Hi folks, I'm keen to stay on stock rom for the time being. However I can't seem to get viper to work, the app itself installs and so does the drivers, but selinux mode changer - has root issues.
It is granted root, but soon afterwards a pop up appears stating that it hasn't been granted sufficient root access (something like that).
Has anyone managed to get just viper mod alone installed on stock rom? I know there are other sound software mods, such as arise that include viper - but I was looking to install just viper mod alone.
Any help would be much appreciated.
With all my previous devices it worked perfectly fine.
Flash FreedomOs - modified stock, comes with root, xposed support and working viper no mods needed, find it in roms section

Not working here. always asks to install the driver after reboot.
To get it working all I did was root my phone, installed viper4android.
After opening the app it asked to install the drivers I let it, then rebooted
everything worked just fine.
Viper4Android needs your phone to be on Permissive Kernel.
Working!!! Ty everyone will post a link and how-to install guide in my thread

Anyone know how to get convolver to work with CM 12.1 nightly on z00A?
Hi, can somebody confirm that Viper4android works without issues on the original rom?, i mean by this that after a reboot the app starts itself, as in my case I have to start the app to get its functionality working on my player
Thanks
is viper4android safe? It asks for a lot of permmisons
yeah viper4android is safe i have been running it since my galaxy s3 and never looked backed best app i have ever come across as far as boosting audio quality.
also guys having problems with not hearing any differance i had the same problem at first then i found a thread in general with a modified audio_policy.config file i had to replace with the original one then v4a worked a charm also kernel has to be permissive too so try it again with the modified audio_policy if you gave up because i nearly did
Not really working for me. I did the se permissive then installed v4a then installed driver and reboot. Now I'm using it mainly for Spotify and it works sometimes but then sometimes it will stop working unless I unplug the headphones and plug back in or sometimes it just stop working at all
Download the viper 4 android guitardedhero bought in my Zenfone max working.
Hello.
after successfully rooting my G4 and installing busybox.. I have also installed V4A. however, after installing the drivers, I can't get them to actually work.. (driver status shows unsupported and abnormal.)
anyone knows if V4A works with the G4? and if so, how did you get it to work?
thanks!

You need to set kernel to permissive. Selinux switcher apps will correct your issue.
I set to permissive installed v4a of viper and used awesome player instead of nu player. Yet changing eq doesnt do anything

TUrn off any EQs that you may have on in your music player.
And if you go into the settings menu > Driver status > What do you see here?
After setting to permissive you should get a different message at the bottom when you access V4A compared to when you didn't have it (If you kept note)
Here is a great guide how to make it work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/to-root-apps-t3165390/post62107040#post62107040
In addition to the above, I had to force enable V4A and switch to FX compatible mode to get Spotify to work. My other apps worked without those changes.
About gave up for months, then it clicked in my mind when i saw a post mention to make sure all other audio apps redirect eq to viper, and if not, change them. Even if you dont use a certain audio player app, change it too.
Problem is, i could not get the lg music app (which i never use) to change the equalizer to viper, it just had it's own default settings, so i ignored it. So i decided to revisit the lg app, and froze the app with link2sd, i also froze the lg video app too, just in case. Rebooted and now viper sees NEON and i can even run without compatibility mode (which did not work consistantly for me) .
I tried all steps to get this to work, not sure what other things are needed for everyone else, but i tried moving viper to system, installed selinuxmodechanger, maybe this can be uninstalled now, i have no idea. I have no plans to fix what isnt broken and find out myself, so just try freezing lg music app for starters.
Hope it works for you, if so, let the community know what steps you had to do!
I got the HTC 10 not too long ago and I have been really happy with the phone. My only complaint is there isn't a good equalizer for it to work on Bluetooth audio devices.
I've been using Viper4Android for a few years now and haven't ran into many problems with it. My issue now is when I try to install the audio drivers, it prompts me the drivers installed successfully and reboot, but when I reboot, it prompts me to install the drivers again and the driver status says it isn't installed. My phone's bootloader is unlocked and properly rooted, has busybox installed and has SuperSU granted for Viper so I really don't know what is causing this problem.
Is there any way to get Viper audio drivers installed or is there a decent alternativeto it that works on the 10?
Have not tried yet with the 10 but maybe you need to change to permissive and I think you also need a kernel that allows permissive. Any that's what I'm used to with the Nexus 5.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA-Developers mobile app

Flash this. Once flashed, you can replace with current version of Viper located in the priv app folder.

