ok, over the last week or so ive had this issue, gradually getting worse...
my battery will charge to around 40-45% and then charging will slow right down.
two hours later, it will be on around 50% if im lucky, and about 3 more further hours before i hit 60% (this is some of the time, other times, it just remains on its current charge%)
if i leave it overnight for about 10hours or so, highest it goes to now is about 73%, but this is rare, usually 45-50%ish.
ive tested with htc ac wall charger, htc usb, blackberry charger, car charger and a random microusb wallcharger. all have same issue.
when tested with two friends desire hd's on different days, my battery charged perfectly, and at the normal gradient speed over the % range. and my phone reads it correctly at the 100%-98% when back in my phone after change back.
i thought it was down to my phone, just dont know if its rom or hardware. shud i factory restore, or claim on insurance?
i have another issue here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18480603&posted=1#post18480603
which also applies to the question of restore or insurance...
thanks
What Rom are you using, i am using runny 2.2 only 62% charge in 6 hours
9 hours later on battery only upto 68% i have amazing battery life now
i'm using runny 2.2.....left it on charge for 2 hours with phone on, but wifi and everything off and it had only gone up 2% ! !
Turned phone off and plugged in charger, 30 mins later, only went up 1% ! !
72% charge at this point.
So took it off charge, put it in my pocket, went upstairs to bed, turned it on to set alarm and it said 100% on battery....weird!!
matt
Lol this is an issue with calibration. The battery is charging but the software doesnt report it.
You have to charge the phone for as long as possible so you know it is on 100% whether the software says it or not, go into CWM, wipe the battery stats and then let the battery drain fully until it shuts down by itself. Then plug it in and leave it until you know for certain it is at 100%. If the green light comes on leave it for an additional half an hour. Then it will be fixed.
ive only recently got this handset, as last one was replaced on insurance a month or so ago, and its runuing on stock rom with latest updates....?
It takes mine ages. I can leave it plugged in for hours and it only charges a bit. Right now Battery Monitor widget estimates 8 hours on "AC" and 12 hours on "USB" for a 100% charge - 3/4 hours from 64%. That's slow, no?
I only get +2-400mA (341mA right now, sometimes less, or more) when plugged into my 5v-1A AC charger. How about you guys?
Any one else got charge times from a program like Battery Monitor Widget?
Takes about 4 hours from 1% to 100%
my HOX is charging.. i plug it at 9% 1 hour and 40 minute ago.. its 71% now..

That's very very slow. Check your cables, are they frayed? Cos I'm currently using the cable that came with my Desire Z and it's starting to fray pretty bad, and I'm only getting about 300-400mAh charge in. Used to charge at around 750+. I switched USB Cables (same charger, just different cables) and my charge rate jumped back to 750. Do note that charge rate slows down the closer it gets to 100%.
Mine took almost 3hrs for 0 to 100% charge.
3-4 hours from 5% to 100%
On the USB in college I get 20% is 2 hours lol on charger about 3 hours.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
That's weird then. Maybe I should buy a new cable. Do most of you get 700mA+ readings when charging?
The cable is very new, but I did get it from a shady seller - maybe it has a problem. I will get a new USB cable this evening.
It COULD be the problem? That's only from my own testing though. Try it with a friend's cable or something. Nokia and Samsung phones use the same Micro USB to charge.
Mine will go from 2% to 100% in 3 hour 5 min with an USB charger of 1.5A output.

Unfortunately the HOX is limited to a 1A input charge /:
i'm at my wits end, i bought an HTC one X today, and plugged it to the charger cos it was 7% of energy, it's been off for 3 hours and i turn it on and it says 8%, i'm using the cable and the charger that came with the cellphone, what could i do?, i even got a message while running the setup procedure that the phone consumes more energy than what it receives via AC, what to do? i'm worried

You've got a misbehaving app somewhere. Restart your phone and try again.
with the original charger and cable, it takes me roughly 3 hrs to fully charge my one X from 10%~ to 100%
with the cheap cable I bought and the Iphone charger, it takes me 4 hrs to charge from 9% to 90% ~ about 5 hrs to fully charge ~
I don't use my laptop's usb to charge, and I believe it will take much longer ~
With the official HTC cable that came in the box its taken me 3 hours to charge about 40%. Please someone tell me this is faulty.
Also the battery has never lasted more than 2hours 20 mins on screen with medium/heavy usage. and no more than 1 hour 30 with heavy usage (HD Video/streaming)
ALso when i unplug the charger at 100% it drops down to 90% within 10 minutes and then continues to plummet. I got around 6hours off screen time with music playing before it died.
Anyone have this issue?

