I have rebuilt my HTC one X and now it seems stable using onedroid.
I have tried other roms but had trouble with stability, keyboard or Microphone.
I have:-
FActory reset
flash boot.img (extractedfrom the zip file)
erase cache
Format system/ data everything.
full rom wipe with Philz
Installed zip
Then it asks if I want to unlock or root or something? cant quiet rememberI replied yes.
reboot.
power down
reboot.
Would installing firmware help?
If so which one. (PS the links were down)
And what order.
e.g.
relock (will that mean I can no longer unlock again?)
flash firmware
then boot.img

Keep your bootloader unlocked, easyer to fix things if needed
1: flash the boot.img of the rom
2: enter recovery and
- factory reset (full reset)
- wipe cache partition
- ADVANCED - wipe dalvik cache
- MOUNTS & STORAGE - format cache, data and system
3: then install the rom.zip and make sure you dont mis a step there ! and please check the MD5 hash number of the downloaded rom to make sure its not a bad download.
hboot on 1.39 should be fine. All roms work on that number.
Ok thanks,
Will follow verbatim.
When Philz asks the root? question before rebbot do I answer yes or no.
so no need for firmware then?
Fish
Choose no, and no you don't need a firmware.
Thanks tried that.
Phone stable, one crash in 2 days but mic still intermittent.
Physically chnged mic and still problem.
Im thinking of trying RUU.

If i am not mistaken your Cid corresponds with Europe wwe. That means the 401 region.
So it could be 3.14.401 or higher like 3.18.401 or 3.20.401

OK thanks. It is a UK model,
I got it because the screen was crushed, so had to flash it as could not see the screen and then it would not charge.
A few times when I flashed it it just hung and on one occasion it even got hot.
Although running cyanogen its stable apart from mic.
Do you think the S/W is corrupt?
Which would be safest to try?
and waht are the implications. e.g. if I get the wrong one / go too high I could brick my phone.
Thanks again
Nah nandroid can't brick the phone. I would start with a 3.14.401.31 nand backup. When you boot into OS and touch is not working install a 3.18.401 !

Will report back
restoring a nandroid is just the same make sure it's on your sd card, enter restore and then click the folder and voila... (please note you must still flash the boot.img - just to be sure!)
Do I flash boot.img after restore (fastboot flash boot boot.img)?
I would start with a 3.14.401.31 nand backup. When you boot into OS and touch is not working install a 3.18.401 !
SO do I restore the 3.14 nand, then reboot

. EDIT OOPS thats another command for TWRP?
then back to recovery and re-install 3.18, flash boot etc.?
Thanks
Yep always flash the boot.img from the nand to be safe
Twrp argghh
Well those nandroids are saved with TWRP.
Unfortunately the touch screen version of TWRP does not work with my phone so have to use JB version.
Unfortunately JB does not mount as USB storage, so cannot load nandroid to it.
Tried ONeX adb but would not work as file is not a ZIP file
So I guess i need to flash CWM recovery, copy files over, flash back to TWRP then restore.
Could not find backup for restore.
Did backup, found backup, copied downloaded nandroid (tar.bz file) to folder, still not visible.
So I guess falsh back to CWM again, suss out what to do with file? extract with winzip maybe?) back to TWRP
find directory and files etc, then try to restore again.
Boy is this going to be dirty
EVEN more TWRP
Just realised that I may need to install 2 nandrois, 3.14 then 3.18 BUT one has a boot.img as a seperate download and the other doesnt.
Will try to install the 3.14, the fastboot flash boot boot.img it and see what happens, then Ill be stuck cos no boot.img for tohter?
A nandroid should always contain a boot.img in the folder .....
As predicted touch not working
Now trying 3.18
As predicted touch not working
Now trying 3.18
and the boot .img
is boot.emmc.win
It's a twrp recovery nand. Flash the recovery.img and the boot.emmc.win file.
Fastboot flash boot boot.emmc.win

