Hello everyone,
A few weeks ago I was running an optimized version of CM 12.1 on my TMobile Galaxy S4 (this one) http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/exclusive-antaresone-alucard24-s-t3066696
It was working completely fine until I downloaded and installed an OTA update for it, and ever since then my phone has been acting wonky (not sure if updating actually caused it, but it happened around the same time)
Some of the problems included:
- Phone consistently crashing/freezing. I need to reboot multiple times a day to get over it.
- Soundcloud sometimes doesn't work. Usually it just doesn't load even though I have LTE, and other times it shows the song is playing but I don't hear anything. After a hard reboot, it works temporarily. Phone also crashes occasionally when I open Soundcloud
- Youtube also sometimes doesn't work. It's the same problem where it doesn't load even though I'm in WiFi. Also crashes occasionally when I open it
- Music player sometimes doesn't play songs I have saved
After experiencing all this, I took it as an omen to upgrade my ROM so I downloaded and flashed Resurrection Remix 6.0 for my S4 and I experienced the same problems. As a final straw, I downloaded and flashed a rooted stock 4.4.2 firmware (which I'm running now). The phone doesn't crash as much thankfully but I still have problems with Soundcloud, Youtube, music player, and just persistent freezing.
My phone was fully functional and suddenly I experienced this array of problems. If anybody can help me out or point me in a right direction, I'd be incredibly grateful as I love this phone and I don't want to abandon it (well...until the S7 comes out)
ODIN back to stock with the full firmware.

Okay, thank you very much I'm downloading it as we speak.
I was wondering if you have any idea of what the cause of these problems are as I'm looking to experiment with more ROMs in the near future but I don't want to make the same mistake again.

Can be a variety of things depending if you tweak stuff, install xposed, etc.
Generally if you make sure to do full wipes between roms you should be OK...
One more thing to check might be your microSD card. They can go bad on occasion. Try running without or with a different one and see if issues persist.

i noticed this with my s4 as well, but mine has to do with the sim card error. when i'm on stock tw 4.4.4 i rarely get a sim card error. then i flash other roms and i get the sim card error more frequently. for instance i just installed the Resurrection Remix rom last night an i've already experienced the sim card error at least 6 times already. i really like this rom so i'll have to deal with it, but if it gets the error too frequently, i don't mind going back to stock KK 4.4.4.

