I'm using an HTC Sensation, and have been for about 2 years, when I got the phone I initially rommed Revolution on it, and have run into some issues with a few updates on apps etc due to it. It occasionally crashes if the Camera app is left open, or any other app that utilizes the camera. Recently I've been trying to get some new software on it, but even with factory resets and complete wipes in rom installs, I get infinite bootloops and can't figure out why. If I could get some assistance with this, that would be amazing..
Have you updated to the latest firmware ... 3.33...

I'm not sure if it is because this phone is second hand or if there is a software issue inside this Android flash, but when I bought the phone it was on stock Android 2.2.1 and had been factory reset as expected. However after using the phones features for half a day or so things started deteriorating (for example the settings app force closed), to combat this I did another factory reset and again things were still force closing, so I did yet another. Everything from this seems fine except now if I'm playing music through the stock player it appears after so long it force closes and won't work until the phone is restarted. When I get home I'll be flashing CM7 but I'm wondering what the problem could be. Any ideas?

I RMA'd my first GNex last August with a cracked screen, the one I got back had some problems:
Camera App crashes. Sometimes on startup, other times after a few seconds, and occasionally it doesn't crash until after I've been able to take a full photosphere, but usually the first two. It shows force close screen.
Netflix crashes after a few seconds to a few minutes. It does not show a force close screen, it just restarts the app.
Youtube won't load videos and when it does, it gives an error after a few seconds or minutes.
All flashlight/torch apps crash either on startup or after a few seconds.
I got tired of this, and didn't want to deal with Verizon's ****ty RMA service again, and since it seemed like it could be a software problem, I chose to root it and try to fix it with a custom ROM. I flashed CM9 and the problem persisted. Thinking it was too late to go back, I've just dealt with it until like a week ago.
Then I heard that a 4.2 update was coming to the VZW GNex, and returned to stock using this method (Would hyperlink, but don't have post count. It's the first result when you google, "Return to Factory State (Unroot and Relock) site:rootzwiki.com" without quotes. I flashed the JB files). Shockingly, the camera, Netflix, YouTube, and flashlight apps worked. However, when the 4.2 update came along, it broke everything again.
So that brings me to my questions:
Does anyone know of any way to fix this? Preferably without rerooting, but I'm still up for that if necessary.
Would I still be under warranty if I followed the linked method for unrooting?
EDIT: I'd also like to add that music playback is interrupted when either the camera or the flashlight app crashes.

I'm already stock...
To reiterate: About a week ago I unrooted and flashed a stock 4.1 rom that fixed everything. When I got the OTA update to 4.2 everything broke again.
I also just did this, and it worked for a minute or so, but the apps are back to crashing now.
Has anyome else recieved a stability update on the 8.4?
yes for the US SM-T320 8.4 but I'm getting random reboots. it was fine on the earlier version, never had any random reboots. I tried to factory reset after the update but still the same. it seems to do a soft random reboot when you are doing something on the tablet and you leave it idle for a few seconds. It never rebooted while I'm actively using it even if the load is high..

Mine says device modified, I am rooted - any workaround?
I'm currently uploading the new ND3 DeOdex ROM base now. (Tab Pro 8.4 Wi-Fi)
I will also upload the bootloader firmware (Odin flashable) too.
I managed to capture a logcat but I can't seem to identify the cause of reboots, can anyone assist with that pls...

TabPro 8.4 random restarts
Hello guys
So, it appears i am not alone then.
The school i work in as an IT tech, has purchased us 2 TabPro 8.4 tablets and the one i have has given me hell so far with these random reboots.
It has the latest update and is also rooted. It has nothing to do with the root i believe as it did it before and also after applying the latest OTA update. I have now factory reset it and noticed a slight difference in the home screen where i now have 2 pages (1 home screen of course) wheres, as far as i remember, when i first turned it on it only had 1. I may be wrong though.
I didn't sign in to any accounts yet (google, samsung dropbox etc.) and left it with Google chrome and Samsung own browser open. I suppose only time will tell now. It's really bloody frustrating though because i spent hours loading all my apps again and restoring app data via Helium etc.
Another thing i noticed is that even i after wiping the tablet via recovery (Wipe device/factory reset option) it actually kept root.
New device, issues gone
Got my replacement unit from John Lewis today (i must say their service is the best i have seen) and spent hours on the device rooting it and installing all the apps i had on my other unit.
I have not encountered one single reboot so far , whereas my previous unit restarted on me pretty much 30 minutes after i first turned it on.
My advice to you is if you are having stability issues and random restarts with your TabPro 8.4, send it back for a replacement.
I installed the update also and haven't had any issues or random reboots either. The screen sensitivity fixes are great. Huge difference.
I spoke too soon it seems. It did restart on me. Twice. Once whilst caching images on quickpic app and second time installing Samsung's own office suite of applications.

What is this? Stability or Instability update? Sammy, why?
anyone who doesn't suffer from Random reboots, are you rooted?
also those who suffer from reboots, are you all rooted?
My the Theory: I think this reboots are related to being rooted or have knox void.
Mine restarted before root but after I installed the OTA update. I since rooted it but it didn't change a thing obviously. God knows how many times it reboots a day. I leave it in airplane mode with a few apps running and after a couple of hours I notice that the apps that ran on the background are not there anymore so I figured out it restarted. is there anyway to uninstall the OTA update???

Stability update
Since reverting back to old version (and rooting the device again) i have suffered 0 random reboots. Looks like the latest update screws something up.

