I haven't noticed the clock issue and mine charges fine without any flimsiness. How long have you had your phone? Might be able to swap it out at Verizon (or wherever you purchased it at) with no questions asked. I'm assuming that's about your only option for the charging port issue. If you are able to swap, make sure you test out the camera to make sure you done get one with the purple hue issue.

thanks for the reply. I've had the phone since June. Okay. I might take it back into the shop, see if they could do anything about it.
I haven't noticed the clock issue (but to be fair, I've never really looked for it), but I know that I haven't had any issues with the charging port. Has your phone always been like this, or did it just happen recently? I agree with the above poster in that you should take it back to have it checked out. Sorry for not being more helpful, but good luck!

Hello just wondering if anyone else his having this problem or heard of anything similar just looking for advise before I approach the phone company.
(Im in the British Military away on OPs atm so need to try and describe the fault, and hopefully get a good will replacement without the U/S phone sending back)
So anyways My LCD when open to a certain degree and sometimes when not open the screen Inverts. It also sometimes Freezes this happened before root as well as after so it isnt a software problem more of a hardware, It happens sometimes fully open sometimes certain degrees open and sometimes totally shut.
However if you move the screen around it will return to its normal condition which leads to me believing its not the LCD screen itself but that little cable that transfers Screen to phone hardware.
Just wondering If anyone can give me a confirmation? and perhaps some technical Jargon so I can pin point it down in my email. Any help is appreciated
Cheers!
If its the cable that is the problem u can just swap it.
The keyboard/housing/ribbons are 59dollar on ebay.

Thats the problem im looking for ideas whether that might be the problem whether anyone has experienced it before. Im really remote in choices of what to do atm due to my circumstances so I was looking for whether anyone might identify this as the same as another fault they have had previously or a "common wear and tear" sort of fault if you know what i mean.
I do appreciate however without eyes on the devise that is very hard to do.
Can you try and open the keyboard halfway then try to touch the cable with somekind of stick? And see if your screen messes up or not?
If it does mess up its possible that ur cable is damaged and causing problems.
Just wondering. Are you running custom rom? I know ur phone is rooted but u didn't say ur running custom rom or not.

Sometimes the screen of my Galaxy Nexus freaks out; it behaves as if I'm touching the screen repeatedly while I'm not. It does not happen a lot, but I think it mostly occurs after pulling down the notification menu and touching a notification message there.
I have tried to reproduce this behavior (camera ready so I can video the screen of my GN), so far no luck. Anybody else experienced this?
Of course, as soon as I'm in bed and have put my camera away I experienced the issue again.
Will try again this evening.
That really sounds like a faulty screen I'm sorry to say. I had a similar issue with my HD2 two years ago, had to send it for replacement.
Hmmm I hope not. Since it's very hard to reproduce I doubt I can prove it in order to get a replacement.
It happens to me only when I'm charging the device. Do you use custom ROM? I'm suspecting that right now.
Nope, stock rom. I haven't even rooted it yet.
Finally caught it on video! It's not very focused but it clearly shows my problem.

I don't think its a hardware problem because I'm mostly experiencing this problem at home. Today at work I used the phone the whole day without encountering this behavior. I'm 15 minutes home and the problem pops up again. Difference? At home the phone is connected to my WiFi. Any thoughts?
Does it happen when you're not holding the phone? I've had anomalies happen before when the phone is on table and not in my hand before. Or could be faulty driver for touchscreen chip.

No, it does not happen spontaneously. I happens when I'm using the phone.
I've read some threads for other devices concerning exact the same issue. There were opinions that it could be due to the static charge that gathers on the sensor.
Possible solution could be:
1) discharge the phone
2) remove the battery and wait for about 10-12 hours.
Try it may be it ill help you.

The phone has a stock image. Also it's not rooted and I haven't touched the bootloader either.
Hello, I have a CDMA GNex running build 36. At random points through the day I find my screen turning on because my phone thinks it is changing. The odd thing is its is not even plugged in. I just was wondering if you guys think it is a hardware issue or if it's just my ROM or Kernel. Any Tips on how to fix this issue are appreciated.
Thanks

*UPDATE* Found that a battery pull solved the problem on my phone (or at least for now), never reverted back to stock. I had it charge for 20 or so minutes then unplugged the charger and it seemed to recognize it was no longer charging, thanks for the help again guys. If at first the battery pull doesn't work, wait a day and try it again (i pulled it 2 different days)
Any takers? If it is a hardware issue i want to fix it ASAP before my warranty is up!
I have it too, wipe doesn't help. I will try flash a stock rom..

i've found myself at 99% when it's plugged in and it won't charge anymore. not sure if it's a hardware thing or a rom thing. it's intermittent though... haven't found a fix yet...
Please share what you find out after you revert back!

