Hi All,
I have just bought this device yesterday, I was previously using an HTC HD2.
The device is great so far, but one major issue is when it is connected via USB and Internet Sharing is Selected, the device reboots itself after 2-10 minutes.
The battery is fully charged, and I have restored device to default settings with no apps etc..
It has original firmware 2.1.
Anyone else getting this issue? I can take it back to store, but I wanted to check if it is a setting that I need to change.
Thanks in Advance.

HI All,
I just figured out the answer to my own problem. The the phyone doesn't reboot when just browsing, its when torrents are active on my laptop is when it crashes.
So I reduced the number or Conccurrent Connections for My client down to 5 downloads and 5 upload and no more problem.
It looks like the torrents 100's of concurrent connections were overloading the Handsets NAT Buffer and causing the OS to crash because it couldn't monitor the internal/external IP mapping for all connections.
Phew.. Device isn't fault !!
I have been testing for 30 minutes now and no issue, before it would crash in 2 minutes.
_EDIT******______________________________________________________________
I spoke too soon, although it lasted about 1 hour this time, it still crashed.
It looks like im not the only one either, It seems to be an issue with the stock asian ROMS.
I am currently testing with PDANet and it has been working fine for 20 minutes, but I will update in a few hours.
That should not happen. You will not need to apply any settings other than the ones in which you require to establish the connection and make it work.
Have you performed a factory reset to eliminate any software bugs?

Hi,
Yes I have performed a factory reset of device, and it still does the same. But it doesn't reboot any other time, Only when running internet sharing.
Im stumped.

I would get it replaced then. You have not rooted it and it is running the stock rom so it should not be a problem to have it replaced as it is still under warranty. Just explain the problem you are facing and they should replace it without any fuss. Is the device completely brand new? I mean, could you tell whether it has been opened/used when you received it?

Yes, I just bought it yesterday. I just called and they are happy to swap for another new one, But the store is a bit of a drive and its a bit frustrating as everyone other part of the phone works great.
It was totally brand new when I bought it , sealed in box with the plastic seciruty covers still on device.

Maybe try swapping with another sd card. Also, it could be down to overheating. Does the battery get hot after 10 mins when it reboots itself? The battery could cause these reboots because as it may not produce enough power / ampere in that moment so that the device reboots. I don't suppose you have another battery to try?

I am also using an Asian Rom, From Hong Kong.
Seems to be any load on the device overloads the NAT buffers and causes the os to crash.
I wil try PDA net today and see if the same problem occurs.

I have just installed PDA net on my device and I'm downloading some torrents at 500kb's per second with no limit on concurrent connections. Been 10 minutes so far.
I will keep you updated!!!! Fingers Crossed.
Really Solved this time
PDA Net did the trick
It looks like there is definately a bug with the native internet sharing software for Asian 2.1 Rom.
I have been running PDAnet under High load for the last one hour and thirty minutes and no reboots.
I did get a USB error that popped up briefly from the PDA software, but I think that was because I picked up the device to check the heat. ( Temp is Warm, but definately not hot.
3 hours now and no issues. I have written a letter to HTC, but lets hope that the 2.2 is the fix all that they all think is going to be.
Whenever I go to google maps or mapdroid, and tell it to locate me. It just says "Your current location is temporarily unavailable". I am running the latest software version. The GPS worked fine about 2 weeks ago, I haven't really used it since then. And whenever I tell it to locate me, I see the GPS symbol on the bar at the top (The satellite thing on the bar you can pull down) Any ideas? And also, if it helps, I got the phone about a month ago, from Rogers.
And, I can locate myself when using wifi networks. But when I am not connected by wifi, the GPS won't work.
Have you tried all the obvious things like make sure you have clear view of the sky, Use GPS Satellites ticked under Settings menu, reboot phone etc?
Sometime mine takes a while when on other days it takes only a few seconds

Yes, I have tried all those
And I have left apps such as GPS Test on for about half an hour, and the did not work either.
Any other ideas?
I experienced once or twice on my Arc not locking GPS signal at all. After two reboots all works again and GPS is fast.
However what I've learned from my experience is GPS sometimes has problems in some areas. And sometimes has a problem on Edge. Apparently many things can influence it's behaviour.
Try reboots.

