So I rooted/unlocked bootloader etc..., but dragged my feet on installing custom ROM's. So i see that Rogers One X is getting an official Jelly Bean update. I am on AT&T so I would assume that the AT&T update is coming soon. Do I need to unroot so I don't risk bricking my phone or will the OTA update work anyway?

yeah man, you need to unroot, get back stock recovery and relock bootloader then use the correct RUU,.
it sounds like alot to do but it really is just a few fastboot commants and letting the RUU run its course, there is many guides but i think you are in the wrong forum, do you have the international one X or the dual core version?
if you have the dual core version then the correct guide for you will be here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Can you point me to a guide for this for the international HOX? I'm running into an issue with the last part, it fails when trying to update. Thanks!
Thanks for that info and yep in the wrong forum. Didn't realize the forums were specific to carrier. :0
thanks again,

Hello,
First time poster here. Thanks to everyone in this community for all of the help and info.
I have acquired a Rogers S3 and will be using it on Telus Mobility. It is unlocked and works great.
I know how to get to a rooted Rogers stock ROM.
My question is - can I change the stock ROM on the phone from Rogers to Telus stock ROM?
The idea is to turn it into a "telus" phone and work from there as far as trying new things with my phone.
Thanks for any info.

I am not certain what your goal is here but you are going to have to root in order to do this, so I would suggest root, backup current rom, slow strip out any "Rogers" stuff you don't want. I don't think there is much difference between the 2 roms other than bloatware. There are very few telus apps on my phone. So I am not sure you will actually gain much.
Root it and put on Task's AOKP rom and be done with it.
You can install a rooted Telus Rom, or ODIN back to Telus Stock S3 rom. As said above, only difference is bloatware..
Thanks Guys,
I figured out how to get rid of the Rogers bloatware, and have the phone set up as I like it for now.
At some point, I will try some of the other ROMs offered here.
I have my phone rooted with this only. I used Odin and this file. CF-Auto-Root-d2spr-d2spr-sphl710.tar.md5
I do have super user and that's it. I was wondering with this new update rolling out from Sprint soon for 4.3. Will I need to un root or can I just update it and lose root.
If I have to un root can someone tell me the easiest. I'm new to this.
I have the Sprint SPH-L710
What I've read is that you have to be on stock ROM doesn't matter if it's rooted/non-rooted. But my suggestion is to wait because there is no coming back to an older version once you upgraded to 4.3. (I maybe wrong on the rooted part ) But it doesn't hurt to double check the threads

Same boat as OP. Can anyone confirm if a rooted stock ROM can be updated to 4.3 without having to unroot?.

I would recommend checking out "High on Android" video's at youtube, that guy got me started and I haven't looked back, he makes it easy for noobs like us.
Honestly I would go and read up on the general section. There is a ton of info over there. This has been discussed beyond end. The answer is yes you can be rooted but you have to be 100 percent stock! Meaning you have to have stock recovery and stock rom. Once you update to 4.3 OTA you will be stuck on stock for awhile! You will not be able to flash roms or kernels. PLEASE BEWARE! Cnexus has an entire thread explaining knox!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541343
I would do what is recommended and wait..it's being worked on and we will be set free of the Knox Ness monster soon enough.

OK guys, There is no way I am the only one with a 900T itching to get my hands on KK and X-Note 9.0. I am very new to the whole rooting android devices but I am quickly learning the ropes. I have been reading many posts were where this is available to the 9005 versions. I also know that the 900T and 9005 are almost the same phone with 900T being locked (temporarily) to TMobile. I have been searching the threads for the past week looking for the answer if anyone with a 900T has been able to install the Official Poland Version 4.4.2 on their 900T. As some help I have been emailing someone else with a T-Mobile phone that helps to specialize in hard bricked devices. I am including the emails and I hope to get this thread moving forward. If it is not possible I would like to see if there is a way to work the system to get us the X-note 9.0 upgrade.

Side note: What I am going to attempt is to install the Poland version of kk to my phone. It is for the 9005 model (which the tmobile device is). Tmobile phones can run 9005 roms with a few updates, but I am not sure about the kk upgrade.