When the screen comes on, does it say "Charging"? I am using Text Plus for my messaging, and I had to uncheck a setting to turn on the screen when I received a notification. Are you sure it isn't an app that is turning the screen on?

Absolutely positive, when going into the battery stats, on the lock screen, and the icon on the top all show that the phone is charging, I seemed to notice it after I flashed the paranoid android ROM. Since then I have reverted back to AOKP and the issue is still there. I may restore stock, and if it persists I'll delete superuser APK. and run it over to Verizon while I still have the warranty. If anyone can tell me if is a hardware or software problem it would help me figure out the problem.

I've seen a similar issue where the device will not charge while connected to power. A reboot will resolve the issue but, for obvious reasons, this is less than optimal.
Is there any way to identify what application (since this only changed recently) might be causing the issue?
Thanks!
M
Oh come on!! Don't people use the search function anymore!?!? See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676711 or the other 20-30 threads regarding this issue.
Basically, you need to replace your USB charging board, and Samsung will claim water damage and make you pay for the whole repair...
Let's say for just a second that I didn't run any searches (which I did, not only here but Google as well) and have misinterpreted issue (where the device stops charging after a few moments, but only when the OS is running) and it is actually a hardware issue, how does being condescending help or encourage others to post here?
Sorry, I'm not targeting you. I'm just not okay with people creating new threads instead of contributing in existing threads regarding the exact same issues.

Problem solved (sorta) i called customer care and they said that it was a "common problem" and usually was a result of using a charger other than the one that came with the phone... Long story short they are sending me a new one, new post here if you are still in the helping mood (;

This issue just started happening on my Galaxy Nexus last week. I just called Verizon and explained what was going. I told the rep I hard reset the phone and it still occurs. He said it was a known issue and overnight ed a replacement. If you're having this issue Verizon seems very aware of it.
I had the same issue .... for me it went away with the newer CM builds [VZW].

Mine just started doing this yesterday. Tried a couple of battery pulls but it still seems to think it's constantly charging. When it starts flopping back and forth between charging and discharging the phone becomes unusable. I'm just wondering if the battery pull was a permanent fix for you or did you have to send it in eventually?
I've had my phone for about a week or so and since that time I've had it randomly shutdown during phonecalls while plugged into my charger in the truck. I think it did this while playing music through Google Play as well as talking to my wife, but it keeps happening. The phone is NOT rooted and I suppose it could be an app I have installed, but it's frustrating trying to figure out which one if that's the case.
I haven't confirmed it, but it *appears* to be only happening while either A) connected to BT or B) plugged into my charger in the truck (which I used previously for my Atrix) or C) maybe it's while both are connected? I haven't noticed it happening other than when it's plugged in and using BT. Also, forgot to mention it shows me a picture of the battery when it drops (whether it's full or half full or whatnot) and I can hold in the power button and it comes back up.
I scoured Google and saw several posts about this issue, but none of them provided too much information. Anyone else have this happen yet? Should I contact ATT and get it exchanged? Any help is appreciated.
If you've only had it for a week, I'd take it back to an AT&T store for an exchange. My first GS3 was stock and had issues out of the box with random shutdowns and reboots. Took it back and asked for a new sim card also just to be sure. The replacement has been rock solid, so the first one was just a dud. The AT&T store I took the first one back to was very helpful and made the swap with no hassle.

So some of them are just random duds? Well that's good to know I guess. Hopefully they'll be willing to exchange it at their store. Is there any other possibility anyone can think of or should I just swap it?
Thanks for your help btw.

My first one was shipped from AT&T wireless. Took it to an official AT&T wireless store (not just one of the authorized dealers) and it was swapped quickly with few questions asked. Lots of these were made in a short period of time to meet demand, so some made it through half baked. New one has zero issues.