What I'm trying to do (actually not very much) is just updating from ARHD 9.9 (ICS) to ViperX 3.7.0 (JB). From what I read I should have two alternatives:
1) Updating hboot to 1.33 and then flashing ViperX 3.7.0, but I don't know for which damn reason it gets stuck at the flashing part (fastboot flash zip firmware.zip). I know that u would suggest to enter the command again, be patient and pray, but the point is that it gets stuck at [Sending....] for hours until i close it...
2) Restoring the stock rom and update hboot with OTA updates...and here, i'm quite confused. First of all, I'm not sure about which RUU i should use. Second...what's the main-version number? From what i read, this number should be lower than the one in the RUU, shouldn't it? Mine is 4.28.707.10 and it seems to be high for almost every RUU i download... I tried many RUUs and they give me errors like 140 and others as well. I'm just really confused and tired...
Can you please help me?
(bootloader) version-main: 4.28.707.10
I could only find one person who reported with this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2108580 and it seems it didn't help...
Do you take a nandroid backup of your stock rom?
Thanks man...
If i had a nandroid backup, i wouldn't get so crazy in looking for the right RUU i guess :crying:
And yeah...I bought it in China Shanghai, but in a kind of grey/blackish market  It probably comes from taiwan or hong kong...
isn't there any way to lower your main-version?
Nope, lower mainversion requires SOFF,
Very weird mainversion, I would suggest returning to a "stock"-Custom ICS ROM and restoring your stock recovery then contact HTC about JB upgrade, i think they might charge you if they find out you are not on stock rom.
try this command: fastboot oem readcid, i wonder which cid got that software
Dont bother trying RUU's or firmware.zip that dont have matching (or higher) mainversion.
Hi Vcek, thanks for the help, but I'm really noob...can you explain me better the things that i should do?
What do you mean by 'returning to a "stock"-Custom ICS ROM'?
This is what i get with the command fastboot oem readcid:
C:\apps>fastboot oem readcid

He bought his cell from grey / black market, so even if he returns it to HTC, I doubt it's gonna come under warranty as it was not purchased legally.
As i told u, i tried to update the hboot by flashing the firmware.zip file (with hboot 1.33)...unsuccessful (stuck at [Sending..] ..do u know which could be the reason? There must be a solution! Am i stuck to ICS foverer? :crying: What does the version-main number mean?

You can not flash a firmware with lower base... You can't downgrade on a S-ON device...
Since your base is 4.28xxxxxx the only chance you have in updating your device, is to go full stock with a 4.28xxx nandroid backup and then update OTA by software updates in phone settings... However, you can't because you didn't take a nandroid backup to begin with and your version-main is really rare so there's no nandroid backup for it in the nandroid backup section...
For your cid which is HTC__621, nandroid backup is for older version-main: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0PPYfhK8ynbTi1JaS1KUGxfSVU/edit
You can try to restore it, but I doubt it will be of any help... However, give it a try and lets hope for the best!

Put all files in /clockworkmod/backup/28-05-2013/ or if the backup already has the folders, just put in the respective ones...
Make sure you have a different rom.zip file so that if this doesn't work, you can install a rom instantly so that your phone works for the time being
Put boot.img in fastboot folder... flash the boot.img via fastboot and then fastboot erase cache... go to recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvic and then format system... Now go to restore and backup and restore the nandroid you just copied in the clockworkmod backup fodler... REBOOT!
Again, I'm not sure this will work as the version-main is lower in the backup, however, you don't have any other choice!

Hi everyone,
I'm stuck, I am trying to restore my HTC One X to stock as I am sending off for repair, however its not working. I've read many tutorials but I'm still not getting anywhere.
I've locked the phone, replaced the recovery.img and replaced the boot.img however the RUU won't install.
My phone is from Australia, Virgin and has the CID of: CID_023
My original Nandroid back-up is gone, so I can't use that.
Can anyone give me some advice on what I might be doing wrong and what information you require to help me?

Thank you for your help, so the problem for me was the 3.14 update I had applied. I can't download the file at work, I'll try at home later.
Thant, I want to thank you for your assistance with this problem. Your solution worked, I was able to install the OTA update.
The guides I was following used the RUU as the solution to those without a working Nandroid back up of their own, I wasn't aware that 3.14 or newer could be a problem for that. It is a shame out of date guides are not removed or updated.
I had seen people upload nandroid backups, but I didn't trust those. I decided to take a chance with yours and it worked for me.

Okay I'm going crazy SuperSU is on my phone and I can't get rid of it. I couldn't uninstall it, so I re-rooted the phone, installed custom recovery, installed SuperSU binaries then tried to uninstall. But every reboot reinstalls the application. Argh!!!
Any help with this?
Okay fixed the SuperSU problem, unfortunately the Nadroid backup supplied was not a stock image, still worked though when I did a factory reset, restored nandroid backup, install SU binaries, uninstalled SuperSU from OS, restored recovery, locked OEM, downloaded OTA and installed it.
So it all looks good except the recovery option comes up with an image of a phone and a large red exclamation mark, I assume this means the recovery.img doesn't match. Is there a way to fix this as I'd like my phone repaired?
Thank you
-EDIT-
Okay, I've done some more reading and learnt a little more, which is great.
I believe I need recovery.img for 4.19.728.3, so that will match the software on my phone. I've tried stock recovery for 4.19.707.3 but that didn't work.
I wonder if I should downgrade everything. Say downgrade HBOOT to 1.39, then install stock software of 4.18 and removing SuperSU, then flash stock recovery, lock the phone and attempt a OTA update to update everything. I'm assuming an OTA update would update HBOOT to 1.73, the software to 4.19 and the recovery will also be updated to work. Is this a good solution perhaps?