By reboot, I assume you mean holding the power button, and shutting it off, and then turning it back on. I did that, and no help...
And also, I tried using the GPS in many locations, but it still does not work.
Although, I can get my location if I use wireless networks.

Yes by reboot I mean turning on and off the device.
So I don't know. So you say on WiFi you get your GPS working and on mobile connection not? Looks like a strange operator problem maybe. What about resetting mobile settings on phone?
If yuo flash yore arc with DooMKernel you will have this problem flash yore arc with fresh room I have this problem if I flash this kernel

I think what he was meant to type was ‘fresh rom’ – suffering from a case of fat finger syndrome I think!
Are you running the stock ROM or have you installed a different kernel/rom. If you running a non stock rom this could be the issue
I suggest you try this....
Access the service menu (open phone and dial *#*#7378423#*#*). This should bring up the service menu. Go into service tests and scroll down to GPS. From there you should be able to run some tests on your device to make sure its working properly.

I am not running a non stock rom. I am using the one which came with the device.
I did the location test, but it kept saying "Please Wait" for about 15 minutes, then I closed it.
hmmmm..... not to sure what else to suggest other than a fresh install. Have you upgraded the software on the phone since you got it via SE Pc companion? If not then try that as this will put latest android version on your device.
Or perhaps you might have installed an app recently which is conflicting somehow with the GPS function
Other than that, I'm not too sure, but if it's only a month old I'd be tempted to end it back for a replacement

Ok, well. I have the latest android version, and I removed the apps I installed in the last week. Did not work..
So can you please tell me how to reformat the phone.
And is there a way I can backup my messages, apps, photos?
just connect you r phone to PC and open PC companion program from your PC...go to update.i think it will tell you that you have the latest firmware and it will give you the option to repair.just press on repair and it will instal a fresh firmware to your form, in other words it will format your phone and instal a new firmware...back up ur photos and music and other things on s card is simply by copy them to your PC...formatting your phone will not delete any files on the s card however it is recommended to copy every thing to your PC. hope this helped you

find a solution? my xperia play doesnt get a signal.
Hey guys, i Have a Xperia play but this thread looks more as i m passing through, i installed several roms and kernels but my GPS Wont Works, im thinking that my last overclock has burned my GPS module, is this possible?
Hi, here im again, this time i m very happy because i repaired my gps of my xperia play and think that your problem is the same, i tried so many ways:
* Custom Kernels : DoomLord, darkforest, and others,
* Custom Roms: Ics, others that i dont remember (i m on this by 2 months)
* Stock Firm: 4.0.1.A.0.283, .42, .62
* Tried to change the BaseBand so many times
* Tried to clean the main board chip (yes i disassembled my phone many times).
* Tried other things that i dont remember.
Today i flashed a 2.3.2 android stock version, and the signal is best, hsupa working better, and (not in the first time) Gps working fine.
I put "not in the first time" because the gps is a complicated part of the phone it needs so many things working together to be ok that it only worked 4 hours after i had flashed, testing an testing, purging the a-gps data, downloading so many apps to gps... at the end "GPS Status App" on the option "Manage A-GPS status" solved the problem.
Thank you for the attention,
Guys, help. GPS cant find current location but sees satellites. I flashed X-gamer with Night-elf kernel my Xperia Pro. On stock it was working fine.
So what it could be? I havent found any mentions of this problem in Firmware of Kernel threads. Maybe its some missed app?
xperia arc s gps not connecting
I have same problem with my Xperia arc s,
it is not showing a single satellite in GPS STATUS app, neither connecting with anyone, just blinking on i have spend nights on internet and hours on phone but haven't solve my problem, rebooted my phone, nothing helping me,
and anyone knows that does XPERIA ARC S has digital compass?
Hi all,
Not been around for a long time so its great to be back
Recently got the Z1C on Contact, frankly its the biggest regret I've had with a mobile device.
Is anyone else having WiFi speeds slower than dial up?
My download speed is < 250 KB's
Any1 else had this? If so does any1 know a fix?
Thanks
I don't have that, neither on 2,4GHz nor on 5GHz. You could try the unofficial DooMLord kernel, it mentions "custom built wifi wlan modules", dunno if that helps.