Mine was also shipped via ATT Wireless.. Okay.. I'll print out this thread and just show it to them.. lol..
Thanks again for the help.
My first one did that and i found that it always did it to me and i tried to replicate it and found that if left in heat it random reboots everytime.
Ive always left ever phone ive owned in my truck while playing bball and this is the only one that does this.

Mine reboot on its own several times a week. Usually while in my belt case. Planning on getting ATT to swap it at some point, but am lazy and not super motivated yet. They were good about similar issues with my old Captivate at the real ATT store.

Hey guys,
Looks like I have a very unique problem here with my Galaxy S4, M919. I've had the phone for about 2 months and it's worked flawlessly until yesterday. It just randomly stopped charging!
I've replaced the charging port already and also re-flashed ROM (aokp_jfltetmo_kitkat_nightly_2014-03-27).
I am unable to charge the phone, however it syncs perfectly with my PC. I've searched all day yesterday and all morning today for anyone with a similar problem but have yet to find anything.
You guys are my best and only hope now.
Please..anyone. I really need your help! I can't afford to purchase a new device.
If you require more information, let me know.
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
EDIT
I just ordered a Qi Wireless Charger from eBay. I'm hoping it'll allow me to charge the phone since it completely bypassed the charging port and is located on the mobo itself. Will update once it arrives and I test it out.
Still looking for answers to this problem though. So if anyone has any thoughts on what may have happened (and its solution), it would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT 2
Just received the Qi Wireless Charger.. It does not work either =(
I will be flashing back to stock again and try to charge the phone while it is off. This is the last thing I can try now. If it still doesn't work, I will be parting out my phone.
LCD $180
MoBo $120
Remaining parts can be discussed
Just message if interested!

Have you attempted to flash another ROM and see if the problem persists? Another kernel? I suggest trying another kernel first, then another ROM. Also, I have to ask just to cover all bases, have you tried multiple ports on your PC? The device won't charge at all or just while connected to PC?

Hey. Thanks for the reply.
I've already tried flashing a new kernel as well as ROM. I've tried all 4 ports on my PC. I forgot to mention that it also does not charge through any wall adapters. Any charging method that involves using a Micro USB cable does not work. The only response I can get is data sync when attached to my PC.

If you are with T-Mobile, I sure hope you have insurance or JUMP. As a T-Mobile employee, I can vouch that this problem is considered a hardware defect and would fall under an insurance plan. The only thing is though, you'd you have to return to full uprooted stock as an employee in your store will have to perform a physical and software diagnosis. Physical is easy as long as the phone has no cracked screen, no water damage and is YOUR phone. Software, they will plug it into our diagnosis tool where we'd be able to see if you've installed ROMs and such, which would void your warranty.

Yeah. I've gone to stock..still doesn't charge. Re-rooted and flashed aokp again and same thing.
I honestly have no idea what could cause this. I've never..and i really mean never dropped my phone, nor had any sort of shock or damage to it. No liquid/moisture anywhere around it. No dust. It doesn't make sense for it to be something physical.. it's still being picked up by my computer. I'm still able to flash and transfer files to/from the phone. It just is not charging.

Well, it's most likely a malfunction then my friend. A customer came into my store just the other day with his S5 he just purchased three days prior. The device was stuck on that S-View screen even when the S-View case was not covering the screen and even completely detached. We tried everything you can at a T-Mobile store. Even factory reset. Still, the problem persisted. It happens friend, hope you have insurance or JUMP

Are you still having this issue?
I am having the same issue, but this only happens when installing a rom. You cannot just reflash the stock rom. If you still have to phone, I can give you a link on what to down load to set your phone back to defaults. Once you set it back to defaults you should be fine.
My issue:
I installed any custom rom and this Tmobile Phone will not charge at all!!!!
Complete set back to Tmobile Defaults charges perfectly.
I will try flashing a custom Kernel with battery management to see if this help.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up selling the phone to someone for a cheaper price. I tried to ODIN back to stock, however it didn't work. I'd still like to know why it would stop charging if a custom ROM was installed though.

I found my issue, it first came by my root method. I was using a method that wasn't designed for my model. Then the issue was recovery, again wrong type for model. Finally I got everything to work and I lost lte. to fix that I just added the LTE profile and it works.
