What rom are you using? - LG Optimus G (International)

Guys, Im just a newbie here and I would like to ask the community on what rom are you all currently using. I just want to know if there are any roms out there that are stable and well optimized a rom that will not cause any kernel crashes or any sort of those issues. Since I had a previous bad experience with paranoid android where it caused alot of kernel crashes which ended in a bootloop. Any suggestions will be appreciated thanks !

Only suggestion you will get is to try them all and stick with the one you like. It's a matter of taste. I recommend to mod stock rom with xposed framework and stick with it. No custom rom made of scratch will be better than an optimized software.

Stock rom is probably your best option. You could use Epsilon rom, which has some extra goodies added to the stock rom. But if you want to try something else I would suggest LiquidSmooth - it's really fast and has quite a neat line-up of customization options.

LiquidSmooth and Vanir ROM. Try the latest builds. Quite fast, not as stable as Stock, but really great to use.

+1 for Vanir.

Yeah Vanir is great, but i must say that CM10.2 RC1 is also good.

i am running CM11 (cm-11-20140114-NIGHTLY-e975.zip) with Loller79's Solid Kernel v0.5B2 and it runs really really well but i need to charge it once a day because no matter what i do it just keeps using power even with Qualcomm's SnapDragon BatteryGuru running
other then that it runs perfect no issues at all

I might have used it except the notification bar was unusably vandalized and unreadable with animated gif... I could have set fastboot=1 or replaced bootanimation, but i liked 99% of the SystemUI. Everything else about it was wonderful.. kernel, optimized, lots of good stuff (well boot animation a little over the top) but SystemUI was unusable like that.
When I first got my s3 I waited about a month before I rooted. I got used to the stock experience. Couldn't believe how clunky and slow the stock experience on the s3 was after I finally got it rooted! The first ROM I flashed was Casper's 9/20 AOKP build. Definitely butter for sure!
Just flashed the newly released build 3 AOKP...kernel is included. I've tried almost every other ROM and I keep going back to AOKP. CM10 is about the only one I haven't tried yet.

New S3 user with some questions about ROMs out there

Hi all,
This is my first venture into Android and I must say, I these are incredible phones, and I am very excited for the future of mobiles again!
I've tested out a few ROMs so far, and while the ASOK and cyanogen mods are more my thing, the ROMS out for them are not (still buggy as a daily driver for me)
On the other hand the stock rom for this phone is awesome. All functions are working fine and I haven't had one hiccup yet.
Anyone know another ROM that is as stable and possibly in JB. If not on JB but a batter rom that I stock which is still on ICS?
Thanks for your help!

CM10 Monthly builds are also quite stable. I've been using it for 2 months now. Also if you like the look of TouchWiz and want to stay on it but remove the Samsung bloatware, you could use the debloater tool or use Titanium Backup to freeze system apps

If you go with CM10, then you'll lose the stock camera app. I miss that app. The gyroscope features and floating video will be gone.
I haven't really tried the touchwiz based roms or AOKP.

I put on the second milestone CM10 from a week ago. Seemed had some microphone issues. Also on some apps couldn't do voice note feature which was a deal breaker for me.
Overall all features which work in regular build of android should work on my phone as well.

were you trying the latest ROMs with the 3.4 kernel or the previous 3.0 kernel releases? if you are flashing the most recent ones with the 3.4 kernel, this could be the source of your issues as they are having some stability issues atm.

Elementalx (lovin the S2W/S)
Rom Deb
I´m running Carbon-Rom atm as its the only featured Rom for the Nexus 7 deb (LTE Version).
As soon as PACman Rom will be fully working, i will use it (or paranoidandroid).
I was pretty happy with stock rom and kernel rooted, but now flashed Carbon and a custom rom to test. Just a few tweaks I need like expanded desktop mode, lowering the size of the nav bar, themes etc and Carbon offer me all this so happy with my set up for the time being.

Franco or ElementalX Kernel?

I've heard a lot of good things about both, I'm just wondering which one is the more "popular" one to say. I've been using ElementalX for a month now, and it works pretty good overclocked to 1.8Ghz.
I don't really use touchwake that much, so it's not a deal breaker. Since I hear a lot about Franco, what's so good about it?

They are both great kernels made by respected devs. I use ElementalX but I suggest to give them each a try and see for yourself.
Sent from my Nexus 7 Flo running Odex SinLess ROM 4.4.2 with ElementalX kernel using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I tried Franco and thought it was slower than ElementalX. Have it over clocked slightly more at 1.8Ghz, but I don't think it makes the difference. ElementalX has made me happy, so I'll keep it.
Sent from my Nexus 7
At the moment ElementalX is the best kernel and I can recommend using it because of it's great stability, performance and variety of customisations.
Does anyone know if there are known issues that are causing bootloops? I have a 2013 N7 running on CM 10.2 and I flashed both Glitch and ElementalX kernels and both gave me bootloops

You want to make sure you are using the proper kernel. The most recent ones are for 4.4.2 but you're running 4.3 JB. Other than that, make sure your ROM is AOSP based and it should work. This is not withstanding some CM 11 builds.

Thanks for the answer. I also tried Franco kernel and I was able to get the lock screen but all the colors seemed to be negative. Perhaps is a GPU issue. I get a totally cyan screen when the CM Boot animation appears. Also with Franco kernel it said: com.phone.android has stopped, I wasn't able to get out of the lock screen. Ill try with another ROM like AOKP, Carbon, Omni or PA
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Are both of these kernels compactor with CM11.
I used to use Franco kernel exclusively on my N4, but the CM team changed something (related to colour?) that made it incompatible.
Also, do they both support usb-otg so I can mount my USB stick?
