
Can anyone. Is there any way that I can access 3G and 4G LTE signal? I never root this phone nor unlock and the system was never been touch. When I got it I just insert my local sim.
Please help me guys I've been searching for the right forum for the solution of this problem.

Yes I tried to switch it to LTE/WCDMA/. WCDMA/GSM. WCDMA. It doesn't receive any signal at all. Even though im near from the 3g or LTE network. I can't even use surf promo when I registered to a surf promo here it always eat my balance. And i am not receiving 3g or 4g. It's just letter E always.
