Is it possible to run a tiamat based kernel or any kernel the Tiamat developers make on the Sprint GS3. Preferably with something built from a CM based ROM such as CM 10.1, Jellybam, CarbonROM? Or would it backfire and cause problems for our CPUs?

Edit: If not, would it be possible to port a kernel over?
There's no kernel in the Sprint S3 development section by that name. So the quick answer is no.

Well i know that its not part of our development yet. But im curious to as if they will work for anything other than that of a snapdragon processor or if they could be broken down and restructured to work for our processors. Just a creative thought. Was wondering if there were any developers interested in maybe trying to calaborate and build a similar kernel. I like the KT747 but im not familiar with the governors. Was wondering if possible to get governors such as savagezen and brazillianwax brought over to the s3. Or if there are any kernels that contain one or the other I've yet to find them.

I was just fiddling around with my rom I'm working on based on çm7.
And the thought occurred to me has anyone built a kernal that was made Only for the evolution to provide the most optimal settings battery life and performance with out all the other stuff for supporting other devices
I would take this idea into my own hands but I don't personally know enough
Whelps just a idea for someone to test

SavagedZen started out as an EVO-only project. They compiled AOSP themselves and built a kernel for the EVO. Even though they grew to different phones their primary phone was the EVO. They have their own ROM with their kernel baked in.
Not sure about SalvageMod. I think it was compiled from AOSP and built by Lithid and Barnacles for the EVO originally. So pairing it with the SavagedZen kernel would make a nice pair for the EVO.
When I say compiled from AOSP, I mean AOSP source, not Cyanogenmod.

I know what asop is

But I mean with the latest kernal
And latest android

So im curious is there an overclockable kernel for ics that i can use with set cpu. All i see are stock kernels. Are we waiting for more development on kernels? On gb i could over clock to 1.7 which was awesome.

im taking a guess here, so someone correct me if im wrong, but i think everyone is waiting for the ics source to be released b4 they start makeing custom kernels.

Use the search function. It's already been posted that you can use Tegrak to overclock the stock kernel, even on ICS

Doesnt work with cm9,miui, and apperently aokp, since im on aokp and it says kernal not available. Custom kernels would be awesome right now
To begin with we don't have the source. It's not as simple as splitting the zImage and typing in some numbers. Also, there's very little demand for OC'd kernels on this phone. Most people that OC do it to increase performance, reduce lag, play games, and a few other things. Basically they do it for a reason. The ones that do it just because or so they can show it off to their friends are a very small group. Since the majority don't feel overclocking is necessary on this phone there won't be too many OC'd kernels even when we get the source.
So before I ask my question I wanna make one thing clear. I have 100% respect for the devs that work on our phones and can't wait to see what ICS source brings us.
Now to the question. Before all these ICS leaks we had EL29 source for our phone. However we only ever had on variant of custom kernel (Rogue). All I keep hearing is that once source drops for ICS we'll see a lot of custom ROMs and kernels. If we have source for GB why aren't there any other custom kernels? I guess I'm just a little confused on what source will bring us, besides allowing us to build a pure AOSP kernel and allow over and underclocking on TW roms.
Are you saying rogue was the only gb kernel for this phone?
If so you haven't been here long..

I believe he is referring to gunslinger/hitman and all the kernels before it made by team rogue which allowed voltage changing and overclocking. Not the repacked stock kernels.
LoStKernel. Zedomax. Plus kernel. That's without actually looking.

I know we all love to have the most battery life possible on s2, but has there has not really been a kernel that allows over clock. Not sure if the reason is because of lack of demand because of better battery life without it or that gingerbread and ics roms dont support it?
Last I remember Zedomax or something was the last kernel to offer oc, but it had issues with Lost back when the s2 first came out.

As far as I know, the custom GB kernels have always allowed overclocking.

Overclocking does not apply to ICS btw

Also, ICS doesn't have source yet. Once source drops we will see alot more being done with kernels and ROMs.

Ah Gotcha. Thanks for the info!

We'll get over-clocking support for the ICS ROMs when we can get the ICS source. I'm actually thinking there is a way to do it without the source though at least on NTC devices. Let me go look for that link...
In the original development section I see only one custom kernel. I assume since this phone is so popular, development would be nuts, but where are all the kernels? Are other SGSIII sections on XDA have compatible kernels?
There are 2 in there, look harder. Also many tmo kernels work for us as well

seems that kernel dev is a bit slow, would be cool to see some faux lol
There are actually 6 different kernels in the original dev section. Ktoonzes has 4 versions and faux has 2.
So whats the best kernel for AKOP or CM10?
Not so sure that their is a "best", just what works for you. Personally I use ktoonzes on task650's AOKP. Lots of tweaks and comes with its own CPU control app also written by ktoonzes.
