In my s4 mini i cannot get 4G signal, only H+. And i am in 4G zone. Anyone have this issue? Thanks
Nope, I am in Singapore and do not have this issue. Are you on stock ROM?
S4 Mini's LTE radio supports:
LTE Band 3 (1,800MHz), Band 7 (2,600MHz), Band 8 (900MHz), Band 20 (800MHz)
[Source]
Vodafone Portugal supports Band 20 (800MHz), Band 3 (180 MHz) and Band 7 (2600MHz)
[Source]
So it should work.

Best of luck!
I suggest you check with your carrier on the 4G status and your phone if it still doesn't work!
There is coverage in my zone from my carrier. I will contact Vodafone to see if they help me to find the problem. Thanks for the help
EDIT: there was a problem with my service in the network. It is fixed now, have 4G.
Congrats!

I have a somewhat similar problem of owning an s4 mini but only getting HSPA+ (icon "H+" in the status bar) and not 4G LTE (icon "4G"). In fact, since I purchased the unit in late July, I have *never* to my knowledge had 4G service, only HSPA+. The key difference from the OP is that I am in the U.S., have T-Mobile as my carrier, and my s4 mini is an unlocked unit. Has anyone else bought an unlocked s4 mini for the U.S. market and not been able to achieve 4G LTE?
T-Mobile offers 4G LTE in my area (Detroit area), and I have also used the phone in Hawaii, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Portland, OR. In none of these places have I attained 4G LTE service.
At first, T-Mobile said that the phone probably operates on incompatible bands with their network. But I confirmed that the 4G LTE bands used by T-mobile are supported by the s4 mini. So back to why no 4G LTE??? Any advice would be great appreciated. Love everything about the phone, except for the disappointment of having expected to have 4G LTE on my newly purchased phone.

Anyone know if this will enable LTE for the TMOUS network? Also what are the TMOUS LTE frequencies and which ones do the phone use because I cannot confirm they are similar.

Hi newarkoz,
I have the same problem in Vodafone PT, when I called the customer service, they tried to make an elaborate excuse that 4G signal was being displayed as H+ on S4 mini.
And by now I know it´s a lie.
Can you share what you did?

Yes it is a lie. I called the customer service and they told me that my SIM CARD wasn't 4G so they send me another to my home (or you can go get one in a store). Then the problem persisted, so i called them again and they said that they needed to activate the 4G in my service. In one hour i get 4G on S4 Mini.
Maybe your problem is on the SIM CARD... Try to go to a store.
And see in this page if the location where you are trying to use 4G is covered: http://www.vodafone.pt/main/Ajuda/Cobertura/

Hi guys my new Optimus G Pro connects to edge just fine, but I can't connect to 4G!
Help!

E988
And I don't have LTE but HSDPA+
Does the icon change from just the E?
Where are you using it and what carrier? It may be your APN settings.
I'm pretty sure it's not the APN, used the same settings on another phone, just switched sims.
My location is Trinidad, and my carrier is bMobile (Cable&Wireless)
And 4G still works when I put the sim back in the other phone ( A Samsung Galaxy Note)
edit: I tried wiping, rebooting, switching the data on and off.....even flashed over the stock ROM, still no go. Just edge.
I'm bumping this cuz I installed CM10 and still no dice.
Forgot to mention that my SIM was cut to fit the phone.
Don't know if that would affect my 4g?
Ok so I am not getting 4G because the phone isn't detecting WCDMA.
Anyone have a fix for this?
Can I flash E980 on my phone?
So here's the deal, E988 does not work on 4G in my country, but the E980 would.
Carrier Digicel:
Customers must have a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) or High Speed Pocket Access (HSPA) or High Speed Pocket Access Plus (HSPA+) handset capable of a 1900 megahertz frequency (“4G Compatible Handset”) to subscribe to a Standard Data Plan or a 4G compatible BlackBerry handset to subscribe to a BB Data Plan.

Carrier bMobile/TSTT/C&W:
You can use a UMTS, HSPA or HSPA+ device operating at 1900MHz, but to get the best experience we recommend HSPA+. You will also need a 4G data plan, and you must be within a bMobile 4G coverage area to experience 4G speeds.

