Gotta have The New Hotness. Working pretty damn well too.
MMuzzy 4.2
I waited for people to be my guinea pigs, read their many complaints, and then stuck with 4.1.2. I suggest Minco for a stable, problem free rooted ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790532
i am sticking with 4.1.2. i need to be able to hear my phone ring and the sound mod i use doesnt work with 4.2. also im not a fan of the new lockscreen on 4.2
One of the reasons I bought a Nexus was to get the stock Android experience and get the newest updates upon release. First I didn't really look into rooting and flashing, while I was on 4.1.2, so I didn't have anything to lose if I went to 4.2. Now I finally started trying out ROM's and stuff so next update it will be more difficult to take the step.
Yeah. Rooting and ROMming opens up a whole world of possibilities, especially for Nexus devices. Nice userpic BTW . Heisenberg ftw.
Still on DarkPA 2.54 for now.
Got 4.2 OTA the day it was released and am sorry I did. Had some custom shell scripts set up to mount and bind my USB stick on my rooted N7 and they no longer work. Even the updated stickMount app is flakey at best. Probably going back to 4.1.2 soon if someone can't figure out how to work around the new "security" features of 4.2.

Huh... I think while 3rd party apps are still catching up, 4.2 is pretty stable itself. Ran a short test, 253h uptime. Buttery smooth.

Pshh. Who needs that? hahahahahahahahaha
I jumped onto 4.1 as soon as a ROM was released. I sceptical on moving into 4.2. From what I have heard I might not be moving for a while.

Well, I like stability... therefore I chose to update to 4.2! Lol I'm running a Rom that has linaro tweaks built into it and it is great! I don't have any of the bugs that stock 4.2 experiences. I love bleeding edge and so does everyone who owns a Nexus! Isn't that the point of owning one?!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Tried stock 4.2 and thought it was really good. Stable and smooth! But couldn't get the mods I wanted. I would normally keep flashing as ROMs are updated, flashing was ridden with problems with /0/0/0 and the like. I know there is a workaround, but I'd rather wait until this is all sorted through. Flashing is supposed to be fun - not give me a headache!
Sticking with bugless beast 4.1.2 with trinity kernel. woohoo

using Xylon atm and its pretty nice, plus has alot of customization option so i dont have any reason to stay on 4.1.2

I think your poll need an extra option.

As much as I want to move forward with 4.2. I'm still waiting on more ROMs to show up and give more time for 4.2 to blend in. Still some issues with it so I could wait on 4.1.2 as of now. Everything is working so ain't in a rush. I am running 4.2 apps though on my VZW GN.

Any talented developers out there willing to build a Paranoid android rom for the OGP? Anyone one else wants to see if on our lovely device?

I saw a guild how to port from cm to paranoid. I tried but couldn't get past the bootloop. Maybe it would work better after cm is completely working.
here is the link if anyone is interested. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232773

That's the key. A lot of other ROMs are forks from CM, so once you have CM working, it's not a big jump to get to AOKP, Paranoid, MIUI or whatever.
Doesn't the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One share the same SoC? Not that I know anything about developing but I assumed it would be slightly easier to port ROM's to our device.
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah the more roms the better, I'm still a greenhorn myself but hopefully someone better comes along when CM10 is stable.

It looks like our phone, along with the other galaxy s2 lineup will not receive the official 4.2.2 update.

Old news. Would not be surprised if the international Exynos SII gets the update, but Qualcomm does not support 4.2 on our aged S3 chipset.

Keeping up with so many version
I choose to keep 4.2.2 until stable version of 4.3 is available. I hate trying new ones when so many things don't work. I feel for the developers who have to keep pace and do so much work. Very appreciated! :good:

I have been using 4.3 ROMs for a few days now with no issue. Is there anything in particular that doesn't work that I'm unaware of?

If they "didn't work" the devs would take them down or not put them up in the first place. Are there some bugs here and there? Yes. Read the threads for those.

Of course. I was just wondering if there were any kernel limitations or major bugs that were not ROM specific, or just in CM10.2.
I am not waiting for 4.2.2 tw. The only thing better about tw is the camera app, but it is a phone so it not like we are getting get pics anyway. Running carbon 4.3, very stable and smooth.

I'm curious how it is that we have to many custom 4.2.2 rom for the Hercules, yet the graphics driver is not supported?? Did Cyanogen and other rom developers somehow find a way to port the old Qualcomm drivers to other versions of android? Or are we just using the previous 4.1.2 drivers somehow. Either way the statement that the update is somehow incompatible with our device is purely garbage. Truth be told, it is simply a way to sell more devices, at least it is for those who are not willing to flash custom ROMs. For the rest of us there is 4.3 on a device that began as a gingerbread device, which is awesome. Now bring on the KitKat, because I'm sure our device can rock some 4.4 just as well.

Not a dev so these questions are over my head, but I am curious about the answers as well. And if they Key lime pie (kitkat) rumors are true about it being less spec hungry then it might just be the best running version of Android to grace our phones.

Hello,
I saw on developers forum Android KitKat , I installed it and it was not like on picture of google.
So i am wandering When will be official Android 4.4 ?
TNX
Our phone won't get the official update. Google has dropped support for the GNEX

Lol, wait couple months you might get a stable unofficial version of kitkat, gnex is old an outdated now so best upgrading to nexus 5 if you want any chance of software updates from now on.

Man, it doesn't take much effort to make GNex look exactly like the screenshot from Nexus 5. Flash any of those 4.4 unofficial ROMs out there and a proper gapps, and all that's left is your patience to set it up properly. Aside from the lockscreen transparency, everything looks identical to a Nexus 5, I can say.

I've ran PAC, great ROM, but Im actually kinda interested in the new PA feature hover, as well
i'm sure it will be on PAC rom real soon if its in PA beta now
So what if we just flash the one for n9005? With an Aosp compatible kernel.
