[Q] Compatible Wired Tether Kernel/Radios - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Kernel
I need a Kernel that supports Wired Tether, any suggestions?
PS. The ones I saw in development did not have that specified whether or not it would work.
Radios
Quick Question, what are the best radios so far (CDMA)?
Charlotte NC area.
Thanks so much guys.

All kernels should support it if built from the 3.0.8 kernel source. Just make sure you have a rom that supports/unlocks it.

I'm running AOKP toro milestone 4. Is that Rom compatible?

Rom Question concerning kernels.

Hi there, new Nexus user here and have just currently flashed AOKP M5. Just wondering if that comes with its own kernel or do I have to pick my own?
it comes with a stock kernel. You have the option to flash another one if you so please. These other kernels allow for over clock and under volt. And other numerous features. Being a new person I would stick to stock and later on try other kernels.

Every AOKP version (including M5) I have flashed comes with FAUX kernel, at least, that is what franco.kernel Control app tells me before I flash franco.kernel.

I use Franco and Trinity...Trinity is best for battery life. Both are great and other kernel are good too but for me these have been the best for battery which to me is very important.

Kernel Question

I understand that roms are not fully compatible across different Galaxy Nexus variations, but are kernels? I would love to try some of the Verizon kernels.

From what I understand, yes.
Should be fine. The glados kernel is cross compatible with the sprint nexus so I would say yes.

most are. i know that trinity, glados, and franco kernels are. but it all depends on each developer to make it compatible across all the different galaxy nexus variations.
All kernels should be compatible across all devices. I compiled 3 boot.img files, one for maguro, one for toro, and one for toroplus/torospr and all three had the same md5. The only issue you may run into would be a kernel that isn't compatible with a ROM. The stock AOSP kernel doesn't seem to work on CM9 due to some slight changes to the ramdisk, but a CM9 kernel should work fine on stock, and everything else from what I've seen.

are kernels specific to the Roms?

I have a question on if a Rom is built using a kernel, is the rom built to be the best on that kernel(optomized) or will it run better on another kernel? I am running the people's rom v2.2 with the samuri-mtd kernel that was flashed with it.

Kernels aren't built for specific ROMs they are built for specific phones . However they are built for specific android versions. Like an ICS kernel won't boot on a GB kernel... for obvious reasons. So you can flash any GB kernel for any GB rom.

Thank you for the quick reply. So as long as I use the GB kernels I can try any of them out?

No. Only ones that use the bootclasspath and drivers for your specific ROM type such as Touchwiz or Cyanogenmod7.

Whoops... that slipped... forgot about that.
Currently the only choices are the Samurai kernel TPR came with, shadowkernel (either EL30 or FC09 versions will work but FC09 version still has no LED notifications I believe), Nubernel and CleanGB kernel.

Wow thank you did not know that. That's why I ask or search before I do anything. And always back up.

[Q] Which Kernel do you use?

Hey guys, i was just wondering which kernels you guys now use since i've been on sick kernels for a long time but with this resent camera problem with supersick i was wondering which kernel that has the camera/camcorder feature would be stable enough to go to. Which kernel do you guys use? (CDMA only) Thanks

If you have an older copy of simon's supersick kernel I think 1-3-13 build worked smoothly with camera working

Possible tiamat kernels for sprint gs3?

Is it possible to run a tiamat based kernel or any kernel the Tiamat developers make on the Sprint GS3. Preferably with something built from a CM based ROM such as CM 10.1, Jellybam, CarbonROM? Or would it backfire and cause problems for our CPUs?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Edit: If not, would it be possible to port a kernel over?
There's no kernel in the Sprint S3 development section by that name. So the quick answer is no.

Well i know that its not part of our development yet. But im curious to as if they will work for anything other than that of a snapdragon processor or if they could be broken down and restructured to work for our processors. Just a creative thought. Was wondering if there were any developers interested in maybe trying to calaborate and build a similar kernel. I like the KT747 but im not familiar with the governors. Was wondering if possible to get governors such as savagezen and brazillianwax brought over to the s3. Or if there are any kernels that contain one or the other I've yet to find them.