Good day,
I have unpleasant problem at my I9190. Every 5-7 minutes my device becomes to lag for 4-5 seconds. It doesn't matter if you watch a film or Youtube, play games, or just work with the interface. Every time periodically an image becomes to lag, but sound continues to work without problem. I tried to make wipes but it doesn't help. Also I tried to reinstall stock rom. Can somebody describe what is the reason of it? Root or what?
My previous I9190 (was changed because of the problems with screen) works without these glitches.
Appreciate if you will help me, these lags are really annoying.
Sounds like some hardware is causing those intermittent freezes. If you are certain reverting to stock everything and flashing in custom ROM + kernel still causes the issue then you might need to send the device in again.
I tried to flash CyanogenMod for interest and lags dissapear. After returning to stock they appeared again. Can't understand the reason, really. I tried to use smartphone with and without sim, with and without external card, with and without root, the result is the same. The only thing I can think that one of stock apps or processes makes these problems but who knows..
I was running the SGH-i747M with CWM 6.0.4.7 and testing out some 4.4.2 ROMs, I got another phone to play with now and I gave this one to my girlfriend but she doesn't like nightlies so I was trying to install a 4.2.2 or 4.3.1 stable ROM and they won't work. I read online that it might be due to the CWM being too new because it's support is for Android 4.4.x. So I downgraded CWM and that didn't work either. I ended up convincing her that nightlies aren't that bad and shes currently running Carbon but she hates flashing the new nightlies so I do it for her every few days or so. I've noticed though that this phone is acting up really weird since I tried to downgrade CWM and then install the current one again. Sometimes it reboots at random, I gave the phone to her with BAM 2.0 RC2 (I know, shame on me), and that was horrid, so I tried CyanogenMod and that was "okay" but she said it's boring and she wants more features, so I switched it to Carbon because that's what I'm running on my SGH-i317M and she seems to like that, but it's still acting really weird.
When I was using the SGH-i747M while I was waiting for the new display to come in the mail for my SGH-i317M, I was running BAM and the only thing was it was a battery hog, and ocasionally I would get a "blame tyler" error for some things but it was never repeatable, I switched to Carbon and I was running completely stable on the nightlies, I used it for my day to day and not one problem, after switching over to my SGH-i317M now running CarbonROM, still flawless, not a single problem, fast, good battery life, signal strength is always good, but the phone I was on, running the same ROM, is now glitchy as hell and she's talking about getting an iPhone 5S now.. guys you gotta help me here, I just got her to give up her iPhone 4 for this S3 I gave her, I need this phone working, it is a critical situation lol.
The camera app will take one picture, then the screen will freeze and when I close the app, it opens right back up with the same picture, when I completely close the app, it opens up saying can not conect to camera and the only solution is to reboot the phone. It randomly reboots on it's own some times, the battery doesn't last more then a few hours (between 2 to 3 hours depending on use and when I was using it on Carbon, I got 30 hours off of a single charge once, but the average was around 20 hours of use before it would die) and she was telling me while she's on high brightness but never full brightness, the phone gets really hot so there's something wrong from when I flashed an old CWM using Odin, and then flashed it back to the current one.
So how can I do some kind of full wipe everything and make everything better procedure? Does this exist yet? Is it a real thing?
I'm thinking some kind of recovery wipe, completely wipe everything except the boot loader so I can install a fresh copy of CWM using Odin, and then some kind of AOSP ROM that's stable but I think she likes Carbon now so we might just stick with the nightlies as long as these random force closes and random reboots stop, and the camera works, I mean, you can't instagram without a camera, so that makes this phone nearly useless for her. One picture, freezes, reboot the phone, opens picture from gallery, then hipsters it out, then shares it.. not exactly the seamless method she was looking for lol
Please help guys, I really don't want to see another iPhone laying around the house.. ugh..
I am currently running the latest build of the PacMan rom for my Sprint S3, but my problem didnt start there. As over the course of a few weeks my phone has been randomly crashing while running build 7 of Slimkat. It started crashing when i wanted to take a picture with the AOSP camera (when i hit the camera button and then it would shut off). Then it progressed to just crashing trying to use accuweather, or even when the screen was auto-rotating in my SMS app. So finally i just backed up my important bits and made a clean wipe into Wicked X 8.0 TW rom (because i'm on Ting and TW roms initially work on their network and wanted to export, or to just copy down the settings of, the APN xml to use in AOSP roms). After playing around with that for 20 minutes, i didn't experience any fc's or reboots. Though i did not use the camera in that time (i forgot to check). To which i then wiped it into PacMan rom that im at now. Which at the moment seems fine to do everything, except it will shut off if i want to OPEN the camera (doesn't let me use it at all). Plus i did have it crash once rotating with the play store up...
So im kinda lost, i wonder if this is just an issue with the camera in the rom, or if it might be a bigger issue with the phone itself. As ive been having the same random error's with two roms and i dont see anyone having FC's with pacman rom with the camera.
more testing done
So i have also attempted to odin completely back to stock and i have a stock rooted rom with nothing touched. The sudden shut-offs still happen and occur randomly. I installed logcat and what seems to be throwing error's is the accelerometer. Plus at first when i flash a new rom it seems to work ok with no problems for the first day, then suddenly start showing symptoms the next. Plus ive had it shut off during bootup too while going through the sprint 4g animation screen. Though i have not had it die on me in recovery, so thats a thing.... Plus it will rotate no problem half the time, and then ive seen it die rotating to use my keyboard.
So at this point i feel like its actually a hardware option. If it is the accelerometer, is it easy to fix (i guess re solder the connections if they're broke?)? or should i just try and replace the main board?
Hi there,
I have been using the CloudyG3 2.5 ROM on my G3 (D-855) for the past month and something strange is happening to the phone. I must admit, the phone fell of a couple of days ago, but this shouldn't have any relation to my issues. All of a sudden, the sound just stopped working everywhere, even when I use the Music Player it gives me a Playback error and the Messaging and Phone Apps crash all the time. Even ''system'' crashes. Then I decided to use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 and flashed a stock ROM. This did not solve the issues with sound and Messaging and Phone crashing all the time. I have a SIM card in the phone but it doesn't allow me to make phone calls, it just hangs. Weirdly enough, I get mobile internet and full bars of reception everywhere I go. WiFi also works fine.
Please help a brother out, I really don't know what to do at this point!
Kind Bump
Tried different stock and custom ROMS, but the same processes and apps crash, mainly System process and com.android.phone.
Anyone have a clue? I am really stuck as I can't use my phone for anything.
I have the D851 LG G3 phone that crashes on every media app that uses sound and it does this on every ROM I tried. This originally happened while running Lollipop. The phone automatically restarted while I was browsing the internet one day (I think) and when it turned back on, it no longer produced any sound through the speaker or the headphone output (no music, no alarms, no ringtones, etc). I later realized that the phone dialer would crash every time I'd try to dial a number. The phone would make a call but you could not hear or be heard on the other end, then the dialar would crash. Video players, music players, YouTube and similar apps would either not produce media or would crash all together. But the phone worked flawlessly in every other aspect. After trying many things, I did a factory reset thinking that it would definitely fix the issue but I was wrong. The phone kept doing the same thing. At that point I thought that the issue might be with a kernel or the radio or something outside the operating system so I rooted the phone and began trying different ROMs. At first I reverted back to Kit-Kat then I tried Cloudy then a few de-bloated custom Lollipops and I even tried flashing CM13 Marshmallow but non these got my phone working. I now essentially have a phone that can't call but can message, take pictures and run non-media apps and I'm desperate to fix it but I have no clue of what to do next. Does this sound familiar to anyone and what can I try next? Could this be a hardware issue?(although a hardware issue I think would seem to yield more severe glitches) Any help is very appreciated. Thanks!
I also have the same problem. Did you find any solutions?

Thanks for your answer, I have updated to MM but I dont think that I can flash that kernel, my version of the LG G3 is the G3 beat D722p, I am currently uzing CM13, I also tried the Xosp, in both cases the problem doesn't disappear.
Im sorry but there hasnt been any development for ur model ur best bet is to try flashing firmware stock or custom otherthan that i really dont know
