Unfortunately I can only confirm the same problem on my Note 2, can receive but cannot send emails through stock exchange email app. I just talked to my IT department from work and they don't know why the issue occurs.
Does anyone know the cure?
Also experiencing the same issue, both on Jedi Master X2 as well as stock TELUS 4.3. Odd issue considering AOSP 4.3/4.4 had no issues with ActiveSync e-mail. For now i'm just using K-9 with retrieval on manual, and just reply o the e-mail through that. Obviously this is less than ideal. Any ideas?
Hello. I have also encountered this issue with my Outlook.com email account following the 4.3 update. I can confirm that Sandesh's solution with replying to an invitation has solved the problem for me.

I have set up Exchange on my EVO and I am having an issue sending emails. Every time I try to send a new email, I got an error on the phone "Unable to send mail" and the email goes into the Outbox.
This is where it gets weird. The email does actually get sent, but it's sent 5 times. The really strange thing is that if I reply to an email I already have, it works fine with no errors. Everything else works perfect (Contacts, Calendar, polling, etc..)
I downloaded Moxier Mail to test that. Moixer mail sent the new emails with no issues so I think this has something to do with the HTC Mail app.
When I first got the phone this seemed to to work fine. I noticed this issue after I installed LockPicker. I uninstalled Lockpicker, but was still having a problem. With no other option, I did a hard reset and just setup exchange, but still got the error so I don't think lockpicker is the issue.
Any help would be awesome!
(By the way, I work for a company with 13,000 employees and they don't support Android so I can't do anything on that side)
Have you tried deleting the account from the HTC Mail App and then re-adding it? I've found every once in a while (when I was trying out the Eris) that it gets flaky and the easy fix is just to delete the account and re-add it.
Thank you for the suggestion, but I have tried that a couple times with no luck. As I mentioned, I even tried a hard reset and still got the error.
Is the email server actually an exchange server? Mine is a zimbra server and has a known issue with HTC exchange mail. This is being fixed in the 6.07 server update that rolls out in a couple weeks. Till then I've disabled email sync on the zimbra/exchange account and am using IMAP for email.

Since upgrading to jelly bean it seems my Gnex has stopped giving Email notifications despite it being turned on in each inbox' settings. This happens with all email accounts. They both receive Emails using push.
Anyone experienced this? Or can confirm that theirs run ok?
I have my Email app hooked up to an exchange account and its working fine. My GMail tags in the GMail app work fine too.
Have all of your general sync settings on too?

What other email app would you recommend similar to the stock email app? K9 email is way too complicated for me

Thanks. Really wish the damn default email client works Am using AquaMail. Seems ok so far.
Hey Buddy,
It probably isn't your email client, more than likely your settings. If your network is o2, go into your settings and change your SMTP settings to smtp.o2.co.uk and port 25. This should enable you to send email whilst on 3G at least. Ideally you can just add your network's smtp setting and have that as well as your email provider's too.

Thanks for your reply but it's weird that i can get go email, aqua mail and a couple more other email clients to work but not the stock mail. I've had a string of HTC phones and never had settings issues until now. I've tried port 25, 26 and 587. Tried with different security settings like SSL and stuff but still no go.
I'm guessing i'm the only one facing this problem
Another weird issue with the 4.3 upgrade I have is when sending an email through the stock email app (new, replies, or forwards), it never sends the email and just says "Retrieving account information..." Before the 4.3 upgrade, it worked fine. My company uses Zimbra. Checked all settings and it seems fine. This is with the stock email app. My coworker, who also has his Note 2 upgraded to 4.3 (also on Sprint) doesn't use the stock email app, but uses Touchdown and it is not affected and works fine with Touchdown. Before I do a data reset, has anyone figured this situation out?
My phone is stock and not rooted.
Update - For now I am using CloudMagic, which is a free email app, to send email. It's not bad works with Zimbra and EAS, and hey FREE. Will keep the stock app configured for now to at least read emails and to sync calendar and contacts, but will be using CloudMagic when I have to send email. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudmagic.mail&hl=en (no affiliation but it is a workaround)
Resolution
1) Ask any user to send you an appointment
2) You will get the appointment on your device, accept the appointment and it will send an email in the backend which resolved this issue.
Let me know if this helps.

I have the same device but on Verizion, I also use Zimbra to access corporate account, as well as have the same problem as the OP. I can also confirm that I can confirm that Sandesh's solution worked for me. I was close to doing a factory reset. This was the only thread that suggested this solution.
Thank you.

Hey sir,
Thanks for the solution. I canĀ“t see relation between sending the appointment to malfunctioning mail and unstucking the mail .. but it works.
So thanks!
When I "upgraded" my Note 2 to 4.3 my exchange mail stopped working properly using stock email app. Other people with 4.3 have no problem connecting to the same mail exchange with 4.3, so I am pretty sure it may be just my device.
What happens:I can receive email just fine, and calendar works and all that
What it doesn't do:I can't send any email from the account. When I select send it just says "receiving account information" and that's it.
Now when I am in my email account on the PC I have no issues sending or receiving. This makes me look at my phone. Moxier mail works just fine (send and receives), but it does force close several times a week. So my issue must be the native app.
What I have done:
Cleared cache
deleted account and re-establish account on device
install Moxier mail (that crashes)
Any ideas of what else I can do? I do prefer the stock app over Moxier.
I fixed it
Rather Kit Kat fixed it. Now that I am on 4.4.2 the stock email app works in exchange.