Awesome it works like a charm! It even includes the patch where it allows you to use it even if selinux is set to enforcingso you don't have to get a permissive kernel.
I feel what it boils down to is there is probably some sort writing protection to the system that prevents it from being installed by normal means

How did you end up getting it installed? Selinux set to permissive, still couldn't get it to install so I tried this older version but it hangs and won't load, and I can't find the Priv App folder mentioned.
Sorry if it's not quite related, but, what exactly does the application interface install as "drivers?" I need those files to manually install Viper.
I recently rooted my N900T using CF root, and all went well. Now I would like to install the Xposed framework, and have no clue which file to install, as I have found dozens of them, as well as reading there are different instructions on Samsung.
This phone has a stock rom, running 5.0 and I'd rather leave it that way. I've heard about using either Odin or Flashfire to flash the xposed framework, then just installing the APK, but once again, which file out of the dozens out there is for this device?
My main reasons are ad blocking, and to disable the idiotic headphone warning (since I can't strangle the developer of that screw up, heh heh) I use xposed on my old Nexus 7 and love it, and afaik, it was easy to put it on there.
I have searched, but either didn't find what I was sure applied to my device, or didn't find it, so sorry if it's already out there.
Thanks for any help!
my understanding is that to install xposed on a touchwiz ROM (samsung's rom), it needs to be deodex-ed
(see first post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...m-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900tuvufob6-v1-t3215571 )
look for deodex for instructions. Then the thread I linked should have the correct links to xposed install.
If you use an AOSP rom, you can install directly (no deode step required).

Thanks for the info, about to give it a try.
SUCCESS! The file I was trying to flash was the wrong one, apparently. was trying to flash xposed-v75-sdk21-arm-arter97-snapdragon.zip, but I needed the V71 version instead.
v85 by dkcldark works without needing to deodex your ROM.

I am currently using this on rooted stock FOL1 knox 0x0 flashed using FlashFire.
Interesting. As this phone was given to me, and is over 3 years old, I could care less about knox or warranties, but still nice to know it can be done. The only problem I had was the touchwiz launcher deciding to just stop working, and getting those idiotic prompts "unfortunately touchwiz home has stopped, if this inconveniences you, too bad". I fixed that by ditching touchwiz home and going with Nova launcher, which I like better anyway. I also like that this phone has an IR blaster, which has led to fun with random TV's!
I hope its ok to ask my question here in this recent thread. I'm messed up with xposed I think. I had xposed installed and working while on the NK3 firmware. I don't do a lot of updates to my device very often, but decided it was finally time to move to 5.0. So I downloaded FOB6, got it flashed, rooted, twrp installed, sd card fix. I totally missed the part where I should have disabled or removed xposed before I upgraded. Now I seem to be stuck. Can't quite figure out how to remove the old version and install newer version. I tried downloading from the post by dkcldark ref'd above. I installed using flashfire (first time using that), but it seems I still have the same older version still showing when I run the app.
If all else fails I guess I'll make a backup and factory reset, but I'm hoping there is an easier way. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Hello, anybody successfully installed viper4android on A320FL? I am not begginer (using xposed and a lot of other apps needed root), but I can't install it fine. I tried normal install, install through twrp, freeze knox apps (with titanium backup), etc.. After first launch app I install drivers (successfully), but in drivers stats it's off.. Just not working, guys I really want viper4android, please help and sorry for english .
Edit. I using newest stock firmware with recovery and root + some features like xposed, etc..
It installed fine for me and driver status reports positive but its not working. With Spotify the sound drops for like two seconds when seeking like its trying to initiate the sound engine and then crashing and reverting to default. Id like to know how you got xposed to work though!
Got it working!
I used V4A Enforcing patch from this post for the A5 2016 and it works for me (stock rooted Android 6, TWRP) and i also got xposed working (thread here). Unfortunately V4A kicks in very late so there is an annoying dip when scrubbing in Spotify. Maybe this will improve when there are solid AOSP roms