I'm not currently looking to Root/Unlock/Flash anything.
I'd just like my Stock Z1C to actually work with WiFi.
Its not exactly difficult, its seriously annoying me now, why is it so slow?

but anyway, have you tried to close all apps on your phone?

I'll check it out when I get home but I never have Bluetooth on so I'd be surprised if it was that.
I have a gaming router which is extremely powerful and all other devices/phones work perfectly so I know that the Z1C is the bottleneck.
Any other ideas if its not the bluetooth?
Thanks
I've not had any issues with WiFi or BT, which is always on on my phone. I do use 5GHz for WiFi.

Have you tried restarting your router?
Does it go slow with every wifi? can you test it on different wifi and see if the problem is with one type of router?
Don't think I've seen anyone ekse with this problem, although flashing the .757 update messed up my bluetooth (then .761 fixed it).

Thanks for getting back to me
I have tested it on my work WiFi, I don't know whether it is coincedence, sod's law or normal but the WiFi on my Z1C at my work is absolutely rapid!!
I've just updated an app to test it, and it was at around 5MB's which is brilliant for me !
However, work WiFi is a 100MB's connection speed, where as at home I believe its around the 12MB's mark (geographic limitations in place here >.<).
From this I see only a couple of conclusions:
1 - Z1C and my home router just don't get along.
2 - As the WiFi speed is so much higher at work, so is the Z1C
or that theres no relation between the WiFi speed and my device but there is an issue with the Z1C WiFi itself?
I'm presuming its the first?
Thanks again!

Hi there,
I'm still on totally stock ROM.
I've done some testing and I believe it is on every router/internet but is very inconsistent. Sometimes its very speedy, others it will drop to almost unusable speeds.
I think I'ma just get rid of this terrible device, very disappointed in Sony. Here are some of my issues:
Phantom Touches
Unresponsive Touch Screen
Constant Crashes
Phone CONSTANTLY answers in Loudspeaker
Screen will not wake up
WiFi Speeds Totally Unusable

As for wifi issue, did you try disabling wifi optimization fetaure found in advanced settings?

Hey that's a new phone just so you know because this is not acceptable.
Not sure about reclaims in your country but it should be valid in most?
Mine did about the same as my PC/PS4 = 60-95MBps, that is until yesterday
Both bluetooth and wifi are stone cold dead so I though I should reflash my ROM(Aur) and rushed it when I realized whilst doing the same 'ol start guide for the hundreds time I forgot to flash recovery :victory::fingers-crossed:

Happens to the best of us
Got rid of my Z1C, and got an iPhone (SHOOT ME NOW).
I just couldn't get past the myriad of issues.
I've just recently bought the Canvas A1 and I don't know whether other people are facing this issue but my Wifi sometimes doesn't detect my router... after scanning/refreshing a few times, it then detects it.
No issue however with the other mobile which I am using.

Yes even I am facing this issue.
And I have also read this on many of the amazon review.
Thinking that Google might soon release a fix.
Currently either I need to turn off the phone to start the WiFi or I press the airplane mode and then it works.
I really do hope google fixes it cuz I think its a driver issue.
I've downloaded a third party wifi scanner app called wieye and this app seems to detect the network properly.
Thnx for the reply tho... now I dnt feel lonely
Wifi issue
Good to know that some folks are talking about wifi issue that I noticed too. I have been hunting Google to find reasons but no luck. Only solution that I could try was to re-bounce phone. Wifi is not detected after continuous usage for like 8-10 hours and the it goes in vein. Sad part is that you will have to check phone to know that it has gone offline. Looks software bug to me but giving that Android L is round the corner the bug should automatically be taken care, I doubt there is going to be Kitkat fix for it anyway....
The WiFi on my phone disconnects for about 2 seconds (every 15 minutes or so) for no reason at all. I have the same problem on EVERY single Android Pie ROM such as Lineage, Pixel Experience, AOSiP, AEX, etc. When the phone is in sleep mode the Wi-Fi will NOT reconnect, which means I constantly miss important notifications such as messages from friends. Also, when watching YouTube I keep seeing a message pop up saying 'Back Online' due to the WiFi disconnecting.
I have seen a couple of people on the forums with the same issue, but a solution has not yet been found. I know this is NOT a problem with my home broadband because I don't experience the same WiFi dropouts on other devices.
If anyone knows a solution to this problem, or just has a suggestion, PLEASE let me know as I would REALLY appreciate it.

