Q ice kernel - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to help my friend with their Inc and don't have time to read everything .
Is there an ICS kernel out right now so she can change governors?

Does the ROM have hardware acceleration? If so use the stock kernel or there is a tiamat kernel on tiamat-dev.com. otherwise 12/8 and newer incredikernel work.

[Q] Kernel solutions?

I'm currently running Aeroevan's CM 9.0.0-RC0-Inc2-KANG, that's packaged with kernel version [email protected] My question is, are there any kernels out that will be compatible with this ROM? I tried a couple of Evan's releases but they all bonked out on me, giving me a black (backlit) screen. I'd like more control with my kernel, governors and the like.

Oh, I didn't see the 9 lol. I just saw cm and assumed cm7. Yeah, there's no other ics kernels yet.

I have a feeling that we will see more options included for oc/uv in his next release. Kinda think the 1-1-12 rom was just for him to get a perfect base going, now that it's out of the way I'm optimistic that he will start doing his tweaks and bug fixes.
As for different kernel options, pretty sure their are none available, actually I think that the only one building kernels for Inc2 ICS besides the stock CM9 kernel is Aeroevan.
Okay so if I'm stuck on this kernel for a minute, what would the best governor to use? Currently on demand.

Since there's no smartassV2 and no undervolting I would say yeah, that's what I'm using and the battery life isn't bad. Can't wait till he adds smartass and uv though, I was getting almost 2 days off my battery on Protekks christmas beta with smartassV2 and uv -25 across the board.

Best kernel for cpu control

Hi everyone! I've got a dinc 2 rooted with stock rom, I was wondering what the best kernel was for controlling the cpu, I want to get better battery life and i'm not sure how.

any kernel will do, its more about the gov's in the kernels themselves. Choose a kernel and just select the "Powersave" governor.
Excellent thanks!

No problem!
I'm running aeroevan's v10.5. It's supposed to be for his ICS ROM, but it works nicely on CM7.2, too.
The stock CM7.2 kernel doesn't allow undervolting.
I haven't played with any Sense ROMs. I prefer vanilla Android.

Best All-Round ROM+Kernel Combination on Jelly Bean?

What are some of your deadly combinations in terms of JB ROMs and kernels for the GNex?
I've got:
ROM: Jellybro CM10
Kernel: Jame Bond 3.3
Never encountered anything better than this.
Jellybro + Kejar gapps + Franco kernel

+1 Really haven't found something like what I had on ICE (Rascream + Franco). So far I've tried SuperRom, AndroidME, Thunderstick and Bigxies Stock ROM all of them with Trinity Kernel and Franco Kernel.
James Bond 3.3, Air Kernel r177, Franco 223 are all super smooth for me on the latest Modaco JR4.

Jellin' like a felon
CM10 [jellybro] + kernel of your choice (franco or trinity)
I was using black jelly bean + Franco. Was smooth and fast! Loving the dark theme.
But I just switched to CM10Hybrid ParanoidAndroid 1.8
Using the tablet mode. Its a nice change. Different. Paired it with Trinity 537GPU alpha32. I like! Then I just added the paranoid darkness blue theme. That was the icing on the cake.
I'm new to ROMs. Is trinity the only kernel that has a blue tint to it? I feel like i can't go back to the yellowish stock tint. Lol
MoDaCo latest with Franco kernel..
No bugs, no lag and more importantly no slow downs over time.

Why would the stock ROM have lag? Everyone seems to have this assumption that your average dude who does some Android development in the spare time that his real job affords him will make a better ROM/kernel than Google's highly skilled engineers that do this as their full time job. Stock ROM is awesome. Custom ROMs and kernels aren't needed to reduce lag or anything like that but to use different mods or features that are not part of stock. Everyone will say this and that kernel gives them better battery life but I really don't think undervolting or whatever has much of an effect. It's all about the screen and your connection quality. And of course how often you're waking your phone and using it.
Right now the stock ota with the trinity kernel is amazing!
sent from my Galaxy Nexus running official Jelly Bean!!!!
Running fitsnugly's CM10 jellybro and the kernel that came with it.
It's lovely!
Just run what I'm running... smh, he didn't ask.what everybody was running.

There is no possible way to answer this question. The only way to find what's "best" is to try them for yourself.

SiyahKernel Alternative

I really want to use this kernel and try these settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26755476&postcount=850 for better battery life.
However, i know that flashing this kernel will cause me to brick.
So my question is, Is there any kernel for the Epic 4g Touch that is equivalent to the SiyahKernel that will allow me to use the settings in the thread posted above??
Thanks..
Closest one I've seen with those features is the BLU KUBAN kernel but it's only for touchwiz roms. Siyah kernel I believe works for both AOSP and Touchwiz. So if your looking for that then no we don't have any.

Damn...Well what kernel would you recommend to use on akop,cm10,asop,etc roms? Governor?
If you mean jellybean kernels only the one in your rom. There are no others.

^^ what he said, no dev is working on just AOSP kernel alone to add those nice fancy tweaks, they're rather focused on making the whole Rom stable ,then additional tweaks come later, plus we have no source for jelly bean.

[Q] Best Custom kernel for OverClocking and best Jelly Bean ROM combo?

I've been on CleanGB for a long time, recently switched to avatar rom so I could add Utter. This rom seems laggy as hell, and I can't find the setting for usb debugging. And I can't overclock. I guess I need the JB version of cleangb. thoughts?
1. USB Debugging is under Developer options, which can be enabled by tapping Settings-About phone-Build number 7 times, and can then be found in Settings.
2. From what I see, there's not much kernel development for JB, nitest and @Effsi's stock compilations are fast and stable, only that they don't overclock much, but I highly question the meaning of this: JB is already smooth enough, if you're having unbearable lag then you must have done sth unbearable to bog down the system, and in this situation OC won't do good.
Sent from HTC Incredible S @ CM10.1
There is no JB version of CleanGB. If you're looking for a similar experience, give SlimBean a shot. As far as custom JB kernels for OC purposes, Nitest is really the only game in town.

Or "Nutest" for Live OC. From what I've read in the nitest thread, it sounds pretty good at being fast.