The same thing happened to me today. I've noticed charging from a computer's USB gives a higher charge amperage.
I just ordered a 2A USB charger, but I also found that if I power off the phone and charge it, it charges very quickly.

That sounds like a serious problem. I would send it back. Although, you should poke around and see what's consuming all the energy.
Charging times without looking at the battery monitoring application reporting where energy is spent does not help much to understand where the problem is.
If the phone is really idle with good GSM coverage, no particular GSM activity and Wifi switched off, then more than 2 or 3 hours either shows that the charger isn't powerful enough (could happen with a car cigarette-lighter->USB charger or any charger that delivers less than 1A/H), or a faulty charger or battery.
If one has good charging times when the phone is switched off, then the problem is more likely related to the software running in the phone, fiddling with the phone while it's charging (keeping the screen on) or because of RF activity (GSM, Wifi).
So first switch the phone off, charge it at 100%, look at the time it took and if it's okay then look at the battery monitoring app to understand where energy is spent when the HOX is turned on...
what apps or widget do u guys use to see how much current(mA) is being charge to the phone?
hi all
mine charges from 25% to full in a little over 2 hrs
thats with the htc charger that came with it an the usb supplied by htc .... i have other leads that i used with my old deisre (non htc) and i gfet a very slow charge time .... i have got from ebay som high quality leads (if 2.99 post free is high quality) and they charge quickly so id say the onex is quite fussy over what leads you use to charge it
mind you im loving the phone have rooted mine and have the leedriod rom which is awsome

Hello,
So I was at about 10% when I went to bed last night (around 11 PM). I plugged my phone into an outlet charger (the one that came with my old Nexus 4, not the one in the G3 box) and when I woke up (645 AM) the phone was only at 65% charged? I can't imagine that it would take over 7 hours to do a complete charge. Has anyone else experienced this? The only thing I can think of is that my old charger produces less output than the one in the box, but I haven't tested it out yet.
Lou
Try it again with the actual g3 charger so you can know for sure if it's a phone issue or a charger issue.

Over the past few weeks I have been testing all kinds of chargers and cables. I noticed that the G2 charger is the closest to G3 but not as good. The issue is the cable itself. Kopi 20awg with oem charger, g2 will work, charges at the same speed as the original one.

Did your phone stop charging in the middle of the night? That happened to mine on the first night when I used an old iPhone (1000mA) charger. It just quit somewhere in the 60% range. Switching to a higher powered charger (iPad - 2100mA) it charges very quickly. On my desktop at work, the USB3 port I have charges at an abysmally slow rate (prob 500mA or less, and in a lousy reception area so it's burning 100-200 of that just keeping the network alive).
The boxed charger, btw, is 1800mA.
Thanks for the responses. I will try the charger that came with the device overnight tonight and report back in case anyone else has similar issues.

The phone/battery are literally 2 days old. Can't imagine it's the battery already. I will do some more troubleshooting since is obviously not a common occurrence.
Strange

try wiping battery in cwm if helps, and install super charge as some custom build roms are buggy.
My Xperia ZL wouldn't charging from getting too hot in the middle of the night. I would wake up to a very low battery. Between the screen waking up, trying to find a signal, and covering it with my pillow it would get too hot. Haven't had the issue with the G3 yet but I have woken up to the screen on and that stupid battery fully charged message.

my scren doesnt stay on when battery is full. it will light up for a brief period of time and then turns off. the green led stays on.
The nexus 4 charger is probably rated at a much lower amperage 1.2A actually https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_4_Power_Adapter?id=nexus_4_charger&hl=en
However your cable will also play a big role in this. The rating on the cable will determine whether or not it will actually allow that much current to pass through it. The stock charger works great, it chargers in less than 2 hours from 0 to 100%. I only use my nexus 7 charger to charge my spare battery on its cradle which is no big deal because it doesn't need to be fast.
Mine takes about 2 hours and 20 min for 0 to 100%
That charger may also be sending dirtier power because it's older too. I'm amazed at how fast mine charges. I haven't timed it, but it has to charge over 35% in an hour if you start at around 20%. Hell, I have started wirelessly charging with a Powerbot (connected to official charger) at about 15% at night and woken up a few hours later and checked the time and the thing was at 100%.
RESOLVED
OK, this is resolved, seems like the issue was in fact the charger I was using. I used the one that came with the unit and it charged up no problem. At least that issue is solved in case anyone else runs into. Thanks everyone.
Hi
I've got a brand new htc M8 and enjoying it immensely, but there's one thing that's worrying me. My first three or four charges were very quick--an hour or so from 60-65% but over the last few days charging has become an ordeal. I've read numerous forums and tried a number of techniques, most recently discharging to 10% then recharging (which took nearly 9 hours). I went out this morning and returned with 85% remaining. Plugged it in and Dashclock forecast three hours and twenty minutes to regain that 15%.
I'm using the charger provided, but have tried a number of others as well.Any other ideas out there?

