Lag may be due to limited storage capacity.
I had lags in my N7'12 but once i cleared some space, Asphalt was smooth!
Nexus 7 (2013) is about twice faster in games over 2012 version. (google benchmarks, everything is here)
Adreno 320 is crushing Tegra 3 pretty badly, and better CPU helps with that too.

Hello, I have a question. Is the Nexus 7 2013 so weak device? Why GTA San Andreas and Vice City are so laggy? I don't understand. Is the original Nexus 7 are better for gaming than New Nexus 7? Should i sell my nexus 7? Because i want play games
These GTA games are not optimized for Adreno GPU's. You should get the Tegra Note 7, if gaming is your primary concern.

But is the Nexus 7 2013 inappropriate for gaming? I'm talking not about only GTA series, i'm talking about all good games with nice graphics. And Maybe Rockstar optimize GTA San Andreas and Vice City For adreno 320 gpu?

Can someone ask this questions?
In my opinion the Nexus 7 is not bad at all for gaming. Especially with the price/performance ratio in mind. I can play modern games like GTA SA on medium settings with no problems at all
it is a really good device man, the problem is that we have a really high resolution (too much pixels per inch) and rockstar did not optimize for adreno 320 gpu.
my brother owns a hp slate 7 with mali400 (it sucks) but gta runs smoothly.
In my opinion the Nexus 7 2 is a pretty good device for gaming combined with a great system performance in general.
If there is a game that lags a bit on highest settings you can still overclock the device by changing and configuring its kernel to improve the gaming experience.
Hi guys !!
I have a problem with my new nexus 7(2013). When I play GTA VICE CITY on N7 on full graphic the game runs slowly. Then I play GTA VC on my old nexus 7 (2012) and the game runs without any lagg. What's wrong
Rom: 4.4.2
No root.
GTA games are not optimised for Adreno GPU's due to Nvidia's Tegra douchebaggery.

You can ,but it will be very laggy. Optimization is not the best part in GTA games for Qualcomm's devices.
.
Ok, but GTA VC loads faster as that nexus 7 2012.
why i have low fps when im playing asphalt 8 i have sm-t520 10.1 4.4.2 ??

same here...
I tried asphalt 8 and the FPS was very low... I was very disapointed.
but I'm pretty sure the problem is software related (this game is not optimized for the device), because I installed NFS most wanted and I was blown away with the graphics and smoothness of the game. If you like a good racing game similar (even better in my opinion) to asphalt 8, I highly recommend that you install NFS most wanted.:good:
Has none else noticed the abysmal drop in FPS for games while running lollipop? For example, I like to play Kritika (Play Store), but the frame rate has dropped a bit since 5.0.2, and dropped MUUUUUCH more while running 5.1. This is NOT a rom issue...it even made me revert to KitKat for a little bit, and there is definitely a difference.
Unfortunately for me, I do see the difference in the speed while navigating through apps on lollipop. Any suggestions? I am currently overclocked to 1.7GHz, but I don't even like to do that. I didn't have to while using KK.
Some apps are not optimised for Nexus 7 2013 Lollipop. Example : some 3D games work like we play on a 2009 device (Minion Rush, Kritika, Vainglory Beta, Dead Trigger 2, etc.) and some 3D games work flawlessly ( Brothers in Arms 3, Modern Combat 5, Dungeon Hunter 5, Asphalt 8, Subway Surfers, etc.) . I had also the impression that Lollipop is to blame but if it was, then none of those graphically intense 3D games would of worked. Some games at first they were unplayable but they got optimised quickly for Nexus 7 2013.
In conclusion: stay with KitKat for guaranteed performance in all games or stay with Lollipop and hope that those devs that are just stubborn people because even after over half an year since Lollipop has been released, some of the games are still not optimised for Nexus 7 2013 even if you email them.
On my Nexus, World of Tanks runs ~57 FPS on 4.4.4 and ~ 19 FPS on 5.x
Hi. I recently bought a Galaxy Nexus off of Ebay, because my old phone broke. It was only $50, and I saw it as a great deal.
I'm curious about how it will be able to handle today's games, specifically:
-Dead Trigger 2
-Asphalt 8: Airborne
-Modern Combat 4 or 5
-Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies
-Riptide GP2
-Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
-Mortal Kombat X
If you have any first-hand experiences or predictions on how smooth the games will run, please post them below. Thanks

San Andreas and dead trigger 2 run, not perfectly but good enough. That is all I got to try on mine.

Real Racing 3 running really nice and smooth on latest stable CM9 with cmplus kernel, and overclocked to 1420ghz runs even better, and dont heat up like CM11.
On CM11 , Real Racing 3 runs very laggy!
From that game list I tried Modern Combat 4 and 5 and Riptide GP 2. Modern Combat 4 runs at a decent framerate with occasionally hiccups but rarely and Riptide GP 2 runs smooth. I tried Modern Combat 5 but the graphics where somehow downgraded ans it looked a bit awful. It was running pretty good with hiccups for a bit and laggy in intensive scenes. Im running Lollipop 5.1 overclocked at 1.5Ghz but sometimes it overheats around the camera. Might be the software too but not sure. I think GNex is a great device even though its pretty old
