Best kernel for cpu control - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hi everyone! I've got a dinc 2 rooted with stock rom, I was wondering what the best kernel was for controlling the cpu, I want to get better battery life and i'm not sure how.

any kernel will do, its more about the gov's in the kernels themselves. Choose a kernel and just select the "Powersave" governor.

Excellent thanks!

No problem!

I'm running aeroevan's v10.5. It's supposed to be for his ICS ROM, but it works nicely on CM7.2, too.
The stock CM7.2 kernel doesn't allow undervolting.
I haven't played with any Sense ROMs. I prefer vanilla Android.
-CM7 on DInc2

Overclocking

I would like to overclock my Dinc, I'm currently running skyraider 4.0 and have the stock kernel running right now. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a new kernel.. but all the ones I see give you about a 100Mhz overclock. This would be fine.. however I'm wondering if I could overclock to a potentially more unstable speed for a minimal amount of time.. are there any kernels that allow this? Also, what kernel would you recommend?
Thanks,

Alright thanks.

What is a good kernel for end of days rom?

I'm running end of days and I've never had the best luck with custom kernels and aosp roms.
Are any end of days users using a custom kernel and it's stable? If so, which one?

It's going to differ at least a little between you and another user.. You won't find the best kernel for you until you test different kernels.
Look at Tiamat and SavagedZen. Figure out which works best for you.

savaged zen 2.1 cfs is very stable on my evo 2.

Best ROM for EVO4G? (best battery life?)

Which ROM is the best ROM for the Evo4G? The most famous ROMs that I always read about is Cyanogen and MIUI?
which has a better battery life?
I'm using cm7 and thimat kernal not bad so far

Try them both...

In my experience MIUI and CM are on similar footing when it comes to battery; it could go either way since they are both pretty similar (MIUI is based off of CM).

World peace with no regard for human life.
If you like Sense, I recommend the MikG 2.45 rom. You can then experiment with the new Freedom kernels (currently at version 0.8, with varying versions (stock, less, more, aggressive) which have different degrees of undervolting built in for improved battery life.
I went ahead and tried CM7 on the EVO 4G and it works flawlessly.
I'm sure I can save more battery life if I use SetCpu profiles? Is it o.k. to use setCPU profiles with the kernel that comes with CM7? Or is there a better kernel to use?
Also, i prefer SetCPU profiles because I can use the screen-off profile to underclock and save battery when my phone is not in use.
Miui is not based off of cyanogenmod. Miui is better anyway. IMO that is.

I love sense 3.0 Roms and you should definitely try one of kings Roms and any other out there. Anyways, if you like aosp then you should def try decks. Great on battery and works flawlessly. His Rom also has the cyanogen settings to overclock and go into detail with your phone

I have to say Decks ROM is the best I've used. Its very stable and smooth as silk. Using the SavagedZen with BFS Kernel got me excellent battery life...
So far its out of Kinged kingdom or Kings Alliance. My kid sat on my phone and played gun bros for about 4 hours yesterday around midday 10ish - 2 o'clock and the battery still had a little juice left(had not been charged since like 7am). Alliance is a little better to me only cuz it has the hacked hotspot(no error 67).
The Baked Snack ROMs are renowned for battery life.

Been rocking sense lately but nothing beats decks + savagedzen + vipermod + supercharger v6 for battery life and performance.
Edit: ......in my opinion
could you tell me where you download these from?
including the SavagedZen with BFS Kernel ?
thank you

Miui syncs up with the cyanogenmod tree quite frequently actually. While its not based off of cm their vendor trees are.

Favorite kernel?

I'm running the stock kernel right now with Android Revolution ROM. Anyone have a kernel on their GNex that they really like?
You're pretty limited as most of the kernel developers have gone on to 4.0.3.

Pretty much what he said. Your only alternative is to use MoDaCo's 4.0.2 ROM allowing 4.0.3 kernels. But I'd just recommend using AOKP, its on 4.0.3 and you can combine that with Franco's kernel. Amazing combination and I recommend it.
I was using ARHD but he never updated to 4.0.3 as he's waiting for the binaries for 4.0.3 on Google's part. I don't fully agree with what he's doing so I moved onto AOKP. AOKP offers a lot more features that are amazing and every update just brings on new features that I really like. So you should check that out
If you want the "leaked" 4.0.3 from somewhere, use one of those rom, but might not be stable. I am using arhd with james bond kernel with 1.35 oc uv, it run like better, no crash, stable like stock. The choice is your, stable or not stable. Most of the rom out there are just diffetent name but 99% are the same.

4.0.3 is not leaked. It's compiled off AOSP source. And it very much stable. AOKP is also not the same as the other ROMs. Unique features such as changing color of the clock, adding PM/AM, smaller PM/AM, center clock, power saver are there. This is what separates this ROM from the rest.
Gotcha, thanks guys. There are are a few things I've been wanting to do with 4.0.3 anyway, so maybe I'll bit the bullet and switch to a different ROM. I looked into AOKP and Franco's kernel and they both sound pretty good.
Just took the plunge - AOKP with Franco's kernel. It is sa-weeeet!

ya i donno where you're getting your information from but running aokp has been the smoothest, most stable rom experience I've had.

Using ARHD 2.1.1. Since it's 4.0.2 you're limited in available kernels since most are being developed for 4.0.3. But with that said I'm using Jame Bond Kernel w/ 1.35 oc and uv.
Only had one fc, other than that it's been very stable.
Another quite popular ROM is Bigxie's 4.0.3 based one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399238).
Along with Franco's kernel, this combination really flies, with great battery life!
I highly recommend it. Franco also has a market app which makes updates more convenient and also offers easy access to options such as overclocking.
Franco's is awesome. He has a handy auto-update app on the market.

Just installed it does this auto-check for you, or do you have to manually open it to check for kernel updates?

You do need to open the app to check for updates.

[Q] Kernel recomendations

Just got my i747 from AT&T. It is rooted and I am running the stock rom.
Which kernels work with the stock rom?
Is there a battery icon that will work with the stock rom?
Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
Well I've been running KTooz Kernel........works well but on day 2, I can't say I've experienced better battery stats........
Not YET..........I'm hopeful. I used teh app it comes with and dropped the CPU to 1050, and dropped each of hte voltages
by 120mv..........we'll see.
