Alrighty, this has been a struggle since yesterday.
I recently switched back to KitKat 4.4 now that there is some stable ROMs, and discovered ViPER4Android. Amazing sound processing program, really enjoy playing with everything.
However, I can only get it to work SOME of the time. CM11 was the only ROM that it worked on every once and awhile (3 or 4 reboots and it would work for 2 songs, then quit). I've tried it on Gummy Kit Kat today and I am still unable to get it to show Processing: Yes. The official thread claims support for KitKat in the downloads, however it seems to be quite the opposite.. I'm flashing TikTak ROM as we speak, but if anyone has a fix that would be great. I've tried the following
Editing Build.prop
Placing Viper4Android on the System, and giving it the proper permissions
Uninstalling DSP Manager (CM11)
Tried Google Play Music & Apollo
None of these seem to make a difference.

Hi, I've looked around quite a lot and I can't seem to find a thread that answers my question or even one that has the same issue.
Basically, I want to install the PACman rom with JB 4.2.2. I can get that working pretty well by itself, but the issue comes in when I try to install gapps. I've tried several different versions of gapps and every time, the second the phone boots up it says gapps has crashed. And it continues to pop up. The Play store crashes as soon as it opens, Gmail crashes. the Browser doesn't crash, except on download. And with certain versions of gapps, the Android Keyboard will not run (it crashes before it even opens every single time).
I've found other threads that talk about similar issues with the Galaxy S3 that tell me to go into Settings>Apps>All and enable Download Manager. I can't find that anywhere (which might be the real root of the issue I suppose). I see lots of other activities, all of which are enabled, but no Download Manager or even anything that really sounds like it could be a renamed Download Manager. I've hit the "Restore App Preferences" button too. No good.
I've deleted everything, wiped all possible caches, and repeated the process about 15 times. I've used different orders of doing things (that I find on different forum posts), and different versions of both gapps and PACman. I don't want to go below v20, I don't think, v20.1 doesn't work because WIFI doesn't work (known bug) and I can't find anything higher than that even though I believe v22 is the latest.
I have installed custom roms before. I'm currently using AOKP 4.1.2 and everything works fine with that.
Any help fixing this issue or any alternative suggestion that gives me jb 4.2 would be GREATLY appreciated. I am going for a daily driver rom, not something experimental and (overly) buggy.
THANKS!
PAC 20 is 4.2, did u manage to flash with gapp 4.2 ?

I tried that yes. Though all the PACman stuff says to use 4.1 and it'll work fine. I tried both. Though 4.1 seemed to work "better" than 4.2. As in the keyboard worked.
I think I fixed it
Pretty sure I fixed it. The issue seems to have been that PACman didn't come with DownloadManager.apk ..... Not sure why or if I just happened to download from a bad source, but in any case, that would certainly prevent gapps from downloading things.
So I edited the rom, added DownloadManager.apk from another rom I have on my computer and flashed that with the 4.2.2 gapps. Seems to work great so far!!!!
I am running JediMindTrick 8 on my T989.
It comes with Viper4Android 2.3.1.1 but I would like to update to 2.3.2.0.
I downloaded the 2.3.2.0 apk and installed. Everything looked good.
After opening the app, it downloaded and installed drivers with no errors but the driver status shows version 0.0.0.0.
After uninstalling the update, Viper4Android shows the driver 2.3.1.1.
I am updating in what might be a goose chase of fixing video calls in Hangout. Hangout is crashing, the stack trace shows it is crashing within audioEffect and I read that Viper4Android 2.3.1.1 can cause issues with Hangout.
I would have posted this to the Jedi Mind Trick JB 8 thread but I am not allowed yet. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818305)

I got the same issue yesterday on a different ROM (Hellkat), turned out I was using the wrong version of Viper.
Did you try the 2.3.2.2 FX version from the official thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
That one worked fine for me.
My ROM didn't come with Viper pre-installed though and can't remember from when I was on Jedi if it was installed as a system app, but if it is, maybe try to disable it, reboot, then update to 2.3.2.2.
Good luck.
I have tried several AOSP roms and have not gotten Netflix to work on any of them. I have tried liquidsmooth and PacRom but I keep getting Error (-9). Does anyone know of a fix for this? Please help..Thanks.

Using SELinuxModeChanger app, you can set to permissive and give it a go, it sometimes work.
Another method is to delete a lib file within
/system/vendor/lib
Liboemcrypto.so, you can rename or simply delete, then reboot the device.