Until we get an official Kernel for 4.4.2 for Tmobile we wont be able to install it. I even tried it last night since I've used previous X-note editions in the past. Hopefully in a couple more weeks we'll have a kernel.

A few questions since I have spent a lot of time digging here in the threads.
1. Did you install the Official Poland 4.4.2 KK update?
2. Did you install the latest compulsion Kernel?

I didn't. If I remember correctly Odin wouldn't let me install the bootloader

Not to question your methods as I have not attempted yet. Did you have the correct boxes checked including the install bootloader? Also did you have your device is usb debug mode? Or is it impossible to flash another regions bootloader?

None of the 9005 roms will run on the N900T without a official KK kernel made for our device, I have done all the research, and it has the same issues that I went thru with Vision.

Axeman, Thank you very much for commenting on this post. I have seen your information alot dieingmy research. I have been attempting to gain traction on this topic. I do have a few questions.
1: is it possible to flash the official Poland KitKat version?
2: if it is possible, what are the risks that we are looking at?
I can see the problem with not having a custom kernel. Here is a link to one that I found earlier today.

I also saw a thread today where the Canadian version is now able to upgrade to Kit Kat and flash x-note 9.0

There is a link in the q&a forum for xnote. This gives specific instructions for getting it to work on tmobile versions of the note 3. I tried on 4.3 and was successful and also on 4.4.2 successful as well. im aroma I just selected the uk version to flash. you probably already know this but I thought id post this for future reference for other members. this rom is real stable and has not gave me any issues whatsoever from version 11 to 13

The only thing I flashed through odin was the 4.4.2 bootloader for tmobile
Everything else was done through recovery
Tmobile version xnote 13
Civ version 2.1 kernel for tmobile note 3
And nfc wifi fix
I do recall reding along the threads somewhere that if you flash a non tmobile bootloader through odin you will end up with a fancy paper weight.

Guess I've been out of the loop. I'm running the previous 4.4.4; can this just be installed in recovery or does this bring in a new bootloader? Have you seen any differences with the new modem?
Thanks for helping keep the development rolling with the S4!

Flash modem in odin,

Modems always with odin.
Kernel, twrp
Modem, rom, kernel
Rom kernel modem
Rom modem kernel.
Doesn't really matter. Except rom before kernel.

Thanks for your fast reply. I'm having a difficult time getting this to work.
I did the modem, before i even did anything else and verified that the baseband said nk2.
Then i tried installing the rom, and then immediately installing the kernal, then booting into system.
It all seems to work but i can't seem to get wifi to turn on. So i tried wiping all again, and booting into system and same thing.
Any suggestions? I'm trying to flash the system again without the kernel and will see if it works. Can you help explain what the kernel does?
thanks shinyside

Shouldn't have an issue, least none of the 60 download and runners, have said anything or reported any issues.
What bootloader and such are you on?
Just set to permissive, or should be haha, I don't have my s4 anymore to check. Should say permissive in Settings. Stock kernel is set to enforcing which is a "security" thing that blocks stuff like a lot of root apps or xposed/xposed modules from working properly. It's the stock kernel, just the ramdisk is edited to be permissive.

What are the major differences between NH7 / NK2?
Was there some new service that Samsung rolled out?
In what way is NK2 better than NH7 ?

From what I know using both: modem (baseband) and additional support languages.
From what I have experienced, lte reception is a tat better.
I would just flash the modem unless you like stock.

Stock is always nice, but I was thinking that there was a new service that was an addition to what was previously released.
Thinking that there was a cross over to Lollipop with a touch-wiz enhancement.
Some new security level or even a Samsung service with data like you mentioned enhancement with LTE. . .
Even though it is Stock, I sure would like to know what was different about this release and why is Samsung pushing this release out.
Hopefully it wont be long before other developers pick this puppy up and tweak the heck of the property build and include the 4 way reboot and such . ...
Stock is always sweet :good:

You'd have use the settings, framework, system ui, mms, contacts, phone, and all to use the systemui and settings from HispAsian. I modded and themed the living hell out of that rom, and you'd have some major text issues and other ui issues, using its systemui and settings in this base among other issues probably. Have to use the ones from the base and just mod it in