if u have samsung lg or any original charger in ur house test it i normally have 1:50 or 2hr for fully charged
change ur USB CABLE
FIRST THING TO DO IS
CHANGE UR USB CABLE IF IT DINT FIX
SECOND THING IS CHANGE THE CHARGER AND USE ORIGINAL CHARGER FROM ANY MANUFACTURER
IF AFTER THAT UR GETTING SAME TIME CHARGING ITS UR PHONE MATER NOT CHARGER
Do you have fast boot enabled?
If so disable that, then power off the phone for a few minutes then power it back on and try to charge.
My neighbor had fastboot enabled on his and performance and battery life always sucked.. after disabling that he saw a lot better results.
Is your phone being used while charging? Is it getting hot while charging?

But be careful when comparing charge rates, as the current drawn reduces as the battery becomes more charged.

Yes, but a bad cable or charger would be very low. Far lower than the norm. ?
The stock m8 charger is a 1.5 amp charger if your using a normal .5 - 1amp you'll notice a slow charge
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Hi all, so I know there have been talks before about the battery on the G3 but since not all issues are the same I decided to ask anyway in hope that someone could assist me in some way to figure out what the issue is.
TL : DR:
Got LG G3 (Stock ROM: Lollipop 5.0), let battery run flat, started charging it through the mains, woke up next day to it taking 6 hours to get to 100%, using charger that came with it (5.0v 1.8A UK mains charger, model: MCS-04UR).
So I just got the LG G3 as my old phone was a pile of rubbish these days (Huawei Y530) and so far I'm EXTREMELY happy with it, I needed it mainly for VR since I do YouTube and have been getting asked to do VR Videos so after looking around I found the G3 which was in my price range and grabbed it.
But here is where the issue starts, the battery ran flat so I plugged it into the 5.0v 1.8A UK mains charger that came with it (model: MCS-04UR) and after a few minutes it came up with an estimated time till full charge, of course I was shocked at the 19hr+ estimate but figured this would likely go down after I turned the screen off and just left it alone as I wouldn't be using it for anything other then push notifications over WiFi, about 4 hours later I needed to use the phone again so I unlocked it and saw that it was going to 7hr+ hours and was only at 32% after 4hours: imgur.com/XjPqu4X
So I left it on my desk and went to bed but when I woke up I saw that it was still charging and was only around 90%, so I left it alone until it was 100% and then checked the battery usage meter to see how long it had taken, this was the result: imgur.com/LBj3L2m
As you can see it had a bit of usage for a couple of hours which im guessing was maybe updates or something but even with taking into account it took a long time to get to full charge, I was under the impression that "Quick Charge" was meant to be quick and would get you around 50% within 30 minutes but that just doesn't seem to be the case with me, does anyone have any idea why this is.
I also did another test the next time the batter went dead this time charging with the phone off and once again connected to the mains charger, from 0% to 100% it took 6 hours 9 minutes, with it taking around 3 hours to get to 80% and 4 hours 20 to get to 90%.
After it had fully charged I turned it on to see what the estimate time remaining before it would die again was and it said 2 hours, this surely can't be normal...I mean I get that smartphones use a lot of power these days but this is a 3000mAh battery, I must be right in thinking it shouldn't take over 6hrs to fully charge and only last around 2hours if the screen was left on at lowest brightness.
Worth noting that this a second hand phone from a trade-in store.
•Phone: LG G3 D855
•OS: Android 5.0
•Kernel version: 3.4.0
•Software Version: V21a-EUR-XX
(No SIM Card in it yet as wanted to give it a good test before transferring over all my contacts and such)
These are the charger and cable I got with the phone, im assuming that they are default.
•Charger: imgur.com/TWHzXsD
•Cable: imgur.com/2naIYdT
Does nobody have a solution for this issue or have an idea of what might be causing it?
I would prefer to try any solutions that might be out there before taking it back to the store.
