Hi I've just bought one of these and will only charge my s3 to approx 80% . With my s3 battery being 2100mah it should charge it fully and have approx 1300mah left. Or am I missing something?

nope. EVERYONE with those battery cases are experiencing exactly what you are: no-one is figuring the loss of power from trying to charge a battery with a battery.
here is a test:
1.fully charge phone and case
2. kill phone
3. use case to recharge phone
4. kill phone
5. use case to recharge phone
6 repeat until the case no longer charges phone.
I bet it is just equalizing, not emptying the case (because that involves a "joule thief", and I am betting they did not bother with that circutry.) and you can kill the phone multiple times, getting less charge each time.

Your Cable (USB) is likely the culprit.
It's not giving out proper juice to the tablet (1800 mah) and hence taking so long.
Mine had similar issues and switching to another cable (thick wire and shorter in length, i think it's a nokia cable) and it gives 1800mah current constantly and charging times are around 2.5 - 3.5 hours depending on how depleted it is.
There is an app called galaxy charging current, that can tell you how much current you are getting from the charger.
Update:
If you feel battery constantly being drained
1: It could be Google Now location services.
2. Bad Corrupt media files (Bad Music: Id3 tags usually or at times bad frames) can cause media server to crash and keep trying causing drains. There are few tools that can check for bad audio files and fix the headers.
ok, so i just got the Galaxy Tab S, and a friend of mine, who has one, told me i need to let it drain before the first full charge.
idiot that i am i just ran with it without checking.
so now pretty much wherever i look i see ppl saying u should give a full charge first b4 any use.
hell it even says so in the quick start guide, but i was too excited to check
anyway i drained it and started a full recharge, but now i'm worried this back-asswards treatment might have done something to the battery.
should i be worried?
any possible effects on battery capacity, life, or charge speed?
BTW, i'm charging right now and the charge speed is INCREDIBLY slow (like only 50% OVERNIGHT!)
not using the official charger so i'm being optimistic and blaming that, but it's 5V 2A compared to the original's 5.3V 2A, which seems to me like it shouldn't be a problem,
but what do i know ?
TL;DR
went retard and drained my brand new Galaxy Tab S instead of giving a full first recharge, now worried about adverse effects to battery capacity, life, or charge speed
thanks !
A full charge is around 4+hrs for the 8.5" and 5+hrs for the 10.5" , only 50% in 7-8 hours is slow, the Tab S has detected that you are not using the Samsung charger and is slow charging your tablet.
The free app below will show you how fast you Tab S is charging, you have to keep pressing refresh on the free version, look at the average ma, not the maximum one as it only shows the maximum charge rate of you tablet.
My 10.5" charges at between 1500-1600mah, up to 80% after that the ma will keep reducing till the tablet hits 100% and stop charging.

EDIT: discharging to 0% every 6 months or so will help calibrate the battery gauge, but a few Tab S owners whose tablets battery accidentally went below 0% which can cause the battery low-voltage protection to kick in and disconnect the battery, which means you have to send it back to Samsung or an tablet/phone repair shop who can reset the battery protection.
John.
Hi Folks,
I have bought a new original battery for my Galaxy S2 SGH T989 since my old battery is not holding the charge and discharges quickly. The new battery came with 40% charge. I have inserted the battery, turned off the phone and plugged into the charger whole night to make it ready for use. At morning, I am surprised to see the charge animation logo is showing as it is charging from 40%. I turned the phone on and saw the battery percentage as 41.
I tried to charge with the phone turned ON. And I noticed that it just charges for 2 to 3 seconds and then stops charging. The charging animation of the battery runs for 2 to 3 seconds and then stops. Have tried with different chargers, cables, power banks but it behaves the same. At times it charges for sometime like 15 to 20 mins and then stops. Somehow I managed to charge it to 90% but its really tiring to always keep an eye on it.
I am not facing this issue with my old battery. The old battery charges well with all the cables and chargers I have. I am not sure where could be the problem. Please help.
When the phone was new i was getting 5-100% charge time of around 1h 15min with fast charge
Now,after half a year it says 1h 30min and its been like that after a half a month passed after i bought it
i always used samsun adaptive quick charger that they provided charger and cable
i rooted it back when i bought it and few days after flashed rom but that should not slow th charging down.
is this an isolated case or it happens?
tell me your experience and estimated time down below
thanks.
