[Q] Stock Messaging App Issue After 4.3 Update - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello fellow members , is it just me or has anybody has this issue when your on official GT-N7100 4.3 update ?
as comparing my S4 and my Note II stock messaging up , the Note II's fonts are big , i mean seriously big even when the settings on font is set to " tiny " , bystanders around me when commuting can read what i've been texting to my contacts without effort as the fonts are really big ..
is there any way to reduce it's size to be as big as what's the font size on the app icon's names when on the menu ?

actually i got irritated by the default big font even when set to tiny. what i did was i changed my screen dpi to 240.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

how did you do that ? or can i just change the dpi in the messaging app and not the other apps ? cause higher dpi means bettee colors right ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Have you try to press volume up/down button ? It will resize txt in message app
Please press thx button if I have help you !
(Sorry for my bad english..)

yeah already pressed the volume button but the tiniest size available seems to big for me ..
what i did was install xposed framework and changed the dpi of the messaging app to 240 ..
now my problem's solved .. thanks guys

Lower dpi?

I set my dpi on this phone to 240 and I LOVE it and the market still works fine so far! Just wondering how i can mod the dialer/camera to fit the 240 dpi. And also the stock keyboard dosent work but i dont care much about that i use swiftkey 3.
Shame the standard keyboard doesn't work, I really like it.
As to the dialer? hmm, probably need to get a replacement for that too, shame it doesn't scale either. Someone can probably hack the .apk to allow different dpi's perhaps?
What app did you use to change your density it would be cool to do that with this ginormous screen

Change the value for ro.sf.lcd_density in the build.prop. You can do this with apps like ROM Toolbox Pro.
I was running 240 as well, and loved it but the camera, dialer and Samsung keyboard issues bugged me enough to go back to 320.
I have mine set at 270 and everything, including dialer and camera works great.

That's the magic number? Excellent.
I love the 270 dpi but how do I or am I able to get the launcher to not be so high into the middle of the screen... Like the dots to show what page ur on is raised to the middle of the screen

use a different launcher. I use nova
So no suggestions for dialers or camera mods that fix the scaling issues. They are better at 270 but not perfect.
Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001143
it's on the Sprint Note II forum but I flashed them and they all work well.
soapbox23, what rom are you using? I am on Jexi-X4 and it doesnt work...
Found this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002960
Works very well at 240 dpi, it has most of the system apps fixed that dont scale well. Need to flash keyboard zip in the QA page though for 240 dpi.

Open play store, go to Google calendar, then hold the phone very close to your face - the font should appear larger.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

LOL, does this post won the best joke on xda award? No the award goes to some one else
For the OP to make font bigger on GB you need to use the latest GB first(2.3.6) go to settings==>accessibility==>font size.

Miui + Stock Samsung Keyboard + DPI changing Problem... Any clue?

Hey there!
So I installed MIUI now which is quiet beautiful. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut.... I'm coming from another ROM and used to have my device for a year @ 180dpi - 220dpi. Now... this is just... ugly. The default is set to !!!320DPI!!!. Everything is so big, my grandma could easily hit every icon without her glasses.
So I tried to change the dpi to 220 using Rom toolbox, the only problem: stock keyboard
I really really like the samsung stock keyboard and now that it is back because of MIUI I don't wanna really miss it. I use the numbers really often and it's handy to have a number line just at the top.
>> Is it possible to have a Samsung Stock Keyboard working at 220DPI without any blank gaps and force closes?
Thanks alot!
Use the 240dpi one from bala_gamers thread.

Try this for keyboard http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=&d=1366489557 also when you change the DPI in Miui you will notice that the frame layout of the home screen and settings menu are out of place.

Sir the link to keyboard doesn't work. Do you have an alternative?

Hey buddy , how were you able to bring down the screen dpi to 180 - 220. I am currently using cm 10.1.3 on the note 2 n7100 but i am unable to change the screen dpi. the entire rom looks ugly on the 320 dpi. Just a waste of screen space. Could you help me with the steps you took to reduce the screen dpi from 320 to say 240 or lesser...?

[INFORMATORY PURPOSE] xposedGEL settings module

So guys..i know this is maybe something you all know, (as this module has also been on portal), but still if someone dont know/tried then i would recommend them this.
XposedGEL settings module..
Module which many of us always awaited for...
We can now tweak google experience launcher like hell(including icon size).
Best part is that it doesn't make icons blurr.... @ Sulaimanshariff @Parth2187 and many friends out there love using small dpi..(our dev @xenon92 provides by default 180 lets not forget , coz it looks cool..but Google experience launcher icons are blur kinda)
Many options are there..just try urself...just an informatory thread ..

first change ur dpi to 240(normal) from build then change icon size from this app...this will make all apps 240 dpi and this app 240 too but with small icons ).......btw..if u want all apps small, then use app settings and make only google app 240 dpi! and then use this app...all apps will be small (as in build prop), but google now will be 240 dpi due to app setting..this will make icons not blurr.........i have no blurr icons..using it!! try it...
make everything 240 dpi..and use this app...or use app setting to make google search 240 dpi and use this app(if u want others apps small too)..

[Q] What dpi are you using ?

I'm running 240 dpi (stock is 320) the note 2 has a great screen but isn't utilised my 320 dpi.
To run in 240dpi mode I did this.
You must be rooted.
Download texdroider dpi from play store.
You also need exposed
Download app settings module from exposed.
Open app settings
Change the following
Calculator
camera
contacts
photo editor
radio
voice recorder
Gallery
Click the one you want to change
At the top of the screen slide the toggle switch to the right to activate it.
Enter 320 for the dpi
Form the drop down box for screen dp pick 800x1280
Click on save on the top right.
Do this for all apps in the list and for any other apps that fc or don't fit the screen in 240 dpi mode.
Download apex launcher and import your current launcher settings (so you keep all your folders / icons) (touchwiz launcher doesn't work in 240dpi but apex looks and acts the same)
Open texdroider and enter 240 for new dpi.
Hit apply then reboot phone.
Your phone is in 240 dpi mode.
You can now change the amount of icons you want on your home screen as well as other settings for apex launcher.
7 icons down and 6 across works best for me.
(the settings i changed in apex settings are
homescreen
portrait grid 7x6
icon size 110%
Dock settings
icon size 130%
Advanced settings
keep in memory ticked)
You can also download play store fixes for exposed to submit a normal density to google play store
I also have apex notifier and missed it for notifications
I think that's everything

I used dn3 v5.2 full 240dpi..its look great..but i don't use launcher at all..just use touchwiz..
