Gnex kernel updates - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I want to know what is the endpoint of gnex kernel upgrade? Does it have any limitation and is it possible to develope 3.4 version of linux fot gnex kernel?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

it is possible to get 3.4 for gnex , its just too difficult , there are some devs working on it atm.

The latest GNex kernel to be supported is 3.0.101. As stated, a 3.4 kernel is being worked on.

Quick Question, what are the best radios so far (CDMA)?
Charlotte NC area.
Thanks so much guys.
All kernels should support it if built from the 3.0.8 kernel source. Just make sure you have a rom that supports/unlocks it.

I'm running AOKP toro milestone 4. Is that Rom compatible?

Q ice kernel

I'm trying to help my friend with their Inc and don't have time to read everything .
Is there an ICS kernel out right now so she can change governors?
Does the ROM have hardware acceleration? If so use the stock kernel or there is a tiamat kernel on tiamat-dev.com. otherwise 12/8 and newer incredikernel work.

Kernel 3.4 on gsm galaxy nexus

Why gsm galaxy nexus doesn't have a working 3.4.X kernel ?????? For example i9001 have it!!!!!!
I don't know ????????!!! :S
Because the GNex uses TI silicon.
For the noobs... TI = Texas Instrument

For the noobs... Silicon = What microprocessors are made of(different from implants)
Because the devs haven't done it yet.
It should be possible as older devices have done it.

Possible: yes.
But what's the point? Why do you want your kernel version to say 3.4? What does it bring for you? There's a reason Google hasn't (yet) updated the kernel beyond whatever it is now.

Yeah there's a reason. Its easier not to port it from 3.0 to 3.4. You are right. While I wouldn't say it's just a version change as aosp commits go into 3.4 as well, most of the changes would not even be noticed by the end user.

I know tha gnex have ti omap processore but why developer not port 3.4 kerel and samsung galaxy s plus that have Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon
CPU 1.4 GHz Scorpion have 3.4 kernel, ti omap 4460 is newer than MSM8255T ? I want 3.4 kernel because it is in all the new devices that have 4.1.X and my that have 4.2.2 not have it
Even if you get 3.4, you wouldn't see any advantage..its only an increased number
Our gnex born with 3.0.x and will always stay on 3.0.x officially
Porting it from 3.0 to 3.4 will only introduce problems with the hardware, WiFi, sensors, battery drain, crash..

Again, I ask you what will 3.4 bring you that the current 3.0.x kernel doesn't already do for you?

Can someone explain android kernels?

With all this talk about how the gnex can't run 4.4 because ti no longer releases drivers for android and the 3.4 kernel being required, it's making my head spin. I've also heard my phone has always been on 3.4....wait what? Shouldn't all devices with the same android version run the same kernel? Now I'm hearing it's possible to build kitkat with the old kernel.... I'm going to go throw up and pass out...
Really just want some clarification on this subject

1) Our phone's always been on 3.0 kernel, which was announced End Of Life this October.
2) Not necessarily new Android versions need new kernel versions. Even 2.6 kernel can run Android 4.1, which typically requires 3.0 or 3.4 kernel.

At the basic, the KERNEL is the low level base code on which all instructions are set. Lets say is in charge of dictate how things are done, again, at the very low level.
Thus Kernel is only needed if your phone has functions or features that are only found in that Kernel version. Lets say that kernel 3.4 has rules on how manage bluetooth 4.0 LE, but our Galaxy Nexus doesnt have Bluetooth 4.0.(Isnt ???). Those that kernel is not really required.
Things become more complex as you add more variables like memory managment, I/O managment, and those thing that improve over each update and maybe are needed in order to work with newer OS version.
I cant really tell you features that are needed in KitKat 4.4 against Kernel 3.4 not found in Kernel 3.0, so I'm not the man that can tell you if bringin(or the lack of) 4.4 to our GNex is a middle finger from Google or not.
Yeah I got curious about some stuff so I decided to manually look at what kernal every device is running. My 4 is 3.4 now, nexus 7 first gen is 3.1, my wife's nook with cm10.2 is 3.0, and my buddies gnexes are also 3.0, while the kitkat kernal is actually 3.8

But all AOSP KitKat builds (not ports) for Nexus 4 runs on 3.4. 3.8 is merely a speculation I've seen somewhere.

Crazy. So is there any hope for the developer community to build kitkat Roms that fully work for the galaxy nexus or is development dead beyond 4.3 other than experimental builds that stuff like the front camera/GPS/Bluetooth doesn't work?

They'll have to hack it like jt did for the galaxy S.

Hay im running Dirty Unicorn(4.4.2) and the latest elementalX kernal and it does charge my nexus 7 with the OTG cable and sends power to my DAC, but the sound is still playing through the speakers of my Nexus.
the DAC im using is the Behringer UCA-222 it works fine with CM10.2, but no OTG charging.
Could someone please help me out?
Thanks
There's a reason why these threads are frowned upon, and this is a prime example. To the OP, there are no real roms that are/are not noob friendly. Some just have extra optimizations...it's up to you to utilize them all. As starters, get comfortable with the stock rom, then try the others. Then you can truly determine which rom is best for you AND for your device (since each device may respond differently).

Wow. Do you remember what your screen on time was?
Paranoid Android and Glitch kernel work flawlessly for me.
I like slimkat and glitch. I've had this setup since day 1 and still running this setup.
