[Q] Battery Problem on my new Note 3! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Welcome! I've got Galaxy Note 3 for 3 days and i'm not satisfied about battery life. I read that it is possible to work on one charging even 3 days! I can work on my max 8h!!! I've got wifi/bt off, battery saver mode on, screen bright on auto and -5, only gsm (not LTE), no sync, no facebook app. When i'm working on my phone i can easily see how battery is discharging When the battery is full and after 10 usage i've got 90% without doing nothing special. Is my battery broken? shoud i use warranty?

You got some app going crazy or something. I get apps that hang sometimes and will kill my battery in a day. Lately ive been paying attention and trying to kill apps that are uselessly draining and ive only used a third of my battery in 24 hours. Just gotta hunt the problem down.
Regardless, its probably just software and not the phone itself.

[SOLVED][Q] Battery issues?

Wondering if anyone else has had any battery issues? I went to sleep last night with about 85% or more battery, and 5.5 hours later my phone was dead....when i plugged it in for like 5 minutes to call my work and tell them i was going to be late...when i got to work my phone said 45% phone idle and 45% cell standby for battery use
none here - took phone off charger about midnight, this morning after alarm rang for the full 10 minutes, it still showed 100%
i've been watching it and am really impressed with battery life - is it possible you've got a program running in the background? - i had Startup Auditor to stop apps in the background but had that from before, on my Vibrant
on the vibrant, running a predominantly black wallpaper, screen brightness at 13%, putting phone in "airplane mode" when i sleep, keeping GPS off, data sync off etc, it'd be down to 17-22% at end of day before going back on charger
this G2, running live wallpaper (thunderstorm), no efficiency moves (ie GPS off, etc), screen brightness at 50%, phone still had 34% last night before going back on the charger - and the battery has not "conditioned" - i noticed on the past 2 phones batteries life got better after the first few weeks of use.
Nothing different than my nexus...and i was thinking maybe it was a game but that should have been killed automatically and i dont think it would say phone standby and cell idle if it was an app would it?
tonite you might try putting the phone in airplane mode when you go to bed, and turn off GPS
see what happens to battery drain overnite - if it diminishes then i'd look at what apps you've installed. there was an article on engadget not too long ago that some researchers had analyzed the 358 most popular apps, and found 30 were reporting data to their "mothership" that had not declared it or asked for permission to report data.
hope that helps
well another weird thing is, that when i bought the phone and brought it home, usually it comes with half battery and thats what it showed but i had to charge it quick with no apps really installed on it yet...Im charging now and will test to see what happens with battery...i just removed off alot of my apps.... to see whats up
I'm getting about 10 hours with regular usage though I wish I knew why Photobucket keeps starting everytime i kill it.
I hope you guys charged the phone fully before you used it first. That can play a big role in battery life.
I got my phone yesterday and haven't done any calibrations yet. I've been playing with it like you normally would if you buy a new smartphone. I took it off the charger around 9pm last night and at 7:32am right now I have about 60% left. So roughly 10.5 hours later and I've only lost about 40%. I'm very impressed by that. My vibrant would have been dead by now, it rarely lasts through the night if its not on the charger.

What's your time with out signal, sounds like the 50% bug to me, google the airplane mode fix, if not you might want to look into a new radio, and you should allways recal your battery after you flash

my 1st GSIII was defective(phone HOT while off)

Just an FYI,
My 1st sprint GSIII was fine for the 1st month. I could get upto 3 1/2 days of battery with very light usage (mostly standby time). NOt sure what caused what happened next but the phone became extremely warm and the battery life dropped to approx. 2 hours. The phone was very warm even while off for hours!! And it obviously got even hotter while on the charger. The only way to get the phone to return to room temp was to pull the battery and leave it out for a few hours. Turning wifi/data/sync/GPS etc. off did nothing. The odd thing was, the battery was a normal temp. The heat came from the lower part of the phone (where the processor is). It also gave incorrect battery readings. While plugged in it would read "100%" and "charging" the LED stayed red, never turning green. I also could pull the battery and put it right back in and it would read 20-30 % difference VS. when I took it out.
The phone was swapped at a sprint store covered by insurance.
The only thing i did differently usage wise was link the phone to my dropbox account. It seemed to sync normally so i can't confirm dropbox caused the issue. I just can't figure out what the phone was "doing" while it was off. Just thought i'd share the story with the phone. The new 1 is running fine.
I found this today. Appears to be helpful with heating up and improved battery life.

This doesn't sound good at all. My cousin's GII on AT&T did something similar to this. The phone would be completely turned off and it would vibrate every 10 minutes. Even pulling out the battery and reinstering it made it automatically turn back on and vibrate again and again.
Hopefully this is an isolated issue what you are talking about.

