So I installed this app Folder Mount, and it can show partition sizes. I notice there is some unused space in some of the partitions, and I wonder if I could lower the partition to increase my internal storage, and if I could, how?
Attached is the screenshot of the said partitions.

this is a very interesting question... i think maybe this is done for other phones.. would search and report if I find something

You can see the first 3 has 900MB each, plus 2,5gb for system, and another 10gb for user, that totals up to roughly 16gb. I just can't accept having only 10gb user available space.

My cousin has a epic 4g and it's very low on internal memory but deleting apps doesn't affect it. How can she clear some of the memory (the memory seems to not be accessible when connected to the pc)? Is this memory associated with stored texts?
Is she rooted? She can try moving to the MTD partition it has a much larger internal memory storage on stock bml is 400 or so on mtd its 670mb =]. Otherwise it could be she needs to delete some of the apps she doesn't use or move them to the sd card... least the ones she can.

You can also sort apps by size and see which are the largest ones and either uninstall them or try to move them to USB storage.

Delete texts, delete large games, move apps to SD, delete large apps, delete call logs.

On the box it was written that storage is 4gb but when I turned on the phone my phone it was only 980 mb onlyyyy.whyyyy?? Is it possible that the shop that I bought the phone from has changed the internal storage piece??

I don't think its possible to change the internal storage piece, but I think that 3gb goes to the system storage.
Would someone else with a One V confirm this?
EDIT: did some searching, according to gsmarena 3gb is in fact for system apps
And here is an xda thread regarding the same issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586291
EDIT 2: I just found out the One V has a microSD slot unlike the One X and S, so the only thing you need the 980 mb for is apps and data. But since it has microSD expansion, link2sd will work if you really want more space

you have to make partition first...which is supported by kernel....

The procedure is slightly more complicated to setup, since yes you need to partition the SD card (the 2nd partition is how much space you want for more apps), and you have to choose a certain partition format, e.g. FAT32 is supported on all ROMs.
I won't get into the details, there are multiple guides on how to setup and use link2sd.
I will, however, tell you that when using link2sd, nearly every part of the app you are moving, every bit of data, lib files, etc. are moved to the SD partition, and less than a megabyte is saved onto the phones internal storage for each app.

I can't figure out where about 4gb of mystery space has gone. The screen shot shows the breakdown of storage yet I only have 6gb free. I've used sd maid to cleanup, corpse find etc.., as well as removed my titanium backups so see if that's where my missing storage went.
I'm running the latest cm10 nightly.

That's crazy, have you tried the app "DiskUsage"?

If you've run SD Maid, it may be your best option is to format your data. I made a post a while ago that lays out steps on how I did it to reclaim space, but not lose all my data: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33918194

Hello could anybody explain me this on the pic? How is it possible that I having 25 Gb of internal memory and only using less than 5 Gb in total of pics, apps, music than downloads, it says that I have only 2,41 Gb available?
Thanks

the sub categories only measure specific folders not the entire card. like pictures, videos reports the size of the DCIM folder.
If you add up the different sections it will not include things like CWM backups and custom folders that you add I add folder for CWM zip files called ZIPS to the root of my card
If you look at mine it does the same thing, they dont add up.
but if you look at the details of the internal card from my root file manager it shows I have 7GB used which does add up. dont forget the size differences from GB to MB. 1GB is not 1,000MB
Thanks. So I'll have to erase some back up to free some space, no?
EDIT: it seems that "others" is using the most memory, upon looking up it seems like Titanium Backup folder is the culprit. Some advice?

you can transfer your titanium backup files to pc.
Could I transfer them back with no problems later today even if the apps update?
I'll try, thanks
I did but it just freed 6 Gb, it still has a lot of space occupied by "others"..

yes you can get it back without problems, look again into your folders.
Check the cwm recovery folder for outdated/unused backups.
When connected to PC you can right click on all the root folders of the sd card and check properties for folder sizes. This should be easier than tapping on phone. That is if your not already doing this.
You may even find a storage app from the market.

Can anyone tell me what size their internal storage partition is. Mine seems to be small and for a 32 gig device there is a lot of storage that is missing.
I have 2.11 with only 1.40 available. The other partition is 25.23 in size. To me that adds up to 27.34, a lot smaller than the 32.
