that new Edge looks sick... now the ZETA!... come on... sprint better pick up something or im' jumping ship!
plus lte for Verizon, my buddy's getting like 16-18mb down!..something nuts
This is just my hunch, but I would expect the current generation (SGSII, Photon, Evo3D) is the last set of high end new phones we'll see on Sprint until the LTE network is ready. Those phones are still competitive with the best out there, with the Galaxy Nexus being the exception. The 3 flagships they have right now will last long enough to tide them over until the summer when they start introducing LTE devices. I certainly could be wrong, but I don't think it'd make a lot of sense to invest in developing and marketing new WiMax phones at this point (unless they're dual-mode WiMax/LTE).
I agree with the last post. The nexus galaxy and the droid razor beat the EVO but not enough for me to spend $300 on.
I moved this spring out of Sprint coverage and have been using my EVO on prepaid carriers waiting for Verizon or ATT to come out with something worth signing a contact for.

The EVO was a huge thing for Sprint, so I have to imagine they want to capitalize on the good will they earned with a lot of customers who probably signed up for 2 year contracts. Expect something big on the Sprint network around June/July this year. Likely with the EVO branding.
If there is a proper "EVO 2" type device around the time my contract ends, I almost want to buy it without even knowing the specs.
Hello all,
I had a T-Mobile T989 (Galaxy SII) that I bought nearly a year ago and now I am wanting to upgrade to the Galaxy Note II but I have a concerns about upgrading.
The Galaxy Note 2 is large too most people. And this following question is for men only (sorry female community). I am 6'3" and weigh nearly 200 lbs and I have large hands. Is this device too large to fit into hands and pockets? I have deep pockets (not figuratively) and I don't want a $700 device hanging out of my pocket.
Next Question:
Is $570.00 too much to pay for an early upgrading price? I just added a new line to my plan about a week ago so my contract is still viable for another 2 years so if I do this it will renew the 2 year status. Is this bad or good pricing in comparison to full retail prices?
Last Question:
I love XDA Development of custom ROMS. Will this device see a lot of custom roms such as AOKP and Cyanogenmod? Is the hardware in this different than the ATT, Sprint, Verizon, International variants? (Besides radios for the bands they run on?)
Thanks in advance,
Hunter

I would wait till Black Friday. Price might be lot cheaper by then. It's only month away but that's if you can wait that long.

im 5'6.5 and 130 pounds and i wore skinny jeans with deep pockets and had no problem, the phone is a little wide though since im used to the tiny iphone 4
Well I went pass a kiosk just to browse and ask some questions about the lte and he noticed I had a note 2, and this is what he said "did you know sprint was the only carrier to get the quad core note 2, the other carriers couldn't handle it" I literally felt the brain cell fall out of my head and that's sad considering I was a former rep, please tell this guy was just full of it and my lost brain cell is valid

maybe he mixed up various bits of info about the note 2, us s3 and international s3.
Mistakes happen.

I've had similar experiences with Sprint kiosk reps. He said my Epic 4g Touch was restarting because it had a single core processor and it was overloaded
Really it was because of the awful ICS upgrade that Sprint rolled out..
i hope you picked that brain cell....you may end up needing it later....
Pointless thread is pointless.

So it has confirmed the Note 2 is skipping the 4.2.2 update and skipping to the 4.3 update (Source). But the update is rumoured to be releasing around Q3/Q4... The Note 3 on the other hand will be announced this September, and may be released around November just like the Note 2... The Note 3 is said to come with 4.3
I think I will be getting the Note 3, with the new hardware specs and all, but I may stick with my note 2... what do you think?
I'll get whatever is new at the time of my upgrade

If Samsung keeps up the locked boot and other bs I'm gone. The s4 had a work around but its the idea I don't like. Most likely Sony or nexus from now on

I'll wait for initial release. ..then track the development progress along with user reports. ..then make my choice. .
But I will likely stay with Samsung. ..g

I'm going to wait for the Note III - and talk AT&T into letting me have an early upgrade again.
Why not both?

Doesn't really matter. They're doing what they feel they need to do. These devices were not made to be tampered with like we do. So honestly I can't blame them. With the amazing developers on this site there will always be a workaround. And Samsung is a rock solid manufacturer of smart phones. I ain't goin anywhere

ATT let me upgrade every iPhone on a yearly basis. Until the iPhone 5 came around and I wanted to jump ship to the Note 2. They just suddenly changed.
I spent 6 hours on the phone, multiple days, trying to get them to give me the note Note 2. Some of the people were just outright nasty too. Claiming I never did such a thing with the iPhones.
So when the Note 3 comes out I'm filing with the BBB, getting out of my contract, jumping over to Tmobile.
Contact the bbb because they wont upgrade u? Haha

You serious dude? Because u won't get an early upgrade like you used to? Go for it man, your complaint won't do anything.. Unless you lie about it. You agreed to the contract so ride it out.

For terrible service. I live in rural NY, but a popular one at that. I follow ATT's stupid cell tower news, and they can add towers in my area until the cows come home - but its always spotty.
My coworker just switched from ATT to Verizon doing the same exact thing after I recommended it to him. He filed a complaint, ATT called him the next day, the following day he sent his phone back and went to Verizon for his new contract, and the next day he was sitting next to me with a brand new S4.
Three days flat.
The only reason I recommended the idea was because a friend had done it to switch from Sprint to Tmobile after his screen broke.
Even if I need to lie about it to really drive home the point of the terrible service they've given me and my family for over 6 years on separate accounts, I could care less. According to ATT, I already am a liar anyway.

Well I personally was nowhere near as phone dependent as I was 3 years ago that's for sure. With new work and having to need constant phone service and email access to be on the ball, it wasn't as bad.
And now TMobile is offering all these great plans at such low prices. And even an insurance plan that lets you upgrade not once, but TWICE every year. I could never see myself upgrading twice, but I'm a hardware sleuth so I like the yearly and am willing to pay if thats what it takes.
After doing the math out, for me and several family members to switch, it would be almost $20 a month cheaper on Tmobile even with that insurance plan for me.
So lower cost, plus better service in my area, plus the upgrade insurance plan looks pretty damn sweet. I'd say anything to get out of the ATT contract to be honest. And again, they already called me a liar anywho. -.-

Haha alright. We'll see. Its not like I just told you it worked for two other people and there are basically articles about it too. With comments

More than 90% of the complaints get solved. Especially when it costs $500+ for a cell phone provider to dispute a BBB claim.
I mean, you did after all tell me they will laugh me off the phone when you in fact submit claims online But hey, what do I care if you believe me or not.

Yes, they're going to spend $500 to dispute a customer who is going to leave them anyway when they could just let said customer go, get his phone back, refurb the phone, and sell out another contract without losing a dime or time. In fact, they make double with the refurb phone technically. Resolving the dispute all together too.
EDIT:
I mean if you honestly think this is the first time people have done this successfully, and you're going to argue it like it is, then you need to reevaluate some of your logic
My next phone (in about a year and a half) will almost definitely be a Sony or Nexus.
I have had 3 Samsung smart phones and before that 2 Samsung, 2 Motorola, 1 Sony Ericson (sp?) and of course the venerable Nokia back in the day.