Mine was like what you descrbed for a couple days(almost no signal at home) and I was getting ready to return it but didnt have time because I was leaving for Vegas. Long story short when I got to Vegas I upated profile and PRL and havent had a problem since. Maybe the towers in your area are under constrction.

My phone has gotten hot ever since I got it, but it will cool down when I stop using it. I am getting horrible battery life even witha 4300 mah battery. today it wouldnt even last 11 hours. It had 3 hours total usage time on it. I am now trying another 4300 mah battery to see if that is the problem or if its the phone. my reg battery wont last me very long either. I am also using juice defender free version and advanced task killer plus the built in task killer and I cannot get my phone to last very long. With my orig Evo I had the sprint extended battery (2500? mah) and it last me til bedtime with 50% left.
The only time this happened to me was when an badly behaving app "ran away". I would get really bad battery usage at the same time. I could cure it by clearing ram, which shut down all the running apps. Since this hasn't happened to me in a while I'm guessing that whatever app was doing that to my phone has been updated to fix the bug.
My issue was very odd. My phone was normal lasting up to 3 days with very light usage. It would sit for hours at "room temp"..the only thing i did differently was link it to my dropbox accnt. It seemed to sync ok..it was shortly after that i noticed the phone was very warm towards the lower 1/3 of the phone. I thought maybe there was something running or taxing the processor. So after working on it for a few days(turning everything off i.e. wifi/gps/data/sync/etc etc.) the battery got worse and worse. I then unlinked dropbox, stopped all running apps and let the phone sit in airplane mode over night. Still no joy. So i turned the phone off and let it sit for about 6 hours. It was still "very warm" while off!! At that point I pulled the battery for about 2 hours and the phone returned to normal temp. What could the phone be doing while turned off for hours?
The phone was stock and updated. I use an airrave so i dont have signal issues. The processor seemed to be running at full load even while the phone was off. The battery life went from around 3 days to not even 2 hours. The phone did seem to have the known "cell standby" issue(where the counter is reporting an incorrect usage %). While charging, the phone was even hotter to the point of me thinking it would burst. Oddly enough, the battery was at a normal temp. It was no where near the temp of the bottom of the phone(where the processor is located). The new GS3 is running normally so far. The tech at the sprint store couldnt figure the old 1 out so they just replaced it(insurance/no charge).

Insanely rapid battery drain

Hey guys, my nexus out of the blue started to rapidly deplete its battery. My charge will go from 100%-0 within 2 hours with the screen OFF. Yep, a total screen on uptime of about 13 seconds. I hoped the problem was with the battery itself so I bought a replacement 3800mah extended battery and it's still having the same problem, except now it'll drain in about 4 hours with the screen off.
I tried all the things I could find via search, turning off all syncs and settings I could but nothing improved it. Also I've wiped several times, there's no additional apps installed or anything, just stock. The phone seems to charge normally, taking about the same time as when it worked fine to get to 100%.
I'm guessing it's a hardware issue, but I'm out of warranty on the phone. Any of you experience something similar and was able to replace a part manually, or is my phone prettty much a brick.
Also I should add that there is no service currently on the phone since I had to switch it out, It's pretty much on airplane mode w/ mobile network turned off so it's not looking for a signal or lte draining. Another thing is that the drain is pretty consistent, meaning I could be using the phone or have it off the whole time and it's still going to 0% at the same time.

Battery goes dead after a day or two of standby. Case issue?

I have this case:
http://www.amazon.com/Google-Nexus-2013-Case-Manufacturer/dp/B00E5NOXM4
If I have the Nexus at 100% battery and shut off the screen, it will be completely dead after 24-48 hours. Considering that this is standby and that my old old old iPad 1st Gen had a standby time of a couple WEEKS, I'm thinking that there is something wrong?
How long is the standby time supposed to be on the 2013 Nexus?
Is it possible that the case is actually somehow turning on the screen behind the cover and just leaving it on?
Assuming you are on stock 5.1.1, then the battery life is pretty poor....
Mine will only last 48 hours max on standby as it repeatedly wakes up, albeit with the screen off...
I have tried to disable anything I can to stop it waking up, but no good....
KitKat was far better in terms of staying asleep IMHO.
I actually have two N7's and have rooted the seocnd one and am running CleanRom and that is a LOT better at sleeping and so lasts a lot longer on standby.
Why would it be the case? It's not like the case is going to randomly turn it on and off... And if you need to test it; take it out of the case.
My N7 loses a few percent overnight at most... I've left it in my desk at work over the weekend by accident.. Off the charger at 9am Friday, looked at it 9amish Monday, it was at 83%. Nothing special, was stock L at the time.
More then likely you have software installed that is waking the tablet up or running in the background frequently causing the drain. I can unplug mine from the charger at 7am and not use it till 7pm and it will still be fully charged with that case. If I am super busy and don't use it for day or two it may go down to 98-95%. But if I leave Terraria open and put it to sleep by 7pm it may be down to 60-70% without even using it.
My OG ipad has stand-by measured in months. Too bad it's now completely useless. With the constant reboots and battery drains this N7 isn't far behind.