I have two 8.4's and they both boot when I wake them up. They are rooted with Xposed, but I uninstalled Xposed and tried one without it and it still boots at random. So IMO Xposed/root isn't causing the trouble.
See my other post... wonder if that'll fix this. I'd almost rather have the reboots over the screen sensitivity problem, but either way, the tabs aren't really usable.
Rich
I have used my tab pro 8.4 now for 5 days running on the old firmware rooted and with xposed running, without a single glitch. I'd strongly advise people to avoid updating the tablets to the latest ND3 firmware.

I purchased a tab pro 8.4 a few weeks ago and was noticing random reboots several times an hour. A couple of days later I got the update and didn't see any change in reboot behavior. Couldn't link it to anything at all as it happened before as well as after rooting and adding Xposed.
Changed to Average Joe's debloated (elsewhere in the forums) and have had zero random reboots since. Also running several exposed modules without any problems. Purely anecdotal, but it appears to have increased the overall responsiveness of the device while keeping most of the good things Samsung put on top of stock Android.
New update
Samsung released a new update to the TabPro 8.4 which is supposed to improve stability and add "Kids mode" (firmware version ending with NE3). I gave it a go and the random reboots got back! wiped my device clean and installed NAI firmware and all is well again!
I am currently running the latest build of the PacMan rom for my Sprint S3, but my problem didnt start there. As over the course of a few weeks my phone has been randomly crashing while running build 7 of Slimkat. It started crashing when i wanted to take a picture with the AOSP camera (when i hit the camera button and then it would shut off). Then it progressed to just crashing trying to use accuweather, or even when the screen was auto-rotating in my SMS app. So finally i just backed up my important bits and made a clean wipe into Wicked X 8.0 TW rom (because i'm on Ting and TW roms initially work on their network and wanted to export, or to just copy down the settings of, the APN xml to use in AOSP roms). After playing around with that for 20 minutes, i didn't experience any fc's or reboots. Though i did not use the camera in that time (i forgot to check). To which i then wiped it into PacMan rom that im at now. Which at the moment seems fine to do everything, except it will shut off if i want to OPEN the camera (doesn't let me use it at all). Plus i did have it crash once rotating with the play store up...
So im kinda lost, i wonder if this is just an issue with the camera in the rom, or if it might be a bigger issue with the phone itself. As ive been having the same random error's with two roms and i dont see anyone having FC's with pacman rom with the camera.
more testing done
So i have also attempted to odin completely back to stock and i have a stock rooted rom with nothing touched. The sudden shut-offs still happen and occur randomly. I installed logcat and what seems to be throwing error's is the accelerometer. Plus at first when i flash a new rom it seems to work ok with no problems for the first day, then suddenly start showing symptoms the next. Plus ive had it shut off during bootup too while going through the sprint 4g animation screen. Though i have not had it die on me in recovery, so thats a thing.... Plus it will rotate no problem half the time, and then ive seen it die rotating to use my keyboard.
So at this point i feel like its actually a hardware option. If it is the accelerometer, is it easy to fix (i guess re solder the connections if they're broke?)? or should i just try and replace the main board?
Hello everyone,
A few weeks ago I was running an optimized version of CM 12.1 on my TMobile Galaxy S4 (this one) http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/exclusive-antaresone-alucard24-s-t3066696
It was working completely fine until I downloaded and installed an OTA update for it, and ever since then my phone has been acting wonky (not sure if updating actually caused it, but it happened around the same time)
Some of the problems included:
- Phone consistently crashing/freezing. I need to reboot multiple times a day to get over it.
- Soundcloud sometimes doesn't work. Usually it just doesn't load even though I have LTE, and other times it shows the song is playing but I don't hear anything. After a hard reboot, it works temporarily. Phone also crashes occasionally when I open Soundcloud
- Youtube also sometimes doesn't work. It's the same problem where it doesn't load even though I'm in WiFi. Also crashes occasionally when I open it
- Music player sometimes doesn't play songs I have saved
After experiencing all this, I took it as an omen to upgrade my ROM so I downloaded and flashed Resurrection Remix 6.0 for my S4 and I experienced the same problems. As a final straw, I downloaded and flashed a rooted stock 4.4.2 firmware (which I'm running now). The phone doesn't crash as much thankfully but I still have problems with Soundcloud, Youtube, music player, and just persistent freezing.
My phone was fully functional and suddenly I experienced this array of problems. If anybody can help me out or point me in a right direction, I'd be incredibly grateful as I love this phone and I don't want to abandon it (well...until the S7 comes out)

Okay, thank you very much I'm downloading it as we speak.
I was wondering if you have any idea of what the cause of these problems are as I'm looking to experiment with more ROMs in the near future but I don't want to make the same mistake again.

Can be a variety of things depending if you tweak stuff, install xposed, etc.
Generally if you make sure to do full wipes between roms you should be OK...
One more thing to check might be your microSD card. They can go bad on occasion. Try running without or with a different one and see if issues persist.

i noticed this with my s4 as well, but mine has to do with the sim card error. when i'm on stock tw 4.4.4 i rarely get a sim card error. then i flash other roms and i get the sim card error more frequently. for instance i just installed the Resurrection Remix rom last night an i've already experienced the sim card error at least 6 times already. i really like this rom so i'll have to deal with it, but if it gets the error too frequently, i don't mind going back to stock KK 4.4.4.
