Hello could anybody explain me this on the pic? How is it possible that I having 25 Gb of internal memory and only using less than 5 Gb in total of pics, apps, music than downloads, it says that I have only 2,41 Gb available?
Thanks

the sub categories only measure specific folders not the entire card. like pictures, videos reports the size of the DCIM folder.
If you add up the different sections it will not include things like CWM backups and custom folders that you add I add folder for CWM zip files called ZIPS to the root of my card
If you look at mine it does the same thing, they dont add up.
but if you look at the details of the internal card from my root file manager it shows I have 7GB used which does add up. dont forget the size differences from GB to MB. 1GB is not 1,000MB
Thanks. So I'll have to erase some back up to free some space, no?
EDIT: it seems that "others" is using the most memory, upon looking up it seems like Titanium Backup folder is the culprit. Some advice?
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
you can transfer your titanium backup files to pc.
Could I transfer them back with no problems later today even if the apps update?
I'll try, thanks
I did but it just freed 6 Gb, it still has a lot of space occupied by "others"..

yes you can get it back without problems, look again into your folders.
Check the cwm recovery folder for outdated/unused backups.
When connected to PC you can right click on all the root folders of the sd card and check properties for folder sizes. This should be easier than tapping on phone. That is if your not already doing this.
You may even find a storage app from the market.

why don't you move some of the installed apps to SD card?!
um, I moved all the apps to SD card I could. Meaning the ones that support moving. I could force move to SD card for some apps, but don't want to screw with that.

That message is there for a reason and if you know what your doing some times it just takes common sense you can move most of your apps to SD card even if the creator of the app doesn't allow it in the app setting 's

How come some phones are okay with less than 20MB free... anyway, arc's internal memory size is way too small... "common sense", huh? Well, I have my own reasons for not wanting to force the apps to SD...
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Links2SD works wonderfully for the Xperia 2011 phones.
I did the "move to SD" for every app possible, but still ran into issues downloading games from the Market due to only have 20-70 MB free on the internal phone storage.
But, using Links2SD, creating a 1 GB partition on the SDCard for apps, and moving/linking pretty much everything to that, I have over 150 MB free internal phone storage for app downloading.

It isn't big, but not too small.
Some of us, as I do, have more than 100 apps and ~100MB left.
Once I had 145 apps and 80MB were left, I just use the native App2SD. No Link2SD etc
Do you clear your cache regulary?
Gives me back ~10MB each day

Well, if you compare Arc's internal memory to some other devices' that have 16GB of it, it does seem tiny, doesn't it? I have more than 200 apps and I use Apps2SD, so I move apps to SD if they support it. I used TB to force some huge apks to SD, like Epic Blue and Green themes for CM7, but it's a bit of a pain if you're on one of those themes when you have to reboot, because you have to reapply the theme after the phone boots up. And yes, I wipe cache on daily basis. I'm getting myself 32GB memory card so I'll probably try Link2SD or something like that. I currently have 2 class 8GB card which I got with the phone. Lousy card, lol.
But anyway, I just wanted to know if it was possible to get rid of that Low on space message. Like, okay, I know I'm low on space, I'll see what I can do later, but get the fck away from my status bar now cos you annoy me...

I think we should remove unuseful applications.
Does anyone know the way to backup applications, group them by folder and restore all without asking anything?

So I have like 10 pictures on my phone. And I've ran Clean Master to clear up space. But my phone only has 16GB and nothing is in downloads either so 1.86 GB makes no sense too

when your in your storage menu select pictures videos and it should show you the files or list of files that are using that space. You can also download file manager from the play store and do a storage analysis it will show you the folders that are using the most space etc.
I want to clear out my storage but theres so many files. Concerned if I delete the wrong one. Running out of space :/ sucks

If you are just clearing items from the internal SD and not from any system locations then you should be fine. Everything on internal SD is just extra storage for you and your apps. You may lose saves and settings if you were to just clear the whole thing. I would suggest going through and deleting the largest items or moving them to external SD. Use Disk Usage app to view the largest items and see what needs to be moved. Use GL to SD to move large games to the external SD but do note that you MUST launch them from GL to SD if you do this. GL to SD does require root. Also, I would advise deleting pictures and video if you use your camera a lot. Back them up first of course. If you have Google+ installed with it set to auto upload your photos and videos, this won't be a problem.

As the title mentiones, my device is out of memory. Like none. Even if I install a new rom the phone storage is still low cant even update all my apps because there's no space on my device. I tried apps to see whats taking up the huge space but there all worthless really cant delete from the app. Dont want to delete important files either so question is how can I get ride of all this crap the phone doesn't need?

silly question, but once it was done calculating did you tap on one of the sections to see the individual files and there sizes? i was coming close to having this issue, until i went through each of those sections with a fine tooth comb. it was then i found piles of old downloaded files just stock piled....ended up clearing 3 gigs.
Let that screen sit for a minute to let the calculations finish. Then select a category (like miscellaneous). Then check which files you like to delete. The hidden thumbnail folder can get big, much like other app folders that cache info.

Have you possibly flashed any aosp or cyanogen roms. Could possibly have files built up in an O folder on your internal sd card

In my screenshot above, that 2+GB TWRP folder has only 1 backup of the data partition. Moving these backups to external SD can open a lot of internal storage space.

Look at the pictures I attach. The Samsung entry takes up a lot of space. Is this something I can safely delete? What is it by the way?

I think it's dropbox syncing files to your phone, though not 100% sure.

The sky service in settings? There you can sync Dropbox to phone.

Yes. If you have it turned on, and there's no other dropbox entry in storage overview, that's most likely it. Delete the cloudagent folder in /sdcard and see if it's gone.

Use a file manager (or browse from your PC) and look what it contains. It could be files that are synchronized via Samsung Kies. By default the "Samsung" folder is around 102 MB only. It contains a video file, a music files and some images for wallpaper.

Hi,
Why not move them to your external sd? This way you can save your internal sd space. Please note that the free space for internal sd and sdcard partitions are shared.

Hi,
What I meant is the free space for internal (hidden partition where the apps are installed) and the sdcard position are shared. Not the external sd.

Whatever you do, you won't be able to use more than 10.46 GB of data. Even if you switch to an aosp ROM which is less than 1/3 the size of touchwiz ROM , you will still only be able to use 10.46 GB.
Some apps showing 11.2 GB including titanium backup is the same as only 14gb usable out of 16gb usable. You can multiply 11.2 x 1000^3 and divide it by 1024^3 and get roughly 10.46
Resizing partitions is a different case.