I personally didn't have luck with the permissive change and couldn't find the liboemcrypto.so file you spoke of. Is that specific to the Galaxy Note 4?
No sir, most ROMs don't have the lib, and what ROM are you using ?
Using liquid smooth on a moto xt926. I've noticed this problem on various cm12 ROMs I've tried. They had Netflix running for a while then it kind of stopped for recently then I think the last one I tried that I worked on was bliss pop 3.2. Jump over to liquid smooth because. Was pretty laggy and causing me a little pain. Back to a loading screen. Never comes up. I will say I thought it was a host file or ad block problem because I could get it going on WiFi. Just not on cellular data.
Think pulling and using the apk from a nexus device would change anything?
Beats me, I think that it probably is not an issue with the apk itself.
My best guess is that it is ROM related. Didn't cm ROMs have some DRM related issues a year or so ago? Wouldn't surprise me if it's something along those lines.
BTW, forgot to mention that you can't even get to netflix.com and browser. just more thoughts as to why I don't think it's actual program related it something in the ROM.
It is ROM/Kernel related for the Note 4 before I think @Mod57 fixed it but all it was is to change a build.prop line. Try and see if this works for you as well.
persist.hwc.mdpcomp.enable=false
If the value is already there and it says True, change it to false.
Did this on a previous build (cm12 5-8-2015 I believe), seems to work although more testing is needed to determine consistency. Failed first time worked second.
Sure hope that's it....!
Has anyone had better luck finding a solution for this? I came from DU's latest and now on CM12.1 6/25 nightly, everything is working great except for Netflix. I was never able to get it to work in DU so I won't be terribly heartbroken if I can't get it fixed, but I do not have Lyboemcrypto.so file or that specific persist line in my build.prop. Any other suggestions? I was getting a -504 error when attempting to install a couple apps, turning flight mode on/off took care of that, so I tried that as well as wifi on and off both for Netflix but cannot get it to initialize, all I get is the constant red spinning circle of the first screen. Thanks
Workaround
Install the module xposed cm10.1 Netflix workaround under xposed framework. Works perfectly on t0lte.
Edit: working on cm12.1

Hello.
after successfully rooting my G4 and installing busybox.. I have also installed V4A. however, after installing the drivers, I can't get them to actually work.. (driver status shows unsupported and abnormal.)
anyone knows if V4A works with the G4? and if so, how did you get it to work?
thanks!

You need to set kernel to permissive. Selinux switcher apps will correct your issue.
I set to permissive installed v4a of viper and used awesome player instead of nu player. Yet changing eq doesnt do anything

TUrn off any EQs that you may have on in your music player.
And if you go into the settings menu > Driver status > What do you see here?
After setting to permissive you should get a different message at the bottom when you access V4A compared to when you didn't have it (If you kept note)
Here is a great guide how to make it work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/to-root-apps-t3165390/post62107040#post62107040
In addition to the above, I had to force enable V4A and switch to FX compatible mode to get Spotify to work. My other apps worked without those changes.
About gave up for months, then it clicked in my mind when i saw a post mention to make sure all other audio apps redirect eq to viper, and if not, change them. Even if you dont use a certain audio player app, change it too.
Problem is, i could not get the lg music app (which i never use) to change the equalizer to viper, it just had it's own default settings, so i ignored it. So i decided to revisit the lg app, and froze the app with link2sd, i also froze the lg video app too, just in case. Rebooted and now viper sees NEON and i can even run without compatibility mode (which did not work consistantly for me) .
I tried all steps to get this to work, not sure what other things are needed for everyone else, but i tried moving viper to system, installed selinuxmodechanger, maybe this can be uninstalled now, i have no idea. I have no plans to fix what isnt broken and find out myself, so just try freezing lg music app for starters.
Hope it works for you, if so, let the community know what steps you had to do!
Hi folks, I'm keen to stay on stock rom for the time being. However I can't seem to get viper to work, the app itself installs and so does the drivers, but selinux mode changer - has root issues.
It is granted root, but soon afterwards a pop up appears stating that it hasn't been granted sufficient root access (something like that).
Has anyone managed to get just viper mod alone installed on stock rom? I know there are other sound software mods, such as arise that include viper - but I was looking to install just viper mod alone.
Any help would be much appreciated.
With all my previous devices it worked perfectly fine.
Flash FreedomOs - modified stock, comes with root, xposed support and working viper no mods needed, find it in roms section