According to LG website their handset E988 works on 1800/2600 MHz for 4g.
I returned the phone and got a Samsung S4 instead.
Extremely disappointed cuz the LG was a superior experience to me.
Hi,
I bought a LG Optimus G E975 from the website kogan.au. When I got the phone, it looks like it's not for Australia market - the language was set to Chinese, and so was the user guide. Then I flashed the Avatar ROM from this forum.
Everything works fine except that whenever I use 3G mobile network, the speed is extremely slow, e.g. 13kb/s - it brings me to the stone age. Even I am with Telstra, the biggest service provider in Australia, I cannot get 4G everywhere - only a part of Sydney region has got it. So I have to rely on 3G network. This is very painful. I have 1GB download quota per month but I can barely use it.
After some googling, I have discovered that LG Optimus G E975 only supports HSDPA 900 / 2100 for 3G netowork, while Telstra network 3G operates at HSDPA 850 / 2100, and lots of area doesn't have access to HSDPA 2100. I believe this is the cause of my slow 3G network speed.
Does anyone has experience of how to resolve my issue, i.e. how to speed up my 3G browsing?
Thanks for help in advance.
Mark

Lots of CM based Roms are having troubles with Wi-fi /3G (that's my experience). Try flashing the Epsilon rom (not cm based) and see if it helps

Thanks, mate.
Telstra uses mostly 850Mhz on UMTS. From start, your phone is wrong. And you won't be able to use 4G either. Don't know the laws in Australia, but here in Europe we have 10 working days(30 in some cases) to return a product. Also, you could contact the seller and tell him your issue. He sold you an useless phone.
Another thing you can do is to check the apn's.The speed you mention is like GPRS/EDGE.

It's already a few month since I bought the phone, so I am not sure I can return this product to the seller.
Anyway, I have learned my lesson.
Thanks very much.
I would definitely recommend checking your APN settings as @kimitza suggests.
This page should have everything you could need: http://ausdroid.net/apns/

I tried this ausdroid.net APN setting link, but it makes no difference at all.
Thanks anyway.
Hi,
French mobile operator http://mobile.free.fr/ activate 20go of data for 4G mobile only.
Sim card can detect if phone is 4G LTE ready or not.
Is it possible to create a patch and transform Note2 3G to Note2 LTE and fake sim card?
Thanks developers
No... Not really...
If the data is on a 4g lte network then im afraid you need a 4g phone to connect to a 4g network
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
No no,
There is only a limitation when smartphone was detected of a 4G ou 3G module.
A 4G phone can have 20gb data even if a force 3G connection.
I learn the network verify if there is a 4G phone with his IMEI.
So i must modify it in EFS with a 4G phone to test it
But il never see solutions for that.
I only see IMEI modifications for Galaxy S3 :/
Hi guys
coming from a sony Xperia, the signal icon shows the text "LTE" by the signal if im connected to LTE, or H+ or etc.. it was easy for me to tell what type of data network im using.
with my new G3 i'm confused. it seems to only show "H"
Will the G3 show the same "LTE" text whenever I'm connnected to LTE? If NOT, then how the heck can we tell if we're on an LTE connection or not?
and lastly, on my experia (4.2) there is a setting called " LTE (Preferred) / WCDMA/GSM) " .. this allows my xperia to connect to LTE first as long as there is signal even if the 3G signal is stronger in the area, which i found very convenient. On G3 (4.4) what i can see is GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. <-- is this the same as LTE preffered or is this listed by priority w/ LTE being the least (w/c is not what i wanted!)
regards
It stays on LTE even if it got poor signal, atleast for me. Btw, there should be 4G sign if it is on LTE networks.
Does your Xperia ____ work with different bands than LG G3? Have you checked that out? G3 may not have the LTE/4G capabilities where you live.
My D851 displays them all which my Xperia ZL did not. 4G LTE, 4G, 3G, 2G.
Alright guys, mine is showing 4G (no LTE word) but i guess that's that. Thanks very much

if it doesnt show the lte icon then you are not running lte. and even if you had the lte icon it could still be slow speeds. call t mobile and get yourself the lte booster for better reception and speeds
4g basically means LTE
Like this