Battery life has declined since some version of lollipop. It's still pretty good but I've lost more than an hour of screen on time. It's impossible to pinpoint what app or apps cause the drainage because wakelock detector only shows facebook messenger as the sole big battery consumer but that's nothing new. In Android's own battery usage stats besides screen my main battery usage is "Android system" and "Android os" which use way too much CPU and cause abnormally much keep awake. I use Greenify and have almost every app except Google's own Greenified but lately I suspect apps bypass Greenify through Google Play services in some way.
But mostly I think it is under the hood stuff in Android and poor optimization from Google devs combined with Wi-Fi being always on. My old nexus 7 2012 which has "keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" set to never has incredible standby time. If not used I get 2 weeks.
Remember how much they praised project Volta last year's i/o, lollipop actually has shortened battery life. This year they called it doze. I honestly think it's just a charade to fool us to believe they put an effort in battery optimization.
^I guess it's just going to be different for everyone depending on a lot of variables.
You say you lost an hour with lollipop, I believe it but I can tell you that I've gained an hour compared to kitkat. So...
Standby time could definitely use some work though.

Where's my good battery life?

I have never had good battery life on my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 ever since I got it in April of 2015. I did a battery test using the Geekbench app and it gets only 4-5 hours of life. And since this is just screen on time, my battery normally drains much faster. I've tried 4.4 Kitkat, 5.1.1 Lolipop, and even 6.0 Marshmellow with no real difference to battery life. I have also tried battery monitoring and battery doctor apps, as well as deleting the batterystats.bin file and even ripping my tablet apart and reseating the battery connector. I've thought about replacing the battery, but the only battery i can find is from NewPower99 and that's $60.00, way too much for a battery in my eyes.
Plenty of battery`s on eBay.

battery life is die quickly in stock rom 5.0.2
Keep your screen brightness as low as usable, avoid white or light screens as they use the most power it is a disadvantage of oled displays, I keep my display on auto -5

Downgrade to KitKat, as the other day i upgraded to lollipop and the battery was dropping 1% every other min its a joke. So i downgraded to KitKat and it gives me easy 3 days use and that's heavy use T705!
How to downgrade t705 to kitkat
I use a built-in feature to keep the screen toned down. In the display settings, there is a reading more feature where I select the apps I primarily use, including my default launcher Nova Launcher, and it tones the screen brightness down while those apps are in focus. Like right now while I'm using the Tapatalk app.

Head over to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ download your firmware and flash using odin it's real simple!
Found this over at Android Central as last few days my battery has been all over the place, as it was fine before. Anyway my battery dropped to 5% turned it off. Waited a minute or so, turned it back on bat was showing 45% wow so i'm draining it again Ive let it drop to 5% again this is the 3rd run now its showing 42% crazy credit goes to rouge-hawkins
I had the same issue on my brand new Galaxy Tab S LTE version with Exynos chip. I was like WTF on the battery because the moment i disconnect it from the charger it would soon drop to about 85% in 5 minutes. Then the dropping continuous in huge leaps like from 70% down to 30% while i'm just browsing the web. Then when it came down to 5% it would turn off. The moment i plug in the charger while the device is off the battery level would start at 40%. It was erratic for 2 weeks. Good news is i was able to resolve this without doing factory resets.
What i did was the moment the battery came down to like 5% i completely turn off the tab and turn it on , the tab reported a higher battery level like 45% then i continued using and until it drops again to a lower level like 3%. I power cycled the tab again and it reported battery level at around 24%. I used it again until battery level went to 3% and rebooted it, then it reported 12%.. used it again until the device really wont boot anymore. Then i used a slow charger. I used the 1A usb charger from my other phone (while off) and waited until 100% full. Then things became normal.. it reports battery level fine after. I also installed Clean Master and disabled some background apps and Samsung bloatware that i really dont use. Everything is ok now and im happy with my Tab S 8.4... hope this helps for those who got their device over the holidays. I resumed using the 2.1A default charger and issue doesnt seem to repeat anymore.