404 error. Have a fresh link?
Hello,
I'm french so excuse me for my english.
I've done all the HTC update until november 2013.
I've decided to test a new ROM cyanogenmod 10.2
So I've unlocked my bootloader, installed a Clockworkrecovery and flashed a ROM Cyanogen 10.2.
I tried other ROM like Sentinelrom and everything was fine.
My phone was perfectly working.
Since 2 days, I've lost my IMEI and the GSM function of my phone. It never ask the pin code.
I was using it without any problem, on internet with wifi, and suddenly it was blocked in plane mode but wifi, bluetooth still working but no more GSM.
When I do *#06# to see the IMEI, there is the standard window but no IMEI. I know my IMEI because I have the original box of the phone and it's printed ont it.
The plane mode is blocked in desactivation but never totally so it can't work.
I tried many things :
- Flash a new Cyanogen ROM. Works perfectly except the GSM - no IMEI no pin enter.
- Flash some HTC stock ROM (ICS 2.17, JB, 3.16, 4.18, etc.). Works perfectly except the GSM - no IMEI no pin enter.
I don't have any file/folder efs with the IMEI in the phone (search with ES Explorer rooted). I think the problem is here.
I would like to flash a HTC Rom with an RUU file, maybe it could solve my problem but my bootloader version is 1.72 so I can't.
My phone is S-ON so I can't downgrade the bootloader in an older version before 1.3x.
I would like to rewrite the IMEI but I don't know the file, the procedure, etc...
SO I NEED YOUR HELP !
Infos via fastboot getvar all : few number of IMEI are masked to keep my phone identity but I've the complete number.

Do you flash the boot.img via fastboot of the rom you are running ?

Yes. Every flash I do, I flash the boot.img who is in the zip file of each ROM with fastboot. I just check but it's the good file
(No problem with the start of the phone.
Usually I flash the recovery.img with fastboot too.)
I think a flash with RUU file works differently. It flash "all in one", even boot and recovery...
Yes but there is no ruu. Only things you can try is to reflash a rom, flash the boot.img and make sure you make a proper full wipe !
Other things to try :
Relock the bootloader and reflash the firmware, unlock and reflash a new rom again. If the imei and signal are still missing it's proper borked !

Yep, no RUU.
Any advice for a "very full wipe ? Usually I make "wipe data" / "wipe cache" / "wipe Dalvik cache" with the recovery clockworkMod. I've seen something named SuperWipe. Is it better ?
Same question for the firmware : wich firmware I should use ? If you know a very stable and secure version (combinaison) of ROM with firmware, I would know.
Thanks a lot for all your answers !
The 4.18.401 firmware is the one you need. A full wipe in my book is :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced-wipe dalvik cache
Mounts&storage-format cache, data, system
Basically what you can try is to follow the next thread and flash the 4.18.401 firmware.zip. how to is described there, take your time to read the OP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
After the firmware flash you unlock the bootloader again and reflash the custom recovery and install a new rom with a full wipe.
I have an HTC Desire HD.
I unlocked it
s-off
rooted
flashed with cwm recovery
installed from ZIP file on SDCARD
rebooted
stuck on HTC logo regardless of what I attempt.
I have no idea where to go from here.
Any ideas?
Thanks
did you made full wipe?
What ROM?....which version of cwm? These are important factors
ClockworkMod Recovery v 5.8.1.5
I have tried different ROMs, all end up with the same scenario
cm-10.1-20130301-unofficial -ace
cm-JellyTime_R17.zip
I hope this answer helps you help me
Can you access boot loader? If so , go to it and post results of "fastboot getvar all". Maybe running an ruu will get u back on track.
Yest, bootloader is accessible and I attempted an RUU and ended up with the same result.
I will post the results of getvar all when I get home, stuck in traffic now
Thanks

Is this were it stops?
No one has any idea to what it could be, no need for an absolute solution, a mere possible or a reflection as to what I could have done wrong would be appreciated.
LOL
What can i say to you?
As you stated on very first post of yours where you mentioned that your device is S-OFF? then why "INFOsecurity: on" ??
Simply flash any custom rom then extract boot.img from that custom rom .zip file and flash it through fastboot using command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Afterwards it should boot normally. Recovery has no issue nor given rom as you've mentioned on your post. Just requires boot.img to be flashed as your device is S-ON! not S-OFF.
I read a little sarcasm in that LOL
Thanks for the valuable info, I will attempt that as soon as I get home.
I will give feedback as to how successful my attempt has been.
I have attempted the proposed solution and I got the following error:
failed (remote: signature verify fail)
I read that could have to do with the fact that my bootloader is locked again. I did run a while back fastbood oem lock.
oem unlock returns an error.
So I attempted with the htcdev unlock code.bin again and unlocked it.
I ran the boot.img as instructed again and this time it was a success although it gave me a scare with the 4 reboots it performed
Thanks for the help, the tip from dr.patron99 was very helpful.
