Hi Folks,
I have bought a new original battery for my Galaxy S2 SGH T989 since my old battery is not holding the charge and discharges quickly. The new battery came with 40% charge. I have inserted the battery, turned off the phone and plugged into the charger whole night to make it ready for use. At morning, I am surprised to see the charge animation logo is showing as it is charging from 40%. I turned the phone on and saw the battery percentage as 41.
I tried to charge with the phone turned ON. And I noticed that it just charges for 2 to 3 seconds and then stops charging. The charging animation of the battery runs for 2 to 3 seconds and then stops. Have tried with different chargers, cables, power banks but it behaves the same. At times it charges for sometime like 15 to 20 mins and then stops. Somehow I managed to charge it to 90% but its really tiring to always keep an eye on it.
I am not facing this issue with my old battery. The old battery charges well with all the cables and chargers I have. I am not sure where could be the problem. Please help.

When I plug my phone in, it charges a little bit, but then just entirely stops and I start losing percentage pretty quick. It did it with my verizon car charger and it's doing it on my usb charger and the wall charger. My battery just lasted 24 hours with moderate use, and now it's not charging. I don't think it could be the battery because it lasted so long the day before.
As for the icon, instead of it going red, orange, green when charging, it's just flashing between the percentage and the single color corresponding to the percentage.
Using a different cord did not help. I just did a battery pull when it was at 17 percent, and now I put it back in and it's at 1%?
It's done it to a few different roms so it's not rom specific. The problem just started yesterday so it was pretty sudden. Battery is stock.
I turned the phone off when it was at 45% last night and plugged it in. When I woke up this morning it was at 22% so I actually lost charge when the phone was turned off and charging? What in the world?
I just restarted it again and it's at 7%.. Galaxy Nexus please hurry.

Sounds like battery is shot. Happened to me.
sent...ah whatever its on there now..
Maybe I can get by until the 10th on my inc1 batteries
My phone has recently started having charger issues. When I'm able to get it to charge it will fully charge the battery, but sometimes it will actually decrease in charge when on the charger. Just last night I had it on the charger while the phone was off and it was showing 100% charge but when I turned it on it actually only had a 2% charge.
I brought it to ATT today and they said it was the charger port by looking at the pin. I'm not fully convinced since I compared it to my friends s3 and it looks exactly the same.
Would anyone have any idea on what the problem might be?
Hi all, brand new but I've been a lurker of the Tmo s6 edge forums.
Anyway here's the predicament. I got my S6E yesterday set it up, used for the rest of the day with no qualms.
When I went to put it on the charger it was at 7%, i thought to myself, I'll use an Apple 5W charger for a slower charge throughout the night.
I figured the slower, low powered charge will be better for the battery.
As it was charging it stopped in the middle of the night at 20%. From there, the phone constantly went from Charging, not charing, charging, not charging; repeatedly until I woke up to discover it at 7:20AM. I plugged in the phone at 2:30AM. It must have been in this charging on/off loop since 2:45AM or so. The phone was pretty toasty. The screen was on and the phone kept making that noise when you connect/disconnect from the charger.
So my question. will 4ish hours of everything i just mentioned fry the battery?
Edit: By fry I mean significantly reduce the overall battery lifetime. The phone seems fully functional.
All that noise and you didn't wake up earlier?
No, I'm sure it'll be fine. I've used Blackberry and older, non-fastcharging Samsung chargers on mine.
Had the same issue on my S3, it's battery lasted four years (gave it to my brother as a gift).
If you really want to check what's happening, get a $5 USB current monitor plug in adapter on ebay. It shows what voltage it's outputting and the current. I noticed that my old AT&T Note 3 OEM charger's voltage was actually high at 6V or so. This is to charge the device faster, but it didn't work well with any other devices or even portable battery packs.
HI can anyone tell me if there is any way to resolve this. I think is has started since doing the upgrade to Android 10 earlier this week.
I normally put my phone onto the wireless charger before going to bed and I have noticed recently that when I grab it in the morning the battery percentage is sitting around the 90% mark. I initially thought the charger was not able to charge to 100% but on further examination I see that it indeed charged to 100% after I placed it on the charger and then the charging stopped and the phone ran on battery until I removed it in the morning.
I confirmed this this morning by replacing it on the charger and watching it charge (like watching paint dry ). The charger light was blue while charging, when the phone hit 100% the charger light turned to green but after about 30s it completely switched off and so too did the indication on the lock screen that a charger is connected. Removing and reseating the phone started charging again.
It definitely looks to be software related as I did not have this problem last week. I just wanted to ask if anyone here has noticed this and knows of any workaround?
For the record I am running fast wireless charging with the samsung wireless charger that came with my wifes S8, that charger works perfectly with my older Note8. I have also tried switching to normal wireless charging speed with no success.

Unplug the charger from its power source and plug it in again, causing it to 'reboot'. Let us know the results. Note, there is an option to set the wireless charging to NOT be fast during certain hours of the day. I set mine so it charges slowly while I am sleeping - to put less stress on the battery. Your charger may be a little old as well if you got it with a note 8 or S8 - ?

IMO this is a good feature to stop the wireless charger cooking your battery.
Maybe turn down your AOD brightness or something, to use 10% within a couple of hours of being idle is pretty high. Maybe turning off fast wireless charging would extend the charge time so it finishes nearer to when you wake up could help too.
Thanks for the feedback however it does sound like workarounds for an issue that should not be present (apart from rebooting the charger which I will try when I get home).
For me wireless charging should act just like wired charging in that when it reaches 100% the phone should essentially run off the charger now and not use battery at all. Every other phone with wireless charging that I have had worked that way, this is just plain stupid.
Willhemmens its not a couple hours, looking at the battery graph if I go to bed at 10pm and put the phone on the charger it pretty much hits 100% around 11:30 and then is at 90% at 7am, so it is 10% over 7 hours which is ok in my books, but reality is that during this time the phone has another source of power that it can and should use. It did before I applied the Android 10 update.
I have had this issue every now and again, and I found that rebooting it takes care of the issue.
An update. This morning I tried my wife's wireless charger and when the phone reaches 100% it continues to show the charge icon. Put my wife's note 8 into the wireless charger and it exhibited my problem.
So it looks like this is a problem with the wireless charger and not the phone.
Thanks for the answers guys I am of to try buy a new wireless charger
edit - New charger solved the problem.
Hi,
I'll have rooted Galaxy tab 3 8.0 and since it's old it has been mostly only on light use with org rom for couple of years now. Org battery was going down, sudden shutdowns on heavy use and didn't have a juice anymore so I decided to order new battery. While I was waithing new battery to arrive I didn't use that tab and I forgot it to a freezing work car with power on so that tab/old battery froze and tab shutdown. Problem is that it won't charge or start anymore with new or with old battery. Not with any button combination or not with any cord or charger or pc, not with cold battery or not with warm battery. I also used multimeter to check that there is enough voltage in new batt to start. It just doesn't do anything. No light, no charging icon on screen, nothing. So is that galaxy tab just froze to death(was max - 10'c) or is there any other ways to try to recalibrate/reset power circuit on tab so it starts to understand again when there's battery or charging cable on? Now it's just stupid thing that doesn't seem to understant that there's battery inside and power cord plugged in.
What if it's not only the battery that got damaged? I bet there's more, that's why new battery does not help.