Hi. Thanks for the response. I will keep that in mind, I can't remember whether I tried Carbon ROM before.
However I have to think this problem is related to something more specific than just ROM, because if this problem was present on all installations of these popular ROMs like Lineage, AEX and Pixel Experience (as I have tested in my own experience) then we would likely see a lot more complaints about it on the forums. So I think the issue is related to something to do with a certain setting or configuration.
It is a VERY frustrating problem because I can't leave my phone for 15 minutes without it disconnecting from WiFi and loosing access to notifications.
Not that this will help but in the past I had issues with Samsung OEM ROMs I flashed using ODIN (equivalent to our QFIL) a firmware from another country and for some reason even though technically my phone WAS compatible, I would have similar results to yours. If I were you I would back up all your data and try a few different QFIL to see if you have any luck. I flashed the LATEST QFIL (not using miflash etc) and have never had any issues with my zuk

Thanks for that. I agree it might be the cause of the issue, something like what you describe. It would make sense because I have only found 2 other people on XDA with the same issue, and the problem happens on every ROM I have tried. I have owned the ZUK Z2 since 2016 and only now, in these past 2-3 months, am I experiencing these problems with Wi-Fi disconnecting.
From what I can see the latest QPST is 3.5.389 ST, so I will try flashing that next week (once I'm back from vacation) and see what happens!

Well, I tried flashing the 3.5.389 ST QPST and then flashing LineageOS 16.0 on top of that, but the problem is still the same. Wi-Fi disconnects for a few seconds whilst using the device, and also whilst the device is in sleep mode. Except when it disconnects in sleep mode, it will NOT reconnect meaning I miss all kinds of notifications until I manually check my device.
The frustrating thing is I don't know for sure whether it's something to do with my home broadband or router. But all of my other devices (such as Windows laptop) STAY connected at the same time my ZUK looses connection. So I have to assume it is software-related on the ZUK.
If I can't solve this soon I will just go out and buy a new phone. I can't deal with missing important notifications. It is sad because I really liked this phone and have kept it for 2½ years. I don't understand why this problem suddenly started because it was fine before.

Well, I tried flashing the 3.5.389 ST QPST and then flashing LineageOS 16.0 on top of that, but the problem is still the same. After you flashed the QPST did you boot into the rom and try using oem zuk to see if it resolved your issue? Apparently that fixes quite a few problems but requires actually booting into the rom. If you flashed an official QTSP using deep flash (not miflash) anf it STILL has that problem then it must be internal hardware. Guessing you have tried connecting to someone elses wifi and it does the same?

Thanks. Well, sometimes I visit a relatives house where I can connect to a different router, but usually I am not there long enough to test whether the phone stays connected. But in response to your other question, I did boot into the ZUI ROM after flashing the QPST. But I didn't test to see whether the problem persisted because I hate ZUI and could never use it on a daily basis when there are other, much better stock Android-like ROMs available.
I was in contact with someone else on XDA who had the EXACT same problem and he suggested trying the latest build of AEX which seemed to solve the issue for him. So currently I'm trying that but I haven't had enough time to test it, yet. So far I have not noticed the phone disconnecting but it has only been about 1 hour since I flashed the ROM. I will know more after a few days of testing.
Switching to AEX made no difference. Still no success despite wiping entire device and flashing stock ROM with QFIL. I have tried almost every Android Pie ROM including LineageOS, AEX, AOSiP and Pixel Experience. I also changed channel on my broadband router. Nothing works.

Then it may be a hardware problem, the antenna wires can be disconnected or damaged. Have you tried a stock Rom?

After an entire year of this problem, I have FINALLY found a solution to my phone disconnecting whilst on home Wi-Fi. Turns out it is nothing to do with the phone or custom ROMs...
In the router settings there is an option called 'Enable IPv6 on LAN side' that is checked by default. I unticked this and now my phone is able to hold connection flawlessly!
