[Q] Advanced Power Menu - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

downloaded apm from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383059
it wasn't marked as closed in the Repo so I (albeit in hindsight rather naively) assumed it was still in dev. well i flashed it on 4.4 krt16o and now i'm stuck on the bootanimation, what do i do now without doing a full restore?

1. Power down by holding in the power button till the N7 shuts down.
2. Boot into your custom recovery by holding down both the power button and up volume button till you see your recovery flash screen.
3. Then either flash your nandroid back up you hopefully made before flashing the v4.3 advance power control or if you didn't make a backup dirty flash your KitKat ROM zip.
This should get you backup and running.

Help Booting up loop / need to get in recovery help!

Ok i had a rooted phone,
and installed rom manager it was also flashed to cricket wirelss also.
anyways i decided to try and install the cm7
So i did and before that i made a back up via rom manager app
And so i updated and it installed
and now when i turn on phone
It stays at the cyanogen mod 7 with icon blue icon screen
and circle thing
How do i boot into recovery menu????
I had the latest recovery menu also,
I NEED HELp i just want to restore my backup from before.
First off you should power it off completely, then hold the power button and volume down at the same time. Next, you need to navigate the bootloader and go down(with volume down key) and select recovery with the power key. That should take you to recovery. I hope you made a nandroid before you flash another rom; if you did just restore your nandroid and you should be good to go.

Galaxy Nexus unable to boot to recovery.

Hello,
I have a Galaxy Nexus GSM. I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader using Galaxy Nexus toolkit a while ago, and flashed the 4.1.1 stock ROM (Build number JRO03C). Yesterday i received a notification for a system update to 4.1.2. I hit download, phone rebooted into recovery, i chose to flash the rom and everything seemed fine, however i'm still on the older version 4.1.1. Now, when i try to boot my phone into recovery (VOL_DOWN & Power Button) it shows me the boot screen and says "Downloading, please do not turn off" and i can't do anything. If I hit the power button again the phone reboots normally. Any ideas what I can do?
Sorry if I am at the wrong section.

Volume down and power is the key combo for Odin download mode. You want volume up, volume down, and power. This will take you into the bootloader. From there, you can use volume up/down to scroll to recovery and press power to load into recovery.
That used to happen to me.....I later realised that it's Coz of the update....well simply return to the previous version of the app and re-flash without the upgrade. Hope it helps u out too.

Thanks a lot! So how can I restore the Odin mode from applying the update? Reflash the ROM?

Look at the stickies in the general forum. There is one for flashing an OTA & one for flashing a stock ROM, take your pick

[Q] goto TWRP from a wiped device

Hi All,
Repost since I posted this question in the wrong forum before. Sorry for the spam.
I tried to flash my E980 (already rooted and running Carbon ROM nightly build 10/10/2013) with the latest ROM nightly build 10/24/2013.
When in TWRP 2.5.0.0, I wiped everything except the external SD, added 10/24/2013 build image, gapps, and modem zips and hit install rom.
The flashing stopped due to error saying the MD5 signature of the build image zip is bad.
Now I am left with a device with no OS installed. When I power it on, after the initial LG logo flash, nothing happens.
Would you please tell me how to get back into the recovery mode? Thanks a lot.
I have re-downloaded the ROM zip and put it in the external SD.
At this stage, do I have to use LG flash tool to flash the factory ROM first, then do root,...? Or can I flash the custom ROM directly.
Flash the ROM in cwm directly

Do this
To boot into recovery do this.
Switch off by removing battery,
Re-insert battery,
now hold vol up+home+power button at same time n release it when u see LG logo. This will boot into recovery.
Wipe data and flash the ROM.
Good luck
Edit: I'm not sure if it's vol up or vol down. It's one of those though. Getting into recovery is bit tricky. But I have done it before. If it fails remove the battery again and try once again.

StarkV5, thanks a lot!
It is "volume up + home + power". Returned to TWRP 2.6.1.0 recovery and flashed 20131104 CM10.2 today. Everything works smoothly except that the screen touch issue in TWRP. The touch calibration was spot on during the first use after TWRP install. After a reboot, the touch is so off. It is like working with a 960*540 screen, i.e. the top left quadrant of the E980 screen.
Thank you (and Neroga too) again!

How to get into recovery from g2 apps rom v5?

Posting here since I can not post on the development board yet.
F240L here, coverted it to e988 using the g2 apps rom v5 and i'm pretty happy with it but had some questions.
1. How do I get into recovery? Should I use the recovery app in the utility apps folder? Or is it safer to get into recovery when booting up?
2. Can I update to v5.5 from v5? Or do I have to go back to stock and then go to v5.5? Im guessing going back to my backup before flashing the rom would work, but it would be nicer if I could skip that step.
Any answers would be appreciated, thanks!
You can boot into recovery with whatever apps in utility folder, freegee offers a reboot function too. I don't think there is such a thing as it is safer to boot into recovery from powered off, I forgot the key combination for booting into recovery from powered off . You don't have to go back to stock to "upgrade" to v5.5. You probably won't see much improvement , also there's been report of instability of the v5.5 build.
For boot into cwm: volume up, home and power off/on button

Thanks for the replies, guess I'll hold off on changing to v5.5 then.

Suffice to say it would be safe for you as well to know how to boot to recovery manually, especially when in bootloop situations. On my part I'm able to boot to recovery by 1.) pressing and holding both Vol. Up button and Power button, up until LG Logo appears then 2.) Once the LG screen disappears, i just constantly press Vol. down button twice then Power button afterwards. If the LG Logo re-appears i just keep on doing step 2.
As for g2 apps v5.5 rom, i just flashed it today,i'll try to be your notify you of any glitches i may encounter

Can't install OTA after flashing back to stock

flashed back to stock but the ota wont install. When the tablet boots into recovery, I get a 'no command' error. Tried the volume up and power but that reboots into the same page. I tried reflashing the stock rom and just flashing the bootloader and recovery files but no luck. I'm not looking to root or customize the tablet, just keep it stock. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
I'm having the same issue.

You're flashing an older image and trying to take an ota? Why? Just flash the latest image.

Because there is a new ota update not integrated in last published 6.0 factory image. With netflix and something else fix, sized 2.2 mb.
Got mine to install. Was able to get into stock recovery. Boot into bootloader, (reboot, hold down power and volume down buttons), select recovery. When you get to the android screen with the red triangle, hold the power button and touch the volume up button. Takes you to recovery. I wiped the cache and rebooted, then was able to take the ota.

Thanks. That worked perfectly. Ha, I have always been rooted and using twrp. That was the first time I actually used the stock recovery for something.
